“Fantastic Honeymoon, Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

Have recently returned from my honeymoon with my new wife at this hotel and what a hotel it is!
On arrival at gone 4AM we were greeted by staff who offered us drinks and cake and even a staff member who showed us to our room and brought our luggage to our room several minutes later.
Being on our honeymoon we were greeted to pink ribon wrapped around our hotel door and inside rose petals scattered allover the floor and on the bed in the shape of a heart along with two towels shapped like swans. There was also a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us.

As for the hotel its self your room is cleaned and changed EVERY day to a quality standard and all rooms come with excellent air conditioning. Couldnt fault the room in anyway.
There are two pools, you have the main one over looking the wonderful views of the beach, sea and Turkey. This is your more lively pool while the pool at the front of the hotel is the more quiet and relaxing pool which is were we spent most of our time. The pools are in very good condition, despite both having grains of sand sitting at the bottom of them but that is just a small matter you wont even notice. And at night both pools are lit in different colours and it looks spectacular.
The hotel staff are wonderful and all very friendly and will go out of there way to help. The Thomson reps Peter and Kate were also excellent and where always able to help when you needed it!

The only negative we had of the hotel was the food. As both being fussy eaters we found the first few days of food to be lovely but after that the main meats consisted constantly of either fish or pork. Even on the themed nights such as Italian night it was still fish and pork being served. If you like this sort of food then the food wont be a problem what so ever. As for the side dishes such as your chips, pastas, vegetable, salads, etc they are cooked fresh and are all changed frequently even if the previous dish hasnt all gone. All the meats are also cooked freshly in front of you!

If you fancy going into Kos Town it is only a short bus ride away however the buses arent very comfortable and can become very crowded, but a taxi only costs 10 euros!

Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Oceanis hotel and cannot see why anyone wouldnt want to stay here!!

Room Tip: if you are looking for something special book a room with a swim up pool!!!!

This is a lovely hotel and would recommend it to anyone. The downside is walking after dinner as it's 4km from Kos and there are no footpaths, but local bus is great and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Buy your bus tickets at the hotel as it's cheaper than buying tickets on the bus. The hotel food was lovely in the main restaurant and all the lunch venues. Was a little disappointed with the A la carte which is available on your all inclusive package but only once in the week. The staff were lovely and friendly and the hotel was spotless. We had a fantastic time here.

Room Tip: All rooms are good the ones at the front of the hotel look over gardens and not a road.

Our first visit to Kos and this Hotel early June 14 for a week and wish we had booked for longer. Don't know when we have had such attentive, friendly or more helpful staff at any Hotel we have been to and we have been to lots. Our sea view room was excellent, modern décor and extremely comfortable beds. The dining room was good but found the tables and chairs a bit canteenish in style. However there was a good selection of meals and show cooking in the evening with wine and beers served at table. We were taken particular care of by our waiter, think his name was Ilir, who tended our every need and engaged us with great humour making mealtime the more enjoyable. We tended to sun ourselves on the grass areas near the Beach Snack Bar with easy access to drinks and very good light lunches. Peter and Kate our Reps were excellent with their presentations and helpfulness, Adam too who provided the music and singing. The evening shows were entertaining and varied. Hotel Wifi very up and down. We had a complimentary evening meal at the A La Carte Hippocampus Restaurant which we so enjoyed we went again. Food, service and atmosphere very good indeed. In every way we can't praise the Hotel enough and we will return. A gem - hope no one reads this because we want keep it a secret! The only downside to our visit to Kos was Kos Airport which is a nightmare, just chill out and bear it to get home!! P & B Simpson, Essex.

