We just returned from a week trip to the Iberostar Del Mar and Lindo. Let me make this the easiest to read my seperating pros and cons of the Del Mar into categories. I have already written a review on the Iberostar Lindo which I stayed last year and this year as well.
Del Mar Pros: The Del Mar is a step lower then the Lindo which is also on the property. Since we were traveling with two friends this time we chose the Del Mar based soley on the price. The last few trips we stayed at the Lindo. The pros of the Del Mar were the fact is was newly rennovated, less crowded then the Lindo, and a little bit more private due to the fact it is smaller.
The rooms:The rooms in the Del Mar are actually great and newly remodeled. We had a very nice bathroom that had two showers built into one. The bed was also very comfortable and the TV's were upgraded to flat screens. The size of the room was only a little bit smaller then the jr suite we typically stay in at the Lindo. I would give the rooms 5/5 stars.
The buffets: Since the Del Mar is combined with the Beach resort you can only use the buffets at the two properties. The buffets here were much smaller then the Lindo and had very few choices. The food seemed to be the same quality just not nearly as many options as the Lindo. Again, the Lindo is a step up so it has bigger buffets and more facilities. When staying 7 nights at the Del Mar you get 3 reservations at the specialty restaurants which all the resorts share. We made reservations for the Steak House, Japenese, and Mediteranian one this trip. We only ended up actually eating our meal at the Steak House because the food at the other two was not very good. It was very bland and much different then the food we had last May. We actually enjoyed the buffets more since there was more options. Finally, room service at the Del Mar ends at 11pm but at the Lindo it is 24 hours. The menus are the same at them both its just the times that change.
Summary: We actually ended up paying to upgrade to the Lindo the second day of our trip. We like the Lindo much more because of the bigger buffets, more pools, more facilities, and an overall nicer property. I would recommend the Del Mar to a crowd that doesnt mind less buffet options and smaller pools. We personally like the bigger pools with the swim up bars, the ice cream shop in the center of the pool at the Lindo, and the bigger theater at the Lindo. The service at ALL Iberostar Resorts is great though! I will 100% continue to use Iberostar because the staff is great, the nightly shows are amazing and comparable to small Vegas shows, and the property is always so clean and tidy!!!
Any questions on this resort or the Lindo I can surely answer since I have been here multiple times each year and travel to Playa Del Carmen as well. Just comment or message and I will answer anything!
I like buildings closer to the ocean so if you want ones near the Ocean buildings 11-13 are very clo...
