I don't know if it was the rainy day or the proliferation of walking sticks for sale, but I was reminded of Windermere the whole time, even though Windermere is on a lake and Cangas de Onis is on a river.
A touristy town with many shops selling fridge magnets etc, but the Puente Romano is very picturesque and I can imagine on a sunny day, that the views would be magnificent. The town is well-maintained with brightly painted houses and clean streets. If you like browsing in gift shops then you will love this town.
