“A Lovely Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We had such a great experience at Club Serena. The staff were super accommodating and friendly. We booked very last minute and tried to book for four nights, but they were at capacity for the last two nights, so they called every other resort on the beach trying to find us a room for our last two nights. We managed to find a room right next door and were able to use the facilities at Serena for the rest of our stay. Food was also surprisingly very good...especially the mango pancakes, which I ate every morning of my stay :) Overall, it was the beautiful ambience of the resort and the friendliness/efficiency of the staff that made our trip so wonderful. Thanks Club Serena!

Room Tip: Tree houses seemed to be the nicest rooms at the resort, but we stayed in a cottage which were nice...

Club Serena is a real gem. The standard of accommodation is excellent and the facilities are very good. We stayed in the Merman Room which overlooks the second pool - but it feels like your own private pool. The whole resort has a very intimate feel - there are only about 8 or 10 rooms and so it feels private and relaxing. The diving/snorkeling was good and the guys at the Dive Shop very knowledgeable and eager to help even if you are not an experienced underwater afficionado.

Restaurant was nice with lots of options of intimate private dining areas. The food was not fantastic but of good variety. Overall, we strongly recommend Club Serena for couples looking to enjoy some private and stress-free time together.

I cannot say enough positive things about Aquaholics dive shop and Club Serena.

Aquaholics has run the most professional and pleasant dive operations that I have had the pleasure to experience in my years of diving. All staff worked hard to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable dive experience that was second to none. The dive guides were attentive and accountable to all divers and the rented equipment was excellently maintained and in of high quality. Furthermore, the quality of reefs in the Moalboal area are excellent and the sardines just amazing, making for incredible dives.

Club Serena has quaint, chic facilities, including a great pool and barugas, basketball court, games area etc. and a great atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and helpful and the restaurant had excellent food.

I can highly recommend a visit to Moalboal and diving and staying with Aquaholics and Club Serena. Thanks to everyone there for making my visit amazing!!

This is second year we stayed at Club Serena and once again we had a very good time here. The service is good and you feel like having it all to yourself. We love our secluded Treehouse 2 and the food at the restaurant still the best we got in the Philippines. This is with no doubt the place to stay in Moalboal.

Why not 5 stars like last year:

*The sea had taken some of the beach, so now it is even smaller.
*The water was full of trash, so snorkling was not a pleasure like last year.
*Rooms not getting fresher!
*Expensive massage....should last for 90 minutes, but only got 65 minutes....and she argued she had done 90 minutes....shouldn't be the case, when you pay 800P!!

This was the first place last year and the last this year, so we have seen other places too. For this price range, I'm missing things like:

*Safe in room
*Complementary bottles of water

Small things, but this is actually the most expensive place we stay, as you don't have breakfast included. So the value for money has decreased as we experience what we should get for this price range.

Once again, I have to mention Mark as being the best staff at any resort we have been to in the Philippines - thank you.

Room Tip: Treehouse 2....it is like having you own private place.

CSR met all of my expectations, top notch in hospitality and friendliness; staff was very polite and accommodating. Facilities are adequate by most people's standards, if unfamiliar with Asia or the culture, this is a great way to experience a relaxing getaway that will let you see things you won't see at the big resorts and for a fraction of the cost. It's a diver's resort but doubles just as well as a couples getaway (my wife and myself stayed 3 nights in treehouse 2). If you're looking for perfectly maintained gardens and 5 star setting through and through, this is not the place; but, it is kept neat and clean and will allow you to experience much more of the Philippines than the giant resorts. The rooms themselves are excellent and in good condition, very comfortable.

A nice hidden gem this place is, yes you will see trash on the beach and coconut hulls, you might see a few bugs and the ever present (and friendly) geckos, but I was surprised at the cleanliness overall; remote location about a 3 hour drive from Cebu airport, highly recommend Haze for his skill and hospitality as our driver, made the trip to and from the resort a pleasure. (if you get motion sickness easy, come armed with motion sickness meds)

The water says not potable in the rooms but it was chlorinated and clear, we filtered with a backpacking filter or just filled up water bottles at the restaurant as needed. Shower/bathroom is small but adequate and in great condition and good shower, water pressure, hot water, etc. AC, fridge, everything needed/expected of a hotel room.

Food was very good (Mark and staff), restaurant/bar is extremely clean/neat and very well priced; other places will gouge, CSR does not. Enjoy some San Migs wherever, plenty of beach space and nippa huts to hang out at. Menu had quite a few options, all good things to say about the food.

You will hear some karaoke here and there in the distance, the road in might frighten some folks not used to Asia initially, but rest assured it is a relaxing place. There are two pools, one is large enough to do laps in (11' deep end also) in between Mermaid/Treehouses rooms, the other by the bar is small and good for kids or a quick dunk. (I'm not brave enough to mess with the Phil ocean without full dive gear). pools were both well maintained and cleaned.

I give it a two thumbs up overall and hope to make it back. If travelling from far away, recommend staying in Cebu City on either end of the trip due to the long drive (or to hit the Ayala mall). Thanks CSR!

Room Tip: Beach houses are on the beach but not as private; treehouses offer more privacy and are only a one m...

The accommodations are excellent. Five star. There are only 11 or twelve suites here. We saw four of them. Each was a delight to view and different design and style. Think ours was called the Rajah. There were three of us in in two rooms. Comfort and quality was excellent. Clean.

The staff were impeccable. The food was well presented. There are two pools. White sand beach. Lots of places on the grounds for relaxing in the shade. There was a trampoline. If you wish to snorkel there is an underwater concrete pad that you can follow out about 100 feet. Then there is good snorkeling.

Overall we were surprised to find this quality. One of the best places in the philippines. Prices were reasonable. good value.

Room Tip: Ask to see several rooms. They are very interesting. Then choose.
