“Simply divine!”

Hotel Le Saint-Laurent

Jul 13, 2007

We just returned from 6 nights at Hotel Le Saint Laurent in Saint Laurent des Arbres, a lovely, small village in Languedoc, about 20 minutes from Avignon. The town, located among the vineyards of the area, is an oasis in an otherwise busy area. It is in an excellent location for touring both Languedoc and Provence. We had a rental car and drove to different sites each day.

The hotel is beautiful and well-run. We had a junior suite, which was nice because it had a sitting room with a second TV and space for storage of clothing. The hotel and rooms are decorated with amazing taste, and the atmosphere is one of tranquillity. The breakfasts are fantastic -- an amazing assortment of breads, pastries, fruits, eggs, cereals, smoked salmon, yogurts -- well worth the price.

Thierry and Christophe, who run the hotel, could not have been more pleasant and accommodating in every way -- we had tons of questions about driving in the area, as well as questions about sites to see. They were wonderful. We would highly recommend the Hotel Le Saint Laurent. We were sad to leave!

Wonderful place to let the world pass you by. The rooms are elegant and big by Eurpoean standards. The two guys that own the place are fantastic and attentive - the food is excellent - The hot tub is awesome at night - noone around - very quiet and peaceful - much better to stay here than Avignon - would highly, highly recommend this place AWESOME

“Tranquil and relaxing”

This place is a lesson in how to treat guests and look after a hotel properly. The proprietors are somehow always on hand to help with whatever is needed. The general ambience is luxury and quality, and the rooms are beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches, that do not come with hotel chains. There are lovely places to sit and dream, relax and generally enjoy the break. The pool is a good size with plenty of sunbeds, the hot tub is well positioned in a harmonious setting, again with sunbeds, and there is a sauna, which we did not use, but I am sure is very good. Breakfast is a real treat, with a temptation to eat far too much for the first day or two. The hosts are all expert at making pancakes to finish off the enormous buffet choice. I would recommend this for people who don't want constant action and noise. The village is similarly peaceful. It has a leafy square with a cafe to sit and watch the world; a restaurant, a boulangerie, charcuterie, pharmacie and tabac. Maybe more, that is all I came across. The village is very historic and if you are lucky, you may find Bernard, from the tourist office, to show you around personally, and discover the story of the fortifications of the place. If you must leave the place, it is well situated for many of the famous sites of Provence - Avignon, Orange, Pont du Gard, Carpentras etc. plus the vineyards of the Cote du Rhone.
I would say go and you will want to return.
