I chose this place for 2 reasons.
1. It was cheap
2. It offered shuttle service

The did not disappoint on those two things and it would have got 5 stars. The cleanliness of the rooms were very good the hotel had a restaurant I didn't eat but it was busy when I went so they are doing something right.

The only reason I did not give 5 stars are reasons which the hotel cannot really avoid but that is that the hotel is really in the middle of nowhere. You have to have the shuttle in order to get to it because I did not see any buses or public transport running nearby. Also there is a construction work happening outside it which does not give the place great views you look out onto an open field of construction which is quite disappointed but as mentioned the hotel cannot avoid it.

Highlights were that the hotel is literally 10 mins from the airport which makes it perfect if you are a last minute packer.

I have stayed there for 1 night before my early morning flight from Basel.
The room was simple, but clean and adequate. The hollway was very dark and reminded me of some military barracks. I think that it would look better with some nice lightning and with some change of the wall colours and flooring. That blue color looked a bit severe and depressing.

The airport shuttle was great and the restaurant was decent. This hotel is about 3 KM from the French part of the Euro Airport, but 26 KM from the Swiss side of the airport, as then you have to go all over town and thru a real border. Both airports share the same building, which is about 300 meters long. If you going to this hotel and renting a car, it would be easier to rent it on the French side. The driving out of the Swiss side to this hotel was very confussing and we wasted a lot of time as the GPS in our rented Hertz car kept sending us around the loop at the airport. Something was set wrong, or they just changed some road near the airport and the GPS did not have the new map programmed. The Swiss and the French at this airport do not seem to care for each other and have a very little info (of pretend that they do) about the tourist services at the oposite sides of the border. It was a good learning experience.

Room Tip: request a top floor

We requested a baby crib and got one in the bedroom when we arrived, but the crib had one side broken. It was great to have a crib, but it would be better to have one in functioning order. Beside that we had a short but good one-night stay and got a shuttle to the airport without any problem at 4:30 am.

I booked the Captain Hotel for a 3 night stay after other plans fell through a week before. I wanted somewhere close to the airport so that I could afford a taxi as I had a lot of luggage. I knew everything in Basel was extremely expensive so the Captain hotel's free taxi service to and from the airport was a selling point for me. Plus the fact the hotel is on the French side, food and drink would be affordable and i had euros in cash.
Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming and my room was clean and comfortable but unfortunately no hairdryer in the bathroom.
Upon request at reception I was allowed to choose a meal from the restaurant menu and take it up to my room to eat, which was nice and relaxing. The food was excellent and great value foe money.

The downside to this hotel is that there are non whatsoever means of transport link into Basel, which caught me by surprise when I went to venture out. I didn't expect a hotel so close to a big city to be so isolated. The reception told me I could only reach Basel city centre via taxi to the airport and then the airport bus 50.

This hotel is great for an overnight stay but not if you wish to visit Basel and do not have a car.

Strategically placed at 5 minutes from Basel/mulhouse airport it offer decent services at reasonable price. It is clean, quite in the night and busy in the morning as you would suspect.
The countriside nearby is very nice and there is a taste of Alsace.

As a group who are used to many different hotels and grades, what a pleasant surprise to find every member of staff so helpful, right from the first encounter at reception.

From the outset of our three week stay, we were no easy group to sort out as the bookings we had placed were confusing - our fault, not that of the hotel!! The dates of each of us arriving kept changing as our deadlines were always altering. All confusion resolved by the teamwork between reception and management. The language difference was no limitation, their fluency from French into English, German, Spanish (and also others that we cannot remember) was a great comfort.

Our respective rooms were without difference, all very clean tidy (as you would expect). At other hotels, we have had to put up with all sorts and costing more. What a wonderful relief to find it all in such good order. Daily cleaning was attentive with good attention to detail.

Breakfast was above basic continental provision, and available from 04:00 every morning! Daily, we all left very early, we were always grateful to able get a meal.

Evening meals 'a la carte' and the 'daily menu' were all very tasty. The kitchen staff were as versatile as could be expected given how fussy we could be. Waiting staff included the bar staff.
We marvelled at the ease with which they dealt with the sudden arrival of twenty or more new covers. Each table being attended to with consummate ease and professionalism.

During our stay, Damien and Magdalit could not have been more attentive and informative. Not just pouring our drinks but their local and national knowledge of food and wine. We were very inspired and went on to try local recommendations, All varied but excellent.

The deputy manager and his staff were excellent, very responsive and sensitive to our varied needs. Again, language was no barrier.

We will be back, without doubt.

Paul, Baz and the gang.

Free shuttle from airport was fab! The rest terrible. Triple oom booked 1 month earlier not available so given 2 rooms, the second room smelt of rotten cabbages, unable to use. It even made the whole corridor stink!! When my daughter took her shoes off and walked on carpet, her feet were soaked. The carpet was sodden. It also made her cough from the fumes! We had to move a mattress onto the floor in our room. When we complained they were not very apologetic, we paid for the 1 room and returned to the airport. Would never recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Cannot recommend
