We just returned from this resort and I can't wait to go back. My only complaint is that the food is too good and there is too much - I must have gained 5 pounds. There are so many restaurants and so many choices. The beach was beautiful and so were the pools. There is so much to do there that I never wanted to leave. So we didn't and we enjoyed the resort fully. Our room was perfect and there service was excellent too. The nightly entertainment was okay - some nights better than others. I highly recomend this resort. Enjoy!RB in Los Angeles

I thought the hotel, food, and staff were just wonderful. They were there catering to our every need. The hotel was spotless. As for the flight home....we it ruined our excellent vacation-The flight from hell. TNT Travel & Ryan Air.I wouldn't recommend either. When we book our next vacation, it will not be TNT nor Ryan.They were NOT upfront with us from the very beginning. We were held captive in the airport.
At 10PM they claimed there were No hotel rooms available for the 208 passenger to house. After being in the airport 12 hours, 6AM, they finally have rooms available. If these rooms were available at 6AM, they WERE available at 10PM. They were more concerned about dishing out $$$$ than their customers.I am a big advocate on Customer Service, ( I should give seminars) and this was poor customer service.My husband & myself are both sick, we never get sick. We believe it is from NOT getting the sleep we needed (36 hrs) and being enclosed in an airplane/airport for such a long period of time.

Have travelled all over the Carribean, staying in 5 star resorts and this resort definitely warrants 5 stars. Rooms are nicely furnished, spotlessly clean. Food is as good as it gets in all inclusive resorts.
The Cajun restaurant was our favorite, a little smaller than the others, more atmosphere and the coconut shrimp was superb. Italian and Gourmet were also good, Oriental was so-so and didn't try the others.
The service was excellent in all the Lindo restaurants - did not find the same at the buffet next door in the Paraiso Beach. We travelled with two young teenage kids. They loved the resort and all the activities, the wave pool, the volleyball, pool activities, archery - they would return in a heartbeat (provided one very kid-unfriendly "star-friend" was gone). All the staff at this resort work incredibly hard and all are superb (apart from one - the kid-unfriendly one - he knows who he is). My husband and I found the resort too large and lacking in atmosphere. However, it does warrant 5 stars and overall you will not be disappointed if you go there.

It has been one week since we ( 50 & 51 year old husband and wife) returned from our 7 days in Mexico and despite the figid temps and snow we returned to in nw CT, we still have our post vacation glows. The Paraiso Lindo was absolutely wonderful. If all Iberostar properties are like this, we would stay in another in a minute. Our room (king bed, couch, table, chairs, big bathroom, great shower, balcony) was immaculate and was kept that way the whole week. The mini bar re-stocked with plenty of water all week long. If you can do the stairs the third floor is good because you won't have the possiblity of little children who get up early above you. We were on the 2nd floor in Blding 54, overlooking the wave pool. The grounds are pretty, yes they will need a bit of time to grow in (be sure to take a walk next door to the Beach and del Mar to see what I mean.) The service was excellent - we did tip; took a bunch of $1's with us. It would have been very hard for us to be that pampered and not reward the staff. The breakfast and lunch buffets in the resturaunt nearer to the lobby were unbelievable (shirts and shorts required.) And though there were a few less choices at the pool breakfast/lunch buffets, quality still great. Ladies do bring a sweater as at dinner the air conditioning can make it feel chilly after a day in the sun. Had two wonderful meals in the gourmet (recommend the veal and lamb chops) and at the italian (again amazing lamb chops.) Gentlemen - don't forget long pants required at dinner.
Observed a couple of "ugly American" scenes over this issue - we do ourselves no favors when we treat other people, whose only job is to basically respond to our every wish, that way. Be sure to take the time to talk with the Star Friends who are amazing young people from all over the world working very hard day and night to keep the guests entertained. (And they don't laugh at your attempts to use your high school spanish - at least to your face!) While we were there to relax, there were plenty of activites to participate in all day long and we had lots of fun watching others. Our experience with Apple Tours was excellent. Flying out of Hartford at 4:10pm means that you don't get to Cancun until 7:30 - but the airport was quiet, with lots of customs people to move everyone through quickly. We easily found the Apple transportation and though it took a bit to get us all organized, the advantage to staying at the Lindo was that we were the first ones dropped off. (The 24 hr room service came in handy also as we were starving by the time we got to our room.) We met the next morning with our Apple rep (Imelda) and she was very helpful. As I said we were there to relax so only did one day trip to Xcaret. Recommendation: take the early bus and stay all day including the show. We didn't see half of what there was to see. Again Apple very helpful in getting us into the park and started on our way and then again coming back to the hotel. (Just made it back though at 9:00 - ran to the gourmet, where we had 9:00 reservations - told them we were back and just had to go change. and they very graciously held our table and our waiter treated us as if we were the first guests of the evening. the Apple rep who was on our bus to take us back to the airport at the end of our vacation was very clear in what we should expect and how to best get through the process. Took the free shuttle into Playa del Carmen for the morning.
Be sure and to that - just for the experience. Never having been to an all inclusive before, we weren't sure that we'd take full advantage - guess what, we did. It is a wonderful way to relax and not have to worry. This is only our 3rd time taking this kind of vacation, (two other times to St Martin) so we relied heavily on the research that we did and these reveiws were very helpful. It is slippery around the pools and on the marble floors. For anyone from the north the pool water was great. Our only disapointment was the fact that the red flag was out for the entire week. Some days late in the day when the tide was low the life guard would let us in to swim - it was a lot of work though, heavy surf and undertow. But with all of the pools to swim in, how bad could it possibly be. And only God controls the weather. I am sure if Jesus (the general manager) had his way he would have had a staff person stop the wind for us. Be sure to drink some Miami Vices from the bar in the pool and frozen Margaritas from the lobby bar with the aquarium. We would defintely go back. We will be interested to see how opening up the new hotel on the otherside of the pool will effect things. Right now only hammering every once in a while. The resuraunts have the room to handle more people and the pools were not crowded even though few people were going down to the beach because of the red flags and the fact that the bar isn't finished there yet. We barely saw any bugs outside, never mind inside. Lots more families with little children than I expected, but not really much of an issue, we made later reservations for dinner. Didn't make it to the cajun resturaunt for dinner but understood from others that it was great. The oriental was also very good and the steak house was good. We made lots of memories and hope to be able to return someday.