Just returned after spending 14 glorious days here. We were recommended to try this hotel by friends & were not disappointed. From start to finish we had a totally relaxing time. Loved how you can either choose to lie at main pool, quiet pool or the beach. Well the food was so good & we found it hot enough for us. They had theme nights ie Asian food, fish, Italian and of course Greek. The Anemos beach bar at lunch for the Gyros was great & also you get pizza & lamb burgers here too. The age range in July was very mixed & lots of young couples. We asked for block 3 as it was the quieter block which we got. One small gripe that our room which was next to the lift & it was noisy from early morning with the cleaners and people going for breakfast so just wanted to point this out if you want total quiet. I have to mention the cleanliness of hotel too. The staff were all amazing especially Antonis, Alexis & Vivienne. Always smiling & topping up our drinks without asking. The A la Carte restaurant we ate there 3 times, 2 visits free & the rack of lamb was superb. We paid for a steak dinner here too & again the quality of the meat great. The food could be a bit hotter as they are making it fresh for you but that's my own preference. We thought the range of cocktails was good but somehow they tasted better in the lobby bar. Found the sodas a bit flat but always plenty of other drinks to choose from. Would love to go back to this hotel sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Block 3 but ask not to be near lifts

We have just returned and overall we have had a fantastic time. The hotel is lovely, there are a few finer tuning points which the management should address to make this place fantastic.

The service is faultless, all the staff go out of their way to help you, always have a smile on their face despite the hours they work and nothing is too much trouble.

Food is great but if you want a snack when the main restaurants are closed you are limited to a crepe or a dried out cheese toastie my husband doesn't eat wheat, so nothing which could satisfy an afternoon hunger pang for him!

Drinks, a lot of the premium brands are at an extra charge, fair enough but they always run out of them, even the bottled beers. Plus what they do have is limited, I would have expected more, especially when you venture to Kos town or the beach bar just outside the hotel which is owned by the same company and the bars are better stocked than any bar I have seen back home. Drinks menus are also like gold dust, 2 wine lists in the main restaurant really??

No iron in the room, so asked to borrow one however, none available but you can use their ironing service, which was 24 hours, not helpful when you need it for that night and a bit of ironing cost us 36 euros. In fact a lot of things in the hotel did seem to come at an extra charge i.e. the safe, a bottled beer etc etc etc.

The wi-fi might as well not be there!

The gym is poorly maintained which is a shame as the equipment is very good quality, just needs a bit of TLC.

The room was lovely, we booked a suite with a private pool and garden view, as sold to us by Thomson, be careful, this room does not exist, we had a junior suite, we really did enjoy having our own pool and will be taking the room description up with Thomson, the hotel did their best to help but as the hotel was fully booked their hands were tied. I would recommend upgrading your room it is worth the money. As previous reviews have said the blocks near the pool can be noisy but this didn't bother us too much.

Finally the entertainment, hmmmm can it really be called that, it really is very bad, the resident singer is actually pretty good but seems tied to the usual cliched repertoire, which actually became a bit depressing! The "not to be missed" day time activities of cocktail making and a trip around the spa, come on lets have a bit more imagination. I know it's difficult to cater for such a diverse range of guests both age and nationalities but it really was appalling. Thankfully other guests were available to laugh it off with.

Finally whatever you do, do not miss the chance to leave the hotel and explore the island, it's a beautiful island with lots to do. If I return I would not go all inclusive as there are so many options to eat and drink and very inexpensively.

Room Tip: If you can afford get your own pool.

Just returned from our first stay at the oceanis and have to say had a really good time here staff are excellent and very friendly, meals are good and always plentiful, Was a little disappointed with the bar options as all of these are not included in your all inclusive price that said I always found something to drink :). So here's the grumbles! We paid for a jacuzzi suite which costs quite a lot more which do have excellent placing right on the grass area, However the jacuzzi was very smelly when switched on and our room was considerably smaller that our friends who payed exactly the same amount If I was to return I would save that money on one of the rooms above with the same view, Also although we were told the entertainment has improved in the last year this is still really low key and could be improved! Overall a little more entertainment this hotel could be close to perfect Absolutely perfect for a laid back couples retreat

Room Tip: Ask for a beach/Sea view but don't pay for jacuzzi suites!

Alright, I hear you say, another review from this mad woman on this hotel!!!??? Is she being paid to advertise? Has she got shares in the place?
The answer quite simply is, this hotel is pure class, crosses the great age divide effortlessly, makes each guest feel special and creates an ambience very few hotels ever get to grips with.

