The STAR friends staff, bartenders, servers, maids, and cooks were extremely helpful and always took the time to make sure we were having a great experience. This is a great location for kids and families! The beach was beautiful, but you have to be careful and watch out for rocks in the water! There are certain areas that are rock free. Frederico is a great bartender and very friendly. Beatriz was the most attentive and personable server we had during our trip. The STAR friends are entertaining and great at trying to involve guests. Napoleon was especially entertaining and personable! Grounds were well kept and food was good. Overall, great experience!

My family of 3 (2 adults + one "almost" 12 year old) visited the Lindo July 9 - 14. We have visited a different all inclusive resort once a year in the summer for around 4-5 years now. We had a great experience at this property. Check-in was an absolute breeze! We walked right off our transfer shuttle into the lobby and right up to the desk -- no line! A lovely, smiling young woman checked for our room and informed us that she would be upgrading us to a junior suite as we were inadvertently booked into a room with a king bed that obviously wouldn't work for three guests. We hardly had time to enjoy the wonderful, icy drink before we had on our bracelets, went out for our bags and were whisked away in a golf cart straight to our room. I honestly thought I had to be dreaming as check-in at resorts is usually a painful process.

A few random likes:
* Housekeeping kept our room absolutely immaculate, and we loved opening the door each day to see what fun towel creature would be on one of the beds.
* The idea of having a concierge in each building is brilliant! We made dinner reservations for our stay one night after 8:30 PM. (Note: This was the first time I didn't have to stand in a huge line in a lobby early in the morning at a resort for dinner reservations.) We were also able to ask any random question we needed without putting forth a lot of effort to go to the main lobby. I believe this is 100% why check-in was so easy. Concierge staff is keeping down the foot traffic and the main lobby is free to handle check in and out.
* You never knew when you would see creatures somewhere in the resort. This was so great! We saw cats, flamingos, swans, deer, coati families, parrots, peacocks, guinea hens, fish, butterflies, iguanas, lizards, etc. I wonder if the butterflies were migrating because there were constant groups of them flying high above and over the main pools.
* We tried the Japanese and French restaurants. Service was outstanding. Wait staff was very courteous at these restaurants along with several buffets that we visited.
* Ice cream shop above the pool bar was awesome. We ate ice cream every day. Oink!

Opportunities for improvement:
* As others have indicated, beds are hard. Our lovely concierge arranged for mattress toppers to be delivered and placed for us on the second night.
* Rooms could use more outlets. We had to unplug lamps and other things to charge our phones and camera batteries.
* Food is okay, and we definitely didn't go hungry. However, we were never excited to eat.
* Stairs can be very slippery in the humidity. I actually fell down about 4 stairs one morning in my flip flops. Thankfully, I wasn't injured and went on with my day.

Overall impression:
Iberostar, you are doing a great job in this location! I will recommend your resort to others, and we truly enjoyed the time we spent here. We will definitely consider staying here again.

Our family stayed at the Lindo in July of 2013. What a wonderful experience! We booked through Justin at Beach Bum Vacations, and were immediately upgraded to a Junior Suite upon check-in. We were in the building closest to the beach & loved it. It was an easy walk to the beach or the pool. The grounds were gorgeous, and everyone we encountered on staff was courteous and helpful.

The nightly entertainment wasn't spectacular, but we didn't expect it to be. It was entertaining, and worth a look. We did love the pool activities and pool & beach games. Their entertainment staff has to be the hardest working people in show biz! They were all over the place.

We weren't "wowed" by the food, but everything was good, and we weren't disappointed in anything. I do recommend making dinner reservations ASAP upon arrival. The concierge in our building was incredibly helpful with that. Our son could have eaten at the buffet every day and been incredibly happy!

All in all, a great vacation...from the planning process with Beach Bum...through check out at the Lindo. We truly felt like we were away, which was a goal of this vacation!

Room Tip: Building 50 is the closest to the beach. Buildings 51 and 53 are next to the pool.

My husband and I stayed here for a week along with a large group of friends two of whom got married. The things I liked about this hotel include: its cleanliness, beach area is nice (get out there early to get a chair though!), pool area with swim up bar is nice, decent gym on grounds, room was comfy (minus the sand that was in there from day 1 and the constant humidity which wouldn't let anything dry despite the AC), there's a cheesy but cute show every evening (but these chairs also fill up so you have to get there sort of early too)...

Things I was not too excited with: the food was only average at best (my fav foods were the pasta and omelette stations). Of course I didn't starve or get sick but the buffet was just so-so and the sit down meals were consistently worse. And to think that you have to book for their sit down dinners was a joke because the dining rooms were always just about empty plus the food wasn't good. Not even the mexican place?! Also, there needs to be another accessible bar that is open most of the day besides the lobby bar (which is a little drab besides the fish tank). It is rather inconvenient to walk 3/4 mile to get to the only bar open which is not very lively. There is a nightclub on their adjoining property (Star Wars themed?) but it is only mediocre. Seriously I heard one song 3x in the 80 minutes that we were there! Lastly, since it's 2013, I'd love to have some free Wifi. Not only isn't it free but it's like $4/15 minutes...IF it's working.

