“What a fantastic week at this hotel ! Our Opinion:-”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2010

This was our first trip abroad with our 3 small children and after reading the reviews before we left i was thinking what have we done!! Ok, to start, we had a night flight and arrived at 5am - reception came to greet us, spoke english, showed us round, got us water and then took us to our room on the 3rd street, all good so far. We had a family room, all beds made, plently of towels, air con in both rooms, small kitchen, yes it was basic but clean, and as we were only going to sleep in it, it did the job. Woke up and wow what a view from our room, so far we could not see what people previoulsy had to moan about. We were happy, kids could not wait to get into the pool, we checked the resort out, got our bearings and we were ready to go. Yes this resort is very steep, but you are up a mountain!! If you dont like to put a little effort in then dont go!! The pool was clean and not over crowded, it was slippy due to the marble floor everywhere, but as long as you stayed on the matting around the or wore shoes round the pool you were fine, the motto was DON'T RUN! unfortunately we did see a few children slip and fall! The restaurant served food virtually all day and there was no reason for anyone to go hungary, and we found the food to be good, yes it can be a bit samey, but you have paid to go AI so what do you expect? There was always plenty to go round and yes people were greedy, but hey ho! We did not once have a bad meal and we did not see any wasps, but then we always ate inside. Plates were always cleared promptly, and we never had trouble in finding a table for the five of us. There is a small pool bar which is only manned by one person during the day, but we never had to wait for a drink and always got served, including the kids regardless of nation.....The animation team were second to none, they work hard all day/night trying to keep everyone happy, never pushy in our experience and alot of fun always took place around the pool. The turkish massage/bath were brilliant and worth every penny and i would recommend. The on site shop was expensive compared to sarigerme village. Free shuttle bus on the hour never full, especially if you went after 10am and the beach was surperb, great for the kids. We made some great friends during our stay English and Polish. In fact we enjoyed our stay so much we are planning on returning next year. Finally, all i would say is take all the negative reviews with a pinch of salt, because for a reasonable priced holiday we got what we expected and were far from disappointed.

The resort itself looks good when you arrive, I had read some bad reviews but I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. However within a few days I just wanted to go home....
The resort is not geared towards English guests, most of the guests are Russian or German. So prepared to be treated as a second class citizen if you are from the UK.
You must be fit and agile to stay here as you are looking at a minimum of 40 steps to your room and if you are unfortunate to be near the top then 130-150 steps!!!!
The worst part of thi hotel is meal times, the food is disgusting at best and there is no decorum from the Russians who seem to think it is accceptable to push in the queue when you have been waiting an age...
The evening meals were served outside it what seemed like a giant wasps nest, literally hundreds of wasps all over your plate, so a mad dash from the food area to the indoor eating area is required everyday. The wasps were all over the food its simply not safe to eat it. After about 3 days we just stopped eating it and lived of crisps from the shop, in fact I lost 6lbs and I was only there 7 days. The management seem completely disinterested in the wasp problem.
In summary do not go to this hotel unless you like wasps and arrogant Russians... this is a one star hotel at best.

Our flight was very delayed so we didn't arrive in until 5am. I had noticed that the reviews were very bad more recently and expected the worst.
The view from our window was fantastic and the walk to the pool didn't bother us. The beach and bar were very nice.
However, the family room was awful. It felt like my 3 kids were sleeping in a kitchen. The room was grubby and worn out. The food was horrid. Badly presented in massive bowls and you didn't know what it was. Both myself and my husband got a severe dose of an upset stomach. However as we ate elsewhere as well we cant prove it was there we caught it. The entertainment staff worked very hard working but too pushy for us.
For my family of 5 we paid about £120 per night for all inclusive. I think that is cheap however I could not eat there everynight and I think if we had been there longer we would have had to have done a lot of trips.

