if you are looking for a beach holiday with nothing to do but think of where or what your next meal is then this is a fab destination......

this is not the first time that i and hubby and friends have stayed at 'dreams' la romana, we were last there 3 yrs ago before the up grade and did have reservations that putting in a new block of rooms and pools might just spoil the place, but my answer to that was no way.

our start from gatwick was a bit slow due to a flight delay !! but ho hum... we eventually got to dreams very late but the following day felt we were right at home.... as i said having been there before we had our routine and we knew the layout very well

the improvements are just wonderful. our room was just like some of the pictures already on here and very comfortable... the shower was just wow !!!

the beach is just the same and the sea is amazing.... for me in the carribean its the best, mainly sand and not many fish !!!!

we always used the world cafe for breakfast and lunch .... this is buffet style and has a varied range of english, american and continential dishes.... the staff are very aimiable and always pleasing.

evening times would start of at the main pool bar as its cool and then venture off to the restaurant..... mexican is ok, the oceana is a fish restaurant not really for me but if you enjoy your fish then carry on.

the italian and french we top of our list.... not just as the menu is delicious but the waiting staff and hostesses are great fun.... outside these restaurants are lovely comfortable lounges with a bar .

the seaside grill has a lovely menu however lunch time is abit hit and miss as service is slow..... the evening is not too bad we had one very good and one not so good meal but dont let that put you off....

as there is spa at the resort then i strongly suggest that you try it out after you arrive and before you leave. prices are in dollars and on a par in the uk, however, they do have deals of the day which i managed to take advantage of. starting off with an aromatherpy massage, managed to fit in a hot stones one too, and before i came home managed to have a relaxing massage, mini facial and pedicure!!!!

this is a wonderful place for 2 weeks of sun sand and relaxation..... with a wide and varied choice of food !!!!!

a few tips...... always tip good service, a few dollars of appreciation, always try to speak a little spanish 'hola' to any member of staff, the gardeners, or maids even goes a long way.

dont be put off by the 'sping breakers' or some of the other guests that can be rather loud depending on their nationality !!!!

if your looking for a special place to get married then check it out a sunset wedding nr the sea and your very own party in one of the restaurants .....

dont be put off by any of the negative reviews, this is a lovely location and hotel with a few improvements ..... just relax and enjoy ........

We went for 1 week all inclusive. Food was good - but it is a five star. If you enjoy the entertainment that most of the hotels provide, this is not the place for you. What little entertainment they do have is very short and not that good. There is a lady singing some old tunes in the lobby. The hall has a few mediocre shows - there is no house band.
They put on a few shows at the pool, but again not very good. Everything is very sterile and because the plave is so big, you walk a long distance to get anywhere.

If you are looking for an all inclusive in Dom Rep would have no doubts in recommending this hotel. Arrival set the tone with a welcome glass of bubbly, checked in swiftly, shown to room which was great, nice bathroom, comfy beds and ipod dock and dvd player was handy. had to move rooms as we had a very noisy baby next door (not hotels fault obviously) but they moved us promptly without question. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Entertainment team were great, very fun, get everyone involved and offer lots of activities so kids and adults would struggle to get bored. Good shows at night too and always show films on the beach in evening. Pool area and beach were great, lots of bars serving every drink imaginable, including named brands, and great cocktails. Food was great, nice to have alacarte restaurants, not just buffet, in all inclusive. French was the best by far, as well as Italian. Ony criticism is portions were a little small but we were full after bread and three courses. You never go hungry as room service is free 24hrs. Dived with the team there and were great and very helpful. Were some large noisy groups of young americans so maybe avoid spring break week, they left after 5 days of us arriving though and it was much better. Never felt crowded also. Would suggest flying into La Romana as took 2hrs to transfer from Punta Cana. Overall great holiday, great food and drink, would highly recommend

If you want a TRULY all inclusive holiday with premium drinks, great food and without all of the silly rules about the ala carte restaurants - GO HERE. This is without doubt the best all inclusive I have stayed at, no stupid lines to book tables at the premium restaurants and you can go to them as often as you like - no rules. The drinks were fantastic from frozen margaritas to jack and coke without the usual tripe you get served at all inclusives - you will need to ask for your spirit of choice as they will defalt to the local ones if you dont, but no issue when you do. The place was spotlessly clean and the beds were the most comfortable I've stayed in, apart from the likes of Vegas. It was spring break so the skwarking girlies and whooping boys (and I mean boys) from Kentuky Uni were a pain, and very loud! Im up for a laugh but they are just not funny, not the hotels fault at all I just wouldnt go back at spring break and the vast majority of the Americans we met said the same.

Just returned from a wonderful spring getaway. My friends were getting married so about 30 of us went along.
Flew into La Romana via Air Canada on Saturday, left a week later. We hit the tarmac and got through customs, on the beach an hour later.

Check in was smooth, but bring your bags to your room, the staff wants to do it, however some mix ups occurred with our large group. A few bags got placed in some wrong rooms.

Beautiful grounds and facilities, very clean and modern. The rooms were great, cleaning staff quick, no problems with towels, soaps, or hot water. The Ipod dock in the room was a nice feature, as you can sit on the deck; relax to your own music.

So many choices with food, all the al a cartes were amazing, we liked the steakhouse, the french and the italian the most. No lineups at all. Buffet was very good for lunch and breakfast, even tried the room service and found that to be very fast. The burgers and pizza on the beach were great. Try the fresh fruit stand. The drinks were plentiful with a wide variety, most of the name brand stuff is found at the lobby bar. The coffee café was also great, with cappuccinos and lattes.

We spent most of our time on the beach and had no trouble finding some beds; go to the far end of the beach near the water rentals, few people and quite secluded. The water was warm, clean and turquoise green. Good snorkeling further out or near the dock, lots of different fish. We used the catamarans daily and found that to be very relaxing, some great views of the hotel and surrounding area.

We took an excursion to Catalina; negotiate through Grigris (the water rental area) better deal than the Air Canada option. Recommend this… they take you to the island, lots of rum, nice beach, bring a few peso’s for beer or food as the locals have some booths set up there. Then we toured back by the river, we were lucky enough to have a pod of dolphins swim with the boat for ten minutes. We also went to the fishing village a few kilometers away, not much to do but interesting to tour the streets, and condos. Very safe!

The wedding was great, right on the beach, dinner followed also on the beach. The staff had a backup plan when it down poured for two hours prior to the vows, and at the last minute re arranged everything when the sun returned.

The staff was awesome; we did tip at dinner, and left a few dollars for the cleaning staff and bar staff. However I got the impression that if you tipped or not the service was always friendly and helpful.

The Dreams Hotel superceded my expectations. From the moment my girlfriends and I stepped into the lobby, we were immediately relaxed. The decor is absolutely beautiful, the staff was attentive to ALL our needs and the cocktails were magical. The vast array of dining choices were amazing. The activities on the beach were fun and relaxing.
The disco and beach party after dinner was a perfect way to end each night.
I cannot praise the staff enough...Picasso was the best !

We were there for 1 week in Feb.and over valentines day. We have never been treated that well and would like to thank the staff for that! Had a great valentines day with champange out on the pier! It was the most romantic day EVER! Food was great but next time will probably fly into La Romana instead of Punta Cana because of the 1 &1/2 hr. drive. Was nice to see their town though. Can't think we could be treated better ANYWHERE else!
