“Lovely gite, countryside and people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

We arrived at the studio gite for a short stay, to investigate the area and some house hunting. The gite was private, a small secluded patio with a pretty view. Inside the gite was spacious, well equiped and clean. Pretty curtains and bedding, lots of little extras to make it feel homely. The pool area was very pretty and quiet, lots of flowers etc.
The owners and family were very helpful and friendly.
The town nearby, Eymet is charming, lots of restaurants and bars and some lovely shops.
We had a very nice time and would recommend it, a good base to see the area and not far from Bergerac, another very nice old town.

We had planned to spend 56 days at this gite as we were on an extended holiday of a lifetime in the area,
Firstly, the owner turned out to be totally and clinically blind and couldn't see the inadequacies and filth in the gite.
and the dog faeces around the scruffy garden and the filthy pool
Secondly, the window in the bedroom was broken and could not be opened so we got no fresh air at night. Additionally the microwave oven and toaster gave off electric shocks when touched and there was an electric power point hanging by visible wires off the wall. The hot water in the shower was intermittent
Thirdly the gite had many safety hazards (very low doors and beams)and I badly cut my head open on 1.6 meter door which bled profusely and needed hospital attention. At that point we decided we wanted safer accommodation.

Stay away from this gite at all costs

My second visit here and I love it here. Todd, the owners dog, is a gem and always loves to play. Taking him for walks is a challenge but worth the effort when you have the wonderful scenery all around you. Brian and Denise were very helpful and accomodating and I enjoyed my stay as much as my last visit here, that's why I keep coming back!

Great find and their site photos don't do it justice. Loved the walks to from the village, only passing cattle/vineyards and no traffic at all. Sweet air, ample flowers and cherries in the gardens. The studio was perfect for our short break, but fine for 2 week stays. Any longer and we'd take Capulet as it has a separate bedroom and more storage space. Internet works well and the quality of towels/bedding and facilities are all much higher quality than other gites we've stayed in. Definitely be back.

Room Tip: Studio perfect for couples and romantic setting.

This was my third trip to Domaine de Juliette and I never cease to be stunned at the beautiful scenery. The setting is superb for quiet relaxation by the pool or enjoying the panoramic views. Brian and Denise are excellent fiendly and helpful hosts and do all they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible, but without encroaching on your space. The children Louis and Sophia are equally charming and hospitable and Todd the resident dog - is the most playful dog ever known! The gites are very clean and charming and the grounds first class! Eymet is a wonderful small village not too far away. It hosts quaint cafes and eating places many of which provide first class food- especially the pizzeria in the square. For the more adventurous there is swimming in the Dordoigne river, canoeing, exploring the nearby caves or shopping in the bustling markets in Eymet and Begercac & Chater (the vineyard with wine tasting) is a must!. So many places are accessible with a car. All in all a superb place to stay, with terrific hosts, offering all you need for rechaging the batteries.

We stayed in 'Les Tourtereaux' at Domaine de Juliette, a beautifully restored 2 bedroomed gite in this lovely rural area of France. Everything about our stay was what we had hoped for - great weather, lovely location with superb views of the countryside - plus wonderful peace and quiet. The gites are within walking distance of Eymet with it's good selection of shops and restaurants plus traditional markets. An ideal location for a taste of rural France that isn't too far away from it all.