I have just returned from 2 weeks at Caria holiday Resort in Sarigerme. I would like 2 to start with saying if you are a uk citizen i would strongly not recommend this resort, as i found we were all totally ignored when we went to bar etc, They would serve all the germans and russians first and we would have to say something, When u did get served eventually at the pool bar, if you could call it that, they would give us a little plastic cup you would give to a toddler. they always ran out of things. when we arrived at 3 am we got taken 2 our room by bus. on the fourth street. found out in morning we had 80 steps to climb, As they seem to keep all the lower streets for the germans and rusians. top street.8th had 180 steps and not a lift in sight. Also for a 4* Resort i would give it a 2*. The staff were all scruffy. The Restuarant could have been run better by monkeys.Tables were always a mess. never cleared for ages. As for food. It was always turkish and the same thing coming round all the time.after about 4 days you didnt want anything, never any english cakes except for the odd gateau, and only 1 came out.all syrup cakes, nothing for kids. and worst of all was the evening meal. All cold salad inside, Hot food in trolleys outside or getting cooked outside with hundreds of WASPS. and i mean Hundreds as seemingly there was 2 nests in the hotel. so unhygenic and disgusting.I ONLY WISH I HAD READ REVIEWS BEFORE I BOOKED MY HOLIDAY.I would not go back to this resort if i was paid to go. I hope this review has been helpful. I have been honest because i paid nearly £2.500 for 3 people and would not want someone to spend the same and get stuck in this Resort.my husband is turkish and he hated it also. The only thing that got us through was we meet some lovely other guests. sorry for writing long review and thank you for taking the time to read it.. The Degirmenci Family

Good Points : Fantastic views, clean pool.
Bad Points: Reception the worst I've come across in 20 years of travelling, constant loud music by the pool, quality of food varied but breakfasts were terrible, The poolside is slippery and dangerous. Eating outside in the evening impossible due to swarms of wasps.
Average points: Room ok but needs modernisation and updating. Air conditioning efficient but noisy. Our Kids liked kids club but no security eg signing kids in and out. Courtersey bus to beach usually full and does not run to time.
Don't understand comments about lack of sun loungers. Always plenty available and we are not early risers. Also it is clear that hotel is on top of a mountain so can't complain about steep steps to and fron rooms.
Hotel could be turned into excellent resort but needs some-one like Ducan Ballantyne to get hold of it and turn it around. Not likely to return in current state.

Recently returned from an 8 nights stay at what would have to be the worst hotel resorts we have ever stopped in. Must advise before we booked we booked checked some of the reviews beforehand taking note that some were good and some bad but went with an open view, after checking out the lovely description and pictures on the hotels own and the online travel agents website.

Arrived very early at the resort after a night flight and 1 hour transfer after initial delay bookid in etc. we were driven to 7th level, a necessity as the accommodation was near the top of the resort (very steep incline) and grateful as there are many steps and it saved us lugging 4 cases. All very tired at this point we were then shown to our family room which was very grim and in need of modernisation. Apart from having nowhere for us to sit the majority of fixtures and fittings were either hanging off the walls or broken this included the portable T.V, wall lights, broken floor tiles, filthy mould riddled bathroom, mini bar, which was basically a small fridge that again was filthy with a door that wouldn’t close. Nothing like 4 star accommodation we viewed on the agents or resorts website. It took us 14 hours of going back and forth speaking to various receptionists, the manager and our rep, coupled with the delay in our new room being cleaned and having the basics of clean bedding/towels provided could we finally shower and change out of the clothes we had arrived in.

Resort is more like a 1 to 2 stars and forget good value for money. The food is basic and don’ t bother trying to get any hot food on the veranda, you’ll probably get crushed in the scrum, because they never have enough, partially due to some feeling the need of piling their plates and tables so high (wasting most of it) they leave nothing for the rest or you’ll be left disappointed because it’s either overcooked or underdone. The buffet area consists of: bread, warm salad, reconstituted dishes made from whatever is leftover from breakfast and the lunch menu which is then chopped up and smothered in either parsley, oil, yoghurt or cheap mayonnaise. Poor selection of drinks too and it's a nightmare trying to get a drink, British people seem to get ignored and served after other nationals and little point sending your children for a soft drink etc as they get overlooked as well.

