We flew in to Santo Domingo, they tell you it is a two hour ride to the hotel, it is closer to 1 1/2 hours. The hotel is nice. The room is your standard room. I have stayed at another Iberostar where the rooms were much nicer. The property is not very big, it is easy to walk from one end to the other. The food is very good for an all inclusive. We stayed for 8 days and were allowed three visits to the speciality restaurants. Those were all very good. The gym is adequate although not air conditioned. One problem for us was that there are only 2 tennis courts. You have to reserve them. Typically you want to play before 9am because it gets too hot. If there are a number of tennis players at the resort, it becomes difficult to get court time. The entertainment staff that runs activities all day is exceptional. They do make the vacation special.
Overall is was a great vacation. We relaxed and had fun. With that said, I probably would not go back again. In the Ibersosar chain, this is not one of their top resorts.

The only problem that we had was not the hotel's fault. My son had an ear ache. There is a doctor in residence at the hotel. He strongly recommened that we see a pediatrician. His company would provide transportation to Punta Cana, which is 30 minutes away. My son had a minor ear infection. The bill was $615! The company is Hospiten. I feel abused and taken advantage of.

Overall, Iberostar Hacienda will provde a very good vacation.

I had come for a 9 day getaway with my parents to Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus, I am actually still here and can't wait to go home. The laundry list of things wrong with this hotel is lengthy but I will try to touch on all of them. Let me start with the one positive, the beach is very clean, few waves, and overall not a bad place to go for a swim. But here are some negatives to keep in mind.

1. If you plan on having a spot in the shade on the beach, please prepare to be up at 6am, as by 7am all the lounging chairs that have an ounce of shade are reserved. When my mother attempted to share a piece of shade with some German tourists, one of the men in the group began to verbally and then physically assault my 110lbs mother, unfortunately I was not around at the time of the incident and I dare not say what I would have done to this person if I had seen them at this hotel, however my mother did complain to security, who were very eager to do absolutely NOTHING! I cannot believe that this man did not get any kind of reprimand from the hotel management, and I can safely say that that experience ruined the trip for her.

2. Food is the worst I have ever seen at any all-inclusive. I have stayed at several other Iberostar properties both in the Dominican and Mexico, as well as RIU hotels. There is no comparison this hotel is an Iberostar only in name. This morning the breakfast was served without any eggs, as they simply ran-out! Unless you like eating stale french fries and cold spaghetti every day, this may not be a place for you. And if you have any dietary restrictions forget about it. Only one of the three of us got violently ill from the food, so perhaps that's an upside to our stay.

3. Horrible Horrible service! The folks manning the dining and lunch areas are very quick to take away your old plate, but can't be bothered to ask whether I would like a drink with any consistency. The only service that is adequate is by the bar staff who are pretty quick to take your order and get you a drink, and if you come to this place, trust me you will need a lot of alcohol. The front-desk staff is atrocious, soliciting bribes for "VIP" building (ie 3,4,5). Furthermore, when the wi-fi here did not work for 3 days, the fix was only a few hours away. Also as I am writing this at 3pm, my room has still not been cleaned even though the "please make up our room" tag has been prominently displayed since 10am, so basically now instead of taking an afternoon nap, I have to wait for the room to be fixed! Ridiculous!

4. Unless you have sense of humor of a 5 year old you won't find the entertainment team amusing, they walk around the premises and act like annoying gnatts until you swat them away. Furthermore, the evening shows consist of either inappropriate humor or repetitive dancing programs. Keep in mind, if you have little children, these shows are not appropriate as they have included nudity, of course without any forewarning.

I wanted to write this review while all of the experiences were fresh in my mind. Please do yourself a favor don't come here. As a result of this stay I am having serious doubts that I will stay at an Iberostar property again, despite past positive experiences.

If you are a beach lover, than this property is for you. Sugar white sand, calm blue water and an amazing lighthouse bar. They make a perfect cuba libre.
Our room was a corner ground floor. Very spacious with a nice patio.
The food was also decent for an all inclusive.
Dare to leave the property. Bayahibe was a great little town with some fun bars and good restaurants.

An excellent team, makes you feel like friends, beaultiful and clean buildings, anithing is far. Very good food, nice night show with a band sounds as music masters play variety of rythms. Animation team, Alejandro, Lady Gaga (man) I can't laught more. Nice music at the disco and especial thanks to Arcangel, Nino and Morla who makes especial to have a drink at the pool.

We arrived on Jet Blue into LaRomana airport from JFK-great airline and the airport is about 25 minutes away from the hotel. We've stayed in Punta Cana more than a dozent times before and this was our first trip to LaRomana.
The hotel is located on one of the most picturesque beaches we've ever seen. The water is amazing. Hotel is very clean, very well maintained. We stayed on the first floor, beach front in a junior suite on the first floor, building #4, in my opinion the best location to both beach and pool.
Our entire family loved the entire experience. The staff is great and very accommodating.

On the negative side: there were not enough people working in the actual buffet kitchen for the first 2 days of our stay and they seemed to be constantly running out of food during dinner. The quality of the food in the buffet was a little below our expectations, however the food in the restaurants was great.

Stayed in November. The place is overbooked and crowded with Russian Americans from NY. Not enough beach chairs. Need to get up at 6am to reserve chairs. If you do not throw your towel on a chair by 7 am you do not need to bother going to the beach, you will not find a place there. People steal towels from each other and the hotel people make you then to file a report for that $10 cheap towel and give you a runaround before they will award you with another one. Not enough food places. Lines, lines and more lines. Need to beat Hungry crowds storming buffets. Service is handicapped. You ask for a cup and she takes it from another table. Then people which will sit at that table 5 min
later ask her for a cup too and she takes it from another table again, and that is how it goes. She just can't put all coffee cups on all tables and nobody will ask for it and will be happy. The same goes with everything: towels, chairs, silver wear, dinner reservations. They pull out from the beach to wash beach chairs at 9am when everyone is
Going nuts to find them. Nothing works in the room: sometimes iron, sometimes ac, sometimes lights or toilets. Nice pool, grounds, sea. Need to clear and expand the beach, it is very short. Not worth coming there a second time. There are many places in punts Cana, Jamaica or cancun that will give you much more buck for a bung.

Amazing beach,great food in buffet and restaurants. Landscape simply amazing so clean . Rooms pretty nice too comfortable and large. Me and my wife stayed there in july 2012 and it's was one the best places we stayed. Thank you Iberostar for great vacation.
