“Always perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This is an annual destination for us, fifth time around and still extremely pleased, from first moment to last. Upon arrival with a wonderful greeting and nice refreshing drink to the check in and so on.
There are many activities to keep everyone happy and an enormous amount of work goes into the evening entertainment shows. The resort is beautifully spaced out andwhile everything is within range it still has enough tranquil separation. You can sit on the lively part of the sandy white beach and turqoise placid water or you can find more tranquil spots sahdes by nice tropical trees.
The grounds are very well maintained and manicured.
The restaurants are all very good as is the buffet, which is open to breakfast, luch and dinner. Reservations are not needed at any of the restaurants and best of all no bracelet to wear as in most resorts. Romantic dnners are offerred in various locations on the beach as is round the clock room service. Facials, mani/pedis, hair salon and elaxing massages are also available and massages are particularly good alond cabanas on the beach if one does not wish to use the spa.
The wait staff is extremely good and since you are always being served by different people it would be unfair to single anyone out and to name everyone you would need a whole list. They all apparently train very well, are very friendly and although you may periodically encounter
a language barrier that is quickly resolved. As full as the place may get, the wait is never long and they are prompt, courteous and efficient.
From the front reception desk down to the ground maintenance staff everyone is great and deserves a bravo in making this resort run efficiently and pleasantly.
You don't tire of going to the same place and in our case familiarity is a big plus, it really makes us feel good returning to such a friendly and hospitable environment.
Many destination weddings take place here but the evening receptions do not at all disturb the quality of vacationers' time which is very precious to all.
Great vacation place and wholeheartedly recommended.

For our first vacation together, my girlfriend and I have chosen this resort based upon a personal recommendation. This is a fabulous all-inclusive place right at a superb beach, with friendly and competent staff and many restaurants to choose from. It is run by an American company, so the Italian and French restaurants do not offer real Italian, nor French cuisine, but good international fare. The seafood restaurant and the Dominican restaurant are excellent, though. Our large room was squeaky clean, the staff friendly, the free drink selection includes high-end beverages. Try the local rum at least once straight, and definitely give the Mamajuana a try! We also enjoyed some of the sports the resort offers, Spanish lessons at the beach and a romantic evening for couples.

I just returned last night from a fun trip to Dreams. After reading the reviews, my expectations were extremely low and I was really unsure what to expect. I can honestly say, my only complaint is the food. I do not know why so many people had poor reviews but my vacation was fantastic!

Room: We stayed in building 4 which was renovated. The rooms looked exactly as they did in the photos online. Everything was clean, NO BUGS, clean sheets, sparkling bathroom.
Day 1 I asked the maid for more water and she handed me a case of water bottles. That was enough for two people for the room since every bar and restaurant has bottles as well. Only problem with the room is the extremely thin walls!! Our neighbors liked to watch tv at 6am and the maids were extremely talkative in the halls every morning.

Pools: We stayed mostly at the infinity pool. It was beautiful overlooking the ocean. There was a waitress to take drink orders as well as a swim up bar. The main pool was huge and the beach was gorgeous. The ocean water was the warmer than the pools so that was really nice.

Food: This is my reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5. If you drink coffee, I highly recommend going to the coffee bar/internet cafe. They make delicious and strong coffee. I always got the coffee "take away" and walked over to the breakfast buffet. The buffet definitely has a lot to offer, just isnt top notch. Then for lunch, there is the buffet, pizza, burgers on the beach, or seaside grill. For a big group the buffet offers the most options. I found it was nice to sit at the seaside grill overlooking the water (also the only place with chips and guac). The pizza is easy to bring to your chair and sit outside with.
Once again though, breakfast and lunch food is ehhhh. Do not expect much!
On the other hand, LOVED DINNER!
So for dinner there are about 10 restaurants and 5-6 are open every night. Dinner was great compared to breakfast and lunch. And the best part is you can order whatever you want!
I didn't try every restaurant but here is my preference for the ones I tried:
1. Asian (ate there twice! Definitely the best!)
2. Oceana (seafood, very fresh and nice atmosphere)
3. French (have to order the right thing, but very good overall)
I didnt get to try the mexican which was supposedly very good as well. The buffet is also open for dinner and it has a theme each night. I would definitely recommend the restaurants over eating at the buffet three times a day.
Also, had zero waits which was really nice. No reservations necessary.

Transportation: You MUST fly into La Romana. Its 10 minutes from the hotel ($35 cab). You only have to go an hour in advance to fly back home. It couldnt be easier.

Entertainment: We loved the nightly entertainment! The staff was very funny, welcoming and eager to get us involved. For families, there are sooo many activities for children to participate in. Save your money and do not go to the shady casino, so not worth it. Instead have fun in the game room at night or watching the entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for building 4,5 or 7. We tried to get in 5 or 7 but they were fully booked with preferred guest...

There is truly no place more relaxing and beautiful than Dreams La Romana. While the resort is not perfect it definitely is an outstanding resort. The beach is somewhat small and apparently man made, but it is beautiful with ample lounges and plentiful shade. The staff, all staff, were excellent, attentive and helpful. This includes bellmen, reception/checkin, maid, bar, restaurant, casino, entertainment, security and even the grounds people. Since the resort is somewhat secluded it is great that it offers a wide variety of activities and puts great effort into involving guests. There are beach and pool activities all day and nightly shows covered the early evening. After that there isn't much to do besides the small casino and empty nightclub. I can see that as a drawback for some folks that require 24 hour entertainment. I didn't mind turning in early and getting up to see the sunrise. The dining options offered variety and I found meals enjoyable and far better than other all inclusives I've experienced. I thoroughly enjoyed my too short stay and will definitely return within the year. Excellent value.

