This peaceful place is up the west coast of the Moalboal Peninsula, a good 7 kms from the more active Panagsama Beach. It is situated at the south end of White Beach, down a private lane behind Dolphin House, in a nice quiet, green enclave that slopes down to the seaside.
While there is a kitchen out back, Sea Turtle House has no restaurant, meaning that if you want food or drink, you will have to search for the staff before you can order anything. Apart from the lack of a proper restaurant, there is no menu. Of course, the cook will inform you of your options, but your choices for breakfast are basically “fried egg or omelette,” and your options for dinner are essentially “beef or buttered chicken.” At the same time, all meals come with healthy portions of side salad, bread and bacon or ham.
Once you order, you can enjoy your meals or drinks on your room-front patio or at the lounge area near the seaside, but you may have to wait a fair bit of time before they prepare it and bring it to you.
Also, when you put this on your tab, you’ll eventually find that you were enjoying $7–10 breakfasts. Still, the portions are substantial, and the omelette is very delectable.
Another drawback is that Sea Turtle House is at least a 10-minute walk from any other guesthouse on White Beach -- meaning that when you get hungry or thirsty, you’ll have to either wait a while, or maybe ride or walk a bit.
On the plus side, each room is a decent size, with a large table, a handy stack of shelves behind the door, a large safe, and a drink fridge. The rooms are generally well-maintained, and the staff keeps them clean and the fridge well-stocked.
Also, the staff and the guards are very friendly, and will be glad to help you arrange diving excursions, rides, and more.
All in all, not a bad place if you are not too demanding, but one that could be improved with a bit of effort and prompter service on the part of the owner and staff.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Sea Turtle House Beach Resort is a resort for nature lovers and its rooms are located around 9 meters over sea level and is therefore very safe from tsunamis. It has stairs and handrail for to go down to the sea. It has a self made sand beach with beach volley ball, badminton and other games for our in house guest's free use. It has a great view to the clear blue sea. The difference between high and low tide here can vary vertically more than 3 meters depending on the position of the moon. The sea here has some very unique little animals because it has been reported that it was closed on its sides naturally many, many years ago. That's why some scientists are planning to study the phenomenon under sea level. From our sea shore of limestone with corals and sandy areas you can often observe sea turtles, especially when they swim up for air. The resort offers fresh air and tranquility for a great night sleep. Experience snorkeling, scuba diving or free diving. Just a short walk away you find also the well known White Beach. The resort has a size of around 5000 square meters (one of the largest resorts here) - that offers a lot of space, garden and possibilities for just 7 guestrooms and the resort practically has no neighbors - and most rooms have even built in noise reducers. These are great advantages in a lively country like that. The manager/co-owner of the resort loves the place so much he would never want to stay anywhere else. ... more less
