just returned from Iberostar Maya resort we were there 4/25 thru 5/2 ,leading up to our trip i was watching the trip advisor reviews about the maya and the lindo and i have to admit that there were some reviews that were down right nasty... but i have been there before and knew that resort was excellent when we were there in 2010.. well i have to say to any one who posted a bad review of the Maya you are full of s--t ,and must be from another resort or just impossible to please .. now to my review of this resort , this resort is just how i remembered it great food and service ,we stayed in room 6187 close to pools and beach and the best breakfast restaurant with Luis greeting us every morning and Francisco our waiter there ,top notch people ,breakfast buffet was always amazing every thing you could ever want for breakfast at you request !! the lunch buffets were just as good with an unbelievable amount of beef, fish, chicken, pork and everything in between plus several different kinds of ice cream ,i loved the coconut ...and all the bars are conveniently located thru out the resort so you didn't have to go long between drinks the best bartenders were, Jose ,Enrique at the snake bar ,Javier at the pool bar and Alejandro at the lindo bar . and temio who was in several different bars all are excellent .. then to the ala carte restaurants which seemed to have the most differing reviews that i read before our trip ..first of all if you had any problems getting reservations you didn't try very hard ,as not one but two different concierge's ,Wendy from our building and Nicholas from 63 building who was our concierge in 2010 both said they could get us into any restaurant at any time all you have to do is ask !! hows that for service ??. now to the ala carte restaurants them self our favorites were La marina (seafood) and the steakhouse both restaurants are connected by a common buffet area the first night there we ate at La marina and were amazed at what they had on the buffet alone, huge split king crab legs,dungeness crab claws , huge prawns ,squid ,mussel's calamari, whole baked fish and that was just on the buffet ,we ordered lobster tails every night off the menu usaully each one of us got 2 or 3 tails along with the buffet,incredible if you are not satisfied with that then the rib eye steak at the steak house was great also and even tasted like American beef ..now to Alejandro ( chavez) he is a manager of some of the restauarants in and around the snake bar ,he is a total professional and iberostar should take note of this !! the guy could not do enough for us , he organized our anniversary dinner and did a great job, thank you Alejandro !!! the bellboys there are some of the best i have had the pleasure of being around thanks to ,ANGEL,OSVALDO , RODDY ,FREDDY and the others that gave us rides or moved our luggage ..thanks to Diego in la marina ,Fernando and Arturo in the steakhouse also Phillipe for our anniversary dinner ..and lolly our cleaning lady was great with all the rose petals and little animals she made out of towels .you all made our vacation great ,and lastly we took a trip to tulum (thru Olympus tours Jose booked it ) in the morning one day and from there we went to akumal to swim with the turtles our tour guide for that trip was Emillio and he was great he was smart , funny ,and made that trip one that i will never forget ,if any one who reads this and is going to riviera maya most definitely should go on this tour with emillio it was excellent a must do when there !!!!!
third floor rooms have the best view ,al though none are ocean view
