“Excellent Hotel - really deserves 4 stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

We was there from 30.06.2012 to 08.07.2012 - in Junior Suite - 2 children + 2 parents, on HB.
The room - big enough! The room was very very very clean!!!
Sheets was replaced on every 2 days.
Staff was very professional, kind, spooking English, German and Greek (off course).
The Pool - very clean!
I was impresed by covered parking.
Restourant -amazing view - but it is very hot on the morings if you chose a table next to windows. The food I will say - between Good and Very Good, more close to Good. There are Everything for Evereone.
The Beache - We were with car and we prefer to visit diferent beaches and if you chose the nearest beach - it will take 2 min to go there by car - free parking places, very good sea , bar and staff (The beach Bar is not part of the Hotel ).
The village - we love this village - it is traditional Greek village and you will feel the traditional greek atmosphere, you shoud visit Hristos taverna.

We stayed here for 4 days and found what we came for; relaxing moments, great views, nice clean room. Very friendly staff, willing to help you as much as possible. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends!

Just back from a week at the Blue Bay Afitos. Wow we loved it and yes many of the guests were German and I have to say most were very unfriendly, Why????. That didnt spoil the week for us. Food and accommodation excellent, staff very helpful and obliging, couldnt do enough to make our stay a good one.

I think you would call this hotel adult themed, which really suited us. Peace and quiet and a couple of lovely little towns just a 10 minute walk away. Everything you want there, food drinks and gifts the lot and nightlife if you want it.

Cant wait to go back, already checking out prices

Room Tip: Push the boat out and have a suite, they looked fab

Stayed half board for 2 weeks at the start of July. The web site for the hotel is accurate - views are stunning, hotel is kept very clean and common areas are well maintained.
Hotel is very popular with German people and we got the impression it was geared towards them - even some of the staff are German. Food was only OK - breakfast was good, a large selection of meats, cheeses, breads, cakes, fruit, yogurt (greek yogurt with honey is really good), all the usual things. Dinner is also buffet and while there was a variety of dishes at night, I don't think a night went by when pork wasn't on the menu. We weren't impressed with dinner overall. Everything seemed to be stewed or casseroled! very little fish on offer.

One of my biggest problems with the dining room was water stains on cutlery and glass ware - I felt like it showed a real lack of effort and while its a little thing, it would have been nice to get a clear glass with our bottle of wine at night.

The bar is very quiet at night - only a hand full of people tend to stick around. It can be difficult to get served as bar staff help to set up the dining room at night for breakfast and so are in and out to the bar very sporadically. I don't mean to sound like the impatient type, we have been to Italy two years previous to this holiday and we know what laid back service is, but this was very irritating. The bar is extremely dark at night as well - they really could do with improving the lighting.

The steps to the beach while maybe a little much for the frail or very young, are not difficult to walk, they are not very steep and there are sitting areas along the way if you need to stop. The beach is nice but beds are very cramped so we didn't go there too much. Nice for an evening swim though.

Afitos is a very small town and not as atmospheric as it is described in some places. We did go to Christos restaurant after reading reviews here and its worth a visit. The road from the hotel is OK for walking, its takes about 15 minutes max. Gets very dark though and I didn't really walking back from town when its was so dark - felt a little unsafe.

Overall we wouldn't recommend this hotel to friends or family. It was only so so. We had a very relaxing holiday but it did take us a few days to get used to the hotel and the things that fell short of the mark. We won't be going back.

We stayed in the Blue Bay for 4 nights. The garden and the pool look very nice and the view to the sea is also great, and that is where it ends.
The rooms are poorly built and decorated, there is no feel of quality. There are cracks on the walls and cheap furnishing.
The breakfast is very poor, and they close the buffet very early - at 9:59:59 sharp, which is 9 in European, and 8 in British time. They sent off some guests who arrived for breakfast at 10:10! The restaurant is unpleasantly empty for the rest of the day, we wanted to have a dinner one evening, but as there was no-one in, we decided to go to Afitos.
The location of the hotel is somewhat distant from the village (2km), and you have to walk on a country road which is poorly lit and occasionally "guarded" by local dogs. But, as there is absolutely nothing to do in the hotel - no social activities, not even a TV room, we walked to the village every evening.
Internet is very expensive (2 Euros per hour), and Wi-Fi is mostly unavailable.
The worst part is the service: the restaurant staff are downright rude, as is the management, and the room maids are noisy in the morning. No-one appreciates the fact that you are there on vacation and they are supposed to make it a pleasant one.
The hotel does not have own beach, the public one is accessible via steep stairs, over 200 of them. The beach itself is crowded, noisy (beach bar with loud music) and the drinks are expensive (10 Euros for cocktail, 6 Euros coffee, etc.)
I still can not understand how hotels like this, with no quality and no service, manage to put 4 stars on their name and squeeze out 150 Euro per night. Probably this is why it was half-empty in top season.

During our stay the weather was very hot, 37-40°C, and there were plenty of mosquitoes, but we learned that this is normal for this part of Greece.

Definitely not recommended.

This is the fourth time that we have stayed at Blue Bay so I think that this says something about how fantastic this hotel is. The rooms have been refurbished and this time we stayed in a junior suite which I can thoroughly recommend. You have a flat screen TV, a good size bathroom with a bath, comfortable good size bed and a sofa which converts to a bed. The rooms are cleaned each morning and the staff are very helpful. The views from the hotel are fantastic, overlooking the middle leg of Halkidiki. We always stay for B&B as we like to eat in the village of Afytos in the evening and one of our favourite tavernas is Christos's. You have lots of choice at Blue Bay regarding the buffet style breakfast with yogurts, cereals, eggs, cheese, meats, cakes etc. There are two pools and the pool and the pool areas are kept very clean.

The only negative thing about this hotel is that if you have young children there are lots of steps down to the beach and I prefer to wear rubber shoes in the sea as there are a few rocks at the sea edge.

We book our flight with either BA or Easyjet and hire a car from the airport as it is an easy drive to Afytos just one dual carriageway although if you contact the hotel they will arrange a taxi for you which this June 2010 costs 80 Euros one way.

I've stayed 3 days at the beginning of May. Weather was great and the hotel was gorgeous! A few people were staying at the hotel so we've got the best rooms with view at the pool and at the see. Breakfast was a delight cause the view was amazing from the restaurant. The hotel was very quite and the staff was excellent, we've got a lot of directions from them regarding the region.
A very nice is located at the beach and we've enjoyed on the 1st of May great music mixed by a local DJ :).
Afitos and Kalithea are the two main cities around, first one is smaller and quieter, the last one is alive.