The staff was pleasant and the cleaning people efficient. The hotel sits along a long strip of others which is about 30 minutes from the airport by shuttle. The price with Apple vacations was fair and overall we did have a good time but I'm not so sure that I'd stay at this particular hotel again. I remember having stayed at an Iberostar in the Dominican Republic years ago which seemed to have better....

Please allow us to express our sincere appreciations for not only choosing our resort to spend your vacations with us, but also for taking the time to send your comments and your opinion of your holiday at Iberostar.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us did not live up to our usual level concerning the food and beverage quality. We already shared it with our Food & Beverage Manager and our Executive Chef in order to take it into consideration and continue making improvements.

We regret the dissatisfaction with the distances of our resort; we would like to point out that our guests can order a ride with our golf carts at any time and to any place within the hotel complex either directly and very comfortably from their room by phone or with any Concierge of any building. We also have a train going back and forth.

We apologize about the situation with the internet connection, in that matter and thanks to our guests suggestions we would like to inform you that we are working to improve that point this year; we are also planning to provide connection service from the rooms at an extra fee. Thank you for your observation and comments.

Please rest assured that we will do our best in order to improve constantly and make our guests feel as comfortable as in their own home.

We hope you give us another opportunity in the future to change your point of view regarding the above mentioned services.

Great time had by all at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo! Grounds and lobby area are beautiful. Pool and beach are great. Food is good. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. But, I must give the BIG kudos to the activities/entertainment staff for their long hours and creativity in making our trip the best! The pool and beach activities were the highlight of our trip, because of them:) Also need to thank Justin Dunn with Beachbum.com for making it easy on us in arranging and booking all facets of our trip. Ready to call him for our next adventure:)

I traveled with my family, 16 total with representation in every age group from 2 to 75. All had a great time. The complex is huge and provides activities for all ages. I have described the resort as paradise. My wife and I have been to the resort 3 times now. It was 6 years since our last visit and in those 6 years we traved to 3 other carribean locations in Aruba, St. Martin and another resort in Mexico. None of the other resorts could match the experience here.

Upon arrival, the hotel looks very nice and the staff is also at large ok and polite ... but once you start living in it, you realize the mediocrity of the service level. We were a big and mixed group (family trip - 23 people), but we couldn't be seated together, nor at dinner neither at lunch (in the buffet or reserved restaurant). The reservation possibility in the restaurants we could access was very limited and getting something to eat at the pool from 5:30pm to 7:30pm was impossible (the only way was room service... but hey, we weren't in the room). Besides that, two of my cousins got sick with the food (on different days) and needed to be checked at the hotel clinic and therefore, charged $150. Regarding the afternoon activities, the pool closed at 6:00pm and the range of activities the hotel had was pretty limited, not to mention they charged you a fortune for using the lobby wifi (the rooms have none). Last but not least: I needed a plug adapter for my shaving machine and, while at lower category hotels they lend you one, they sold me one here for $6... No choice... Unbelievable! I could go on an on, but I will just sum it up: don't go. There are other places in Playa del Carmen and Cancun that are more welcoming given the price of this category. Definetly, not going back!

We regret the situation with the internet connection, in that matter and thanks to our guests suggestion we would like to inform you that we are working on improving the service this year; we are also planning to provide free connection service at the lobby at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo and wifi in the rooms at an extra cost. Thank you for your observation and comments.

We are sorry to hear that your family got sick during your vacation. There is a doctor on site and everyday he reports to the Management for every incident he assists.

Adding up all our resorts in Mexico, we have an average of 6,000 guests a day and more than 3,000 employees, so our company has a high priority for Health & Safety; your satisfaction as well as your wellbeing is our primary goal and neglect in this department would translate into a massive contamination. We have an in-house Health & Safety department as well as an external company (Saniconsult) that undertakes regular control audits. They verify our system procedures and the quality of our food and drinks, as well as our employees’ health. Doctors say that a variety of causes could be associated with an ailment such as change of climate, consumption of alcohol, the change of food and water type, or even catching a stomach bug.

In any case we hope that your cousins recovered quickly and that their vacation was not completely spoiled by this.

We apologize about our team not being able to seat your whole group together. We always do our best in order to satisfy all our guests but unfortunately we do not have such a large table, so the solution is to try and seat them as close as possible whenever availability allows us.

We hope you give us another opportunity in the future to change your point of view regarding the above mentioned services so we may prove to you our commitment to exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
