“Short stop but interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

This was a short 10 minute detour after our visit to Nessebar. The guide at the Museum spoke only in Bulgarian but our tour guide acted as a translator. No guest bathroom facilities here.

“Salt Museum”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

English speaking visitors were treated like they were a nuisance; were put in front of a video and then the unhappy lady spoke to people in Bulgarian --noone could hear the English video video.

“A museum, unique for Bulgaria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The place is located by the Pomorie salt lake and the salt fields, which once were covering a much, much bigger part of the area. The museum presents the history of the salt production in Pomorie, describes the way the salt is produced and gives an insight of the curing capabilities of additional products from the lake - like mud.
Currently the entrance fee is 2 leva and you can pay a few additional leva for a guided tour. I highly recommend the guided tour.
You can also try the mud which can be used for free on site a few meters away from the museum building. You can cover your whole body as it has positive effect on the skin as well as on joints. For a better effect, you need to wait some 30-40 minutes with the mud on and you can wash yourself at the same place. It might look a bit awful to look at and a bit smelly, but this is because of the microorganisms and elements which are contained in the mud and water and which bring the positive effect for your skin. So washing yourself with the same muddy water might look a bit awful, but it is also a part of the procedure. :) Be careful not to leave too much mud on the wooden platform at the site..the employees at the site usually would ask you politely to leave it clean - in the way you saw it when you went there.