We went w/ another family that had kids the same ages as ours, 8 & 10. We couldnt be anymore pleased with this trip. Sights, smells, sounds, taste, entertainment ,service...everything was perfect. Yeah, the water was a little cold but ya get used to it. We love the laidback easy going style of this place. No doubt that they will become a great success if they keep it up. Beach Bar IS open. Note to those who dont want kids around: FYI:There are resorts that offer ADULTS ONLY. Go there and quit griping. We did one excursion- Captain Hook Pirate Ship. Hilarious. Owned by Medievil Times chain. It was great but windy & chilly so take a jacket/sweatshirt if you go. 3 hour cruise, lots of drinks, surf & turf, party music, a show, dancing & games. Then your ship battles the other ship "at sea." Actors/Servers seem to really enjoy their jobs and it shows. Welcome to email me with questions. Enjoy.

We traveled to the Lindo on Feb 14 on a one-week charter trip through TNT Travel out of Boston. We had relatively few complaints once we were ensconced in our room (other than the weather), but our tour company and "charter" air company managed to put a big damper on the overall experience by making it very difficult to get there, and to leave. Here are our quick thoughts on the trip:

Negatives: - Travel agent was unable to guarantee when our flight times would be, but represented that we would have mid-afternoon flights both ways. We then received late afternoon (departure) and late evening (return) flights (was travelling with pregnant wife and two small children). - Taking this from bad to worse, both flights were seriously late, and we arrived at the hotel (after receiving no meal on the Ryan Air flight through dinner hour) at around 11:00 PM when the restaurants were no longer serving dinner. - On the return flight we returned to Boston 2.5 hrs late and got home at 4:30 AM...completely unacceptable.
- We had (incorrectly) assumed that Charter flights for some reason would be more on time than commercial, but were clearly wrong. - There was absolutely zero legroom on the charter flight. - We were charged a $20/person fuel fee upon our arrival at Logan...not a good first impression of the trip. - The Cancun airport was a complete zoo both inbound and outbound. - The hotel was overbooked upon arrival, reserved room type was not available, had a junior suite with a king bed (for four people). Couch not a pull-out. Had to wait even longer to get another mattress, which they just deposited on the floor, where it stayed all week. - No bell staff available to help with bags upon arrival, hot and tired, had to lug everything down the entire length of the resort (and it is long) to our room, whereupon we discovered we had not been given room keys. - First floor room in "5000" building had no view at all...view of a swamp essentially, dark, buggy, etc. - Fitness center, which is shared across the three resorts, was inadequate for a hotel of this level, two bikes, no treadmill, no AC. - Tennis pro was out for these two weeks (busy season), meaning none of the "scheduled" tennis activities took place. - Kid's Mini Club had inadequate supplies for activities (these activities were posted nonetheless). - Food quality just ok at the specialty restaurants. We were actually very pleased with the breakfast, lunch, bars, and ice cream bar.

Other negatives not in the control of the resort and travel company: - Pool cold - Weather bad 5 out of 7 days - Transportation provided to Playa del Carmen insufficient (especially on rain days). - Lines everywhere (airport, buffet, for busses, at Xel Ha, Tulum, etc, etc.)

Positives: - Construction quality of hotel - Staff

We just returned from a week at the Lindo from March 5 to the 12. WOW it was great. I had been reading reviews here for several weeks before going and I thought I knew pretty much what to expect. I honestly don't kow what some of the people who had complaints were talking about. The staff is always willing to help, and I did not have any problem speaking to them. Trust me their English was way better than my Spanish. If you want something, ask if it's possible they will get it for you. There is a lot of walking on the grounds, I considered this a plus, but if you don't there is a shuttle that will get you around to most places. Speaking of shuttles the hotel provides a coach bus all day until 9:30 P.M. to Playa de Carmen free of charge. It's about a $20.00 Dollar cab ride each way otherwise. We rented a car and drove to Xel-Ha(ecological water park w/snorkeling). Driving in Mexico is not for the feint of heart, but it gave us plenty of laughs at dinner that night as we recounted the zigs and zags. Iberostar runs a top notch operation and makes it look easy. I would not hesitate to recomend this resort to you. I would recomend to the hotel that they upgrade their TV system. Barney reruns in spanish and CNN didn't make it for me. If your going, relax and have a great time!
