“Lovely Quiet & Relaxing hotel, close to Kos Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2009

This hotel is a clean and basic hotel and a great base for anybody planning on visiting Kos Town and the surrounding locations.
Located about 15 minute walk out of Kos Town it was a quiet location away from the noisy town centre. The pool was large and clean and there was plenty of sunbeds and space to sunbathe.
The staff were very friendly and when we were there the other guests were mainly couples, and a few very young children.
The breakfast was basic but most similarly priced hotels are so we were expecting this. The bar was reasonably priced, however the bar food was a bit pricey.
The room was basic and clean and the balcony provided privacy as well as good views overlooking Turkey and Kos Town.

Overall I had a fantastic time at the hotel, it was quiet enough to relax and enjoy the sun, while being close enough to the lively Kos Town and other easily accessible towns such as Tigaki (beach resort) and Thermes (Spa resort) (via bicycle).
Thus I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing time in the sun, with more livelier options available nearby.

The hotel was very clean and although basic provided a good base for seeing Kos Town and surrounding areas. The setting is quiet and was very peaceful. It is quite a small hotel and has a swimming pool and bar. There are no other facilities to speak of. Breakfast is quite basic and continental, with little variation each day. As long as you are expecting this, then it should not be a problem.

There are standard rooms (without Air Conditioning or TV) and a slightly higher spec with better facilities (including tea and coffee making). If these are important to you, then check you booked the right type! Most rooms have either inward looking garden and swimming pool view, however some have a sea view. All however seem to have their own balcony and this felt quite private.

Bicycle use is high here and because there are a few cycle lanes into Town, it can be a great way of getting about, and quite cheap too. The hotel can help arrange the hire for you.

As an alternative, walking into Town takes about 20 minutes and is a pleasant walk, mostly by the sea and marina before entering the harbour area. Failing that there is a good bus service (numbers 1 and 5) into Town, with a bus stop at the end of the road from the hotel, so very convenient. The little supermarket opposite the hotel sells bus tickets and they are cheaper than buying them on the bus. The shop also has a good range of foods and basic items.

We staid at the Alexandra Hotel for a week and we had a great time! It's a nice, clean, recently renovated hotel at a very reasonable price. Air conditioning works well, which is not always the case in Greece. Personnel are very polite and helpful. The hotel is in the middle of town, yet rooms are very quiet. The swimming pool is mini, but there are nice beaches in walking distance.

We had to change our accommodation a couple of weeks before going to kos and we were transferred to at Alexandra beach apartments, so we didn’t have a lot of information about them. When we arrived the reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and our apartment was clean and spacious. The kitchen was quite basic but we managed to make a couple of meals using the one large hob and other tiny hob! The pool was a good size and always clean. The location was quite far from Kos town but there are regular buses to the harbour for only 90 cents at day!! The shingle beach which is 100m from the hotel is very small but in Kos there is a larger beach.

  • Liked — Reception staff, pool, spacious room and amazing view!
  • Disliked — Location