First, good things: location is decent (nice beach, weather usually good, fun snorkeling), nice coffee shop, staff is friendly and helpful, can buy internet for $60/week.
Bad things: commute is long (2hrs from SD airport), ton of people smoke at resort and on the beach, seen some broken bottles while snorkeling, shows at night are poor, worst of all are the restaurants and food - food not always fresh (some fruits fermenting) and restaurants hands down worst ever in our traveling experience.
Bottom line: I would not come back. You will have to make your own decision - of interest I am surprised by others reviews - I have no explanation for high rating that people post.

We have just returned from our third visit to Dreams La Romana and again our expectations were exceeded. Upon arrival you are welcomed with either a glass of champagne, a champagne cocktail or chilled fruit juice. ‘Welcome Home’ is the greeting and you definitely feel that you are ‘home’.

We upgraded to Preferred Club and feel this is definitely worthwhile. The Preferred Concierge is a great way to start and finish the day. The staff know you all by name very quickly and the waiters, both morning and evening know exactly what you want to drink and are always helpful and smiling. The preferred pool and preferred beach are never busy and you can always get a sunbed with some shade if required.

We upgraded direct with the Hotel and both Mario and Jean Carlos, Head of Concierge were excellent. We have had dealings with Jean Carlos since our first trip and he has always helped out whenever he can and always remembered us (we are just two of thousands of people that he deals with), but that is the sort of personal service you get at Dreams La Romana.

We requested rooms in Building 7, overlooking the pool and got just that. The rooms are excellent, both in size and facilities. Our maid left lots of towel art during the day and the turndown maid always left chocolates and some form of art. These people work very hard to make your stay perfect so a dollar tip here and there is nothing to us but everything to them. I have never seen so many staff with smiles on their faces, which again rubs off on the guests and they smile too.

Waitress service by the pool and on the beach is a lovely touch. There are not many all-inclusive resorts where you get this service.

All the staff at Dreams La Romana are great and there are too many people to mention them personally, but Erick and Kelvin at the Preferred Concierge go out of their way to make your day perfect. Also all the girls in the Preferred Concierge will do everything they can to make your stay everything you want it to be.

I have read some reviews on this site and must say that some of the people must have gone to a different resort! How anyone can complain about the food is ridiculous. There are 7 A La Carte restaurants, a pizzeria, a snack bar on the beach, a coffee bar and the main buffet, so if you cannot find something you like in any of these you must be super picky.

We used the buffet for some breakfasts and lunches and the choice is amazing. There is everything from cereals, fruits, eggs, pastries, pancakes to full cooked breakfasts. Again the lunch choice is amazing and there is always a choice of fresh “show cooking” to tempt you.

We used the A La Carte restaurants every evening and the environment and quality is fantastic. The only ones’ we did not use were the Mexican and the Jungle (Dominican). My husband has a gluten allergy so eating out anywhere is always a challenge. However, the staff at the restaurants were fully aware of the needs of his condition and went out of their way to make sure that all the food served was ok for him. There was not even a hint of cross contamination – they are all aware of what needs to be done.

Our favourite A La Carte was the French, followed by the Seaside Grill, but that is not a criticism of any other restaurant, just our personal taste. All the restaurants are excellent and the food hot and tasty. The hostess in the Bordeaux was absolutely superb. Due to my husband’s allergy there are not a lot of desserts that he can eat but when she was on duty she personally prepared a fruit platter for his dessert – I don’t know many hotels that would do this for ‘one’ guest. On our second visit she prepared this before we even asked about desserts.
From the hostess in the French restaurant, to Elvio and William in the Seaside grill, everybody went out of their way to serve us.

How anyone can complain about the quality of food, cleanliness of the rooms/resort or attitude of the staff is beyond me.

On our first two trips, the only slight negative was the 2 hour transfer from Punta Cana airport on top of the 9 hour flight from the UK, but this year the new road was opened and the transfer is now approx. 45 minutes. Even though the previous journeys were long, the Resort was definitely worth it.

We will definitely be returning next year and cannot wait to see all our ‘Friends’ again.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent but if you would rather peace and quiet, the Preferred rooms are fantastic.

From the minute we walked into the lobby and were greeted with "Welcome home" and handed a glass of champagne, I knew we were headed for a memorable vacation. The service was impeccable. Always greeted with "Hola" when passing any of the staff. Top shelf liquor is something you don't always find at an all inclusive, but it was here.

We stayed at the preferred club and the room was so comfortable. The shower offered a rain shower head as well as a removable one. They have a large flat screen TV with dvd and cd player, not that much time is spent in the room.

So many choices for food with a buffet bigger than any I've ever seen as well as several restaurants. Although the place was pretty booked, we never waited in line for food or drinks. The wait service on the beach and around the pool was nice to have. Would go back the next chance I get.

Room Tip: Stay in any of the preferred club rooms