The eating experience.
Since last season, the main eating restaurant, Yacht Restaurant, has created zones for all tastes. We returned this morning after another 14 night holiday, a few pounds heavier, thanks to the chef's and the endless mouthwatering delights.
A Greek smorgasbord each evening, (in bread area) Dolmades, Gigantes, salads, roasted garlic, onions etc all waiting in a tempting array of colour.
Further around is a chef carving different meats each evening, duck, lamb, pork, all served fresh.
Salads in all guises, pasta dishes, fish to die for, rows of fruits, desserts that hinder your waist line, and of course for the unadventurous......chips!!!!

Breakfasts, lunch and dinner is an eating experience to be savoured and applauded, made better by the ever present wonderful staff, who smile, laugh and do everything they can to help. Wonderful.

The whole experience of this hotel is one of high work ethic, their whole philosophy is the guest comes first....and we most certainly do. The gardens are immaculate, with Gardner's who work tirelessly keeping this vast green space beautiful. The house keeping staff who keep every room clean and tidy, who make wonderful sculptures from towels each day and always have a wave for you. Bottled water provided every day, along with fresh towels should you need them? Bed linen changed frequently, and tea, coffee etc replenished daily. Wine is waiting in your fridge on arrival as are robes and slippers. And, free wi fi is now part of your package, not always quick, but, who cares....you're on holiday!!

The pool areas are spotless, but please don't try and reserve sun beds before 10 am. If you don't stay with it, then your stuff will be whisked away to reception for you to collect. The hotel keeps to this rule, which most guests appreciate and salute. Stops the greedy ones from reserving beds by both pools and also the
Beach!!!
Hot afternoons see the waiters walk round with cool drinks too....just so you don't have to leave the lounger.... Ahhhh, peel me a grape.
Quiet pool sees Persa making crêpes, toasties and serving soft drinks, tea coffee and beer. Nice cool area and a shallower pool. Gets quite busy about 4 in the afternoon for the ones who get peckish. Yummy.

Anemos Beach Bar....our favourite. All new guys there this year, they are fabulous. Make delicious cocktails, are some of the nicest people you will meet and work extremely hard. Thank you guys for the endless gin and tonics.....HIC.!!!
Lunch served here from one until 3 should you fancy something lighter. Delicious kebabs, salads, griddled chicken and fruit all served with a smile. Endless supply of ice cream too.

The Hippocampus (a la carte)

Wow, this place has really upped its game. They now have a new chef, and my oh my, the standards of food has reached new heights. The risotto, the lamb and the chicken in white sauce are spectacular. The desserts are superb, especially the limoncello. I caramba, hip swervingly delish. Go on, lick that spoon! Bet you do.
Wine is chargeable, but priced well, and selection is brilliant. The selection of Greek wines on offer is excellent. Manos, knows his stuff, and he will explain anything you are unsure about. A really nice guy, who from last season has created, along with the ever fabulous Fotini an ambience to savour. Thank you to both of you, and all the staff in the Hippocampus for a most wonderful Anniversary. You really made our day special.

The Entertainment.
Still opt in, low key, but enough to please all tastes. Boules, volley ball, tai chi, massage mornings, crazy golf, tennis, table tennis, pool. Free wind surfing lessons each morning from Anemos water sports hut. Leaflets are available from reception as are bus timetables.
Adam and Ross can both belt out a tune, and they created some fabulous nights for all. Mustang Sally had that dance floor rammed.
Greek and Fakir nights are worth a watch, great to get the guests involved.

The staff.

Well, I could go on forever about these wonderful people, who all work tirelessly to please. The divine Miss Patty, who listens to every detail and really does know how to lead by example. Antoni's,who truly is a magician, a maître d of absolute quality, and a lovely man. Roland, Gregoire, Michaeleeta, Alexa, Rafaela, Gianni's all wonderful staff. Charismatic Christos who never fails to make me smile, one of the 'coolest dudes' ever, Onur who is very special and Pauel who still remembered what we drink after 3 seasons!!! Hmmmmm. Sofia who liaises with guests to make your stay memorable. Anna, the fantastic head housekeeper, and our beauty Themis, who smiles her way through each day behind the reception desk and will always help. Can't mention you all by name, but just want to say "many thanks" fabulous all of you.

Thanks to Jackie and co, Kevin and Shirley, Pat and Chris....lovely meeting you all, see you next year.

This hotel is our home from home, our retreat, our 14 days of bliss.

My "Heaven on a Stick".