Very little to do at the resort, you are basically stuck on the top of a very steep mountain, with no other facilities surrounding it. Pool area doesn't have enough sun loungers, is very slippery, no safe shallow end and loud music is played constantly and the majority of sporting facilities i.e tennis court and basketball court are closed off and the old water park feature is unsupervised and not easily accessible. Similarly not much to do at night we went to a couple of the shows the animation team runs, we liked the 'Turkish night' which was very good entertainment with national dancing but geared at adults. And as the disco/ live music started very late 10pm – midnight children have little to do as the table tennis and pool table/air hockey is taken over by older children.

Only good points about the resort were that our room was cleaned daily but our linen and towels weren’t changed in the 8 days we stopped. If you’re used to using the free beach and pool towels most all inclusive resorts offer forget it at the Caria they issue you one set at the reception at the beginning of your holiday and if you want clean/fresh ones you have to pay. Serigerme has a lovely unspoilt beach and Caria guests go on the beach free. We tended to go early 10 am and return after 7pm in order to miss the throngs of people jostling to get on to the courtesy bus. We also liked the town, locals very friendly and no pushy sellers and couple of nice restaurants. We also used Panda tours who are based in the town to go on a couple of excursions, we went to Turtle beach and 12 island cruise which both suitable for children, fill your days and great value for money, Ozzy the rep does a good deal and they collect you from your resort at the time they say and cannot do enough for you when you are on the tour. Also the food we had on both packages beat the resort food by a mile.

Sorry not a nice review. But I think you pay for basically what you get, package was cheap when we booked it and appeared on paper to be a good deal, but we ended up spending an extra £400 on taxi’s 20 Lira per day to basically eat nice food and get away from the resort and its lack of amenities.

Would definitely return to Turkey but not this hotel resort.

First of all i will say that i am pretty easy going so for me to write a review on here speaks volumes.

When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by reception who speak very little English and its very hard to ask the most simple of questions.

We were on the 7th street which was 150+ steps but that did not bother me as we had read reviews before on the steps so we knew there was a chance we would be on a higher street due to not having children with us, what i did not realise was that nationality seemed to play a part as the higher you went the more Brittish families there were including children.

Our hot water tap was hanging off in our shower when we got there and it was dripping heavily so we called reception to get if fixed and to be fair they came up and eventually got it fixed but the dripping was still there so we made the decision just to close the door and try to enjoy the holiday.

I don't think words can describe meal times at this hotel, if you go down for your evening meal at 7pm then prepare to have people push in when standing in line and then take enough food to feed a small army, this seems to be mainly the russians who never eat much of what they take but they seem to be under the impression that the hotel will run out of food. If you like to eat outside then please take note that there was THOUSANDS of wasps around that just buzz around your plate and head, we found it easier to go for our meal around 8.30 when all the pushing and shoving has stopped and the wasps have left due to the sun going down.

I must congratulate all the young staff who clear the tables as they really do take your plate as soon as you have finished and work very hard, i got caught with a fork in my hand a couple of times as they took my plate as i was finishing my last mouthful. The food does get a bit repetitive but even fussy eaters like myself always found something to eat, The flat bread they cook fresh at lunch is very nice.

The bar area does not have enough staff and they seem to have their favourites, i must confess that a member of staff at the pool bar was very nice and started pouring our drinks before i got to the bar and i had to apologise to others who had been waiting a while but this might have been because my girlfriend and i always said please and thankyou which seems to escape a lot of people.

The pool area like said before by others is a very slippy surface but i was careful walking where they did not have the blue mats. You need to be down by the pool area before 9am to get a bed but this is the norm in most hotels.

The shop is reasonably priced considering there is nothing within walking distance but the man in there is incredibly moody and is possibly the thickest person i have ever met as he has to do the most simple maths on a calculator.

I would highly recommend the 12 island boat tour which was a full day out and every age will really enjoy it, don't by the DVD they offer at the end as it is rubbish and not worth the money.

This was my 3rd time to Turkey and may be my last because of this hotel.
