“Quiet well situated hotel ideal as a base to see local area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

We stayed at this hotel In September 2012. The rooms were nicely furnished but bathrooms are tiny and the shower area needed an uplift. There are no rooms overlooking the pool but if you ask for a pool view from your balcony you can see half the pool the harbour and you overlook residential properties on the hillside which is lovely as you feel you are abroad and not just in a hotel complex. Breakfast is good and we had one bad and one excellent evening meal. The menu could do with a bit more choice although alot of people do eat out. Don't expect too lively an atmosphere! whenever we got in at night there was virtually no-one in the bar to have a nightcap and a chat with. The staff are great especially Visalis? on the bar (sorry can't remember how to spell it) We often walked in to Corfu Town along the coast road (about 30mins) Unfortunately we had alot of rain! but discovered you could catch a'green' bus from the bottom of the road to all other areas of the island e.g. Paleokastritsa Cassioppi very cheaply (3/4eur). There is also a bus in to town from the top of the road hotel will give you a timetable. 1eur. The little shop at the top of the road is NOT expensive despite what you might be told. All in all a very pleasant stay it is alovely looking hotel with very attractive public areas and you ca eat round the pool at night - weather permitting!!

I stayed at the hotel in 2009 when he and renovated. Excellent accommodation, room service and the food that is. Breakfast very average which is the standard for hotels in Greece. Location is excellent.

Room Tip: Corner suites are sunny

Just returned from a two week stay at this wonderful hotel. I note from the previous review the writer mentions "poor location", this is absolutely not so. Fair enough it is about a mile from the centre of the Old Town, but this is balanced by the quietness of its situation. You can easily walk into town, or there is a bus stop not 100 metres away and tickets to the town centre can be bought at hotel reception for 1euro10, or at the terminus for 0.90euro. The bus service is excellent. So the situation is no problem whatsoever.
We stayed bed and breakfast, the breakfasts were superb. The room was smallish but had a balcony, aircon and a fan. To be honest we didn't spend a lot of time in the room other than sleeping, showering and changing. The linen and towels were changed every day.
The service at reception, the bar, restaurant and even the chambermaids, was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, and I mean nothing at all. Absolutely superb.
Corfu is a beautiful, very safe island, and Corfu town especially so, it is very vibrant at night-time with everyone seemingly coming out to the hundreds of restaurants and tavernas. . It is also the perfect place to stay and to visit the rest of the island (We hired a car for three days, get away from the main roads and you have the place to yourself!!!). It is also perfect for getting on ferries (400 metres away) to visit other islands or even Albania for a day trip. We went to Paxos on the hydrofoil for the day which is well worth the effort.
Overall a wonderful holiday, we will certainly return to do the things we missed this time.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view as the garden view rooms get the afternoon sun which can make them very hot appar...

This hotel is very comfortable with good sized rooms, spotless throughout and with staff that couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast has great variety with lots for fresh fruit, cooked options and just about anything and everything you could want. Situated about 1 mile from Corfu Town centre, it's not a walk you want to do on the hottest of days but a regular bus service makes it an easy journey - bus tickets and timetable are available from reception or you can pay on the bus which is a bit more expensive (1.5 euros each way if paying on the bus in September 2012). There are some tavernas near the hotel with a good choice at very reasonable prices. The hotel offers a nice menu and again the prices are very reasonable. Trips to the mainland are available through the reps but you can also make your own booking and walk down to the new port which is only 15 minutes away on foot. In summary, this hotel is the best I have stayed in on a Greek island without paying a fortune and If returning to Corfu would stay there again.

The Corfu Mare is a modern hotel with the luxury of free and plentiful parking. The rooms are on the small side with a distinct lack of storage. It is clean however and the staff friendly.
The swimming pool is nice but there are too few loungers. There are about 30 for a 50 bedroom hotel that leads to people getting up early and placing towels on the loungers. Very annoying.
It is a 30 minute walk to the old town - not so practical in the August heat. Taxis cost 10 euro each way and the bus service operates when it feels like it.
The hotel and its free parking is ideal if you hire a car and use it as a base to discover the island. Good car prices can be found if you use the hotel's free wifi and find some local companies - but be aware many want cash payments and not accept credit card because of the economic crisis.
Corfu is a small island so getting lost is not a problem but head to the beaches on the west side of the island (the hotel is on the east) as they are sandy and beautiful.

Went to Corfu for the first time and enjoyed our visit. Stayed in the Corfu Mare Hotel, which is on the outskirts of Corfu Town. This is a lovely hotel. The room was small, but had everything you could want. The hotel was very clean as were the rooms. There was a great swimming pool and very nice loungers. The hotel food was very good with plently choice and a lovely breakfast every morning. The staff at the hotel were all very nice and helpful and when we told them that the kettle in our room wasn't working, it was changed within 10 minutes.
The downside for us was that the hotel was a 30 minute walk from Corfu Town centre, and parts of the walk were unpaved. We had been told that there were restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel, but when we went to eat the most of them had been closed and the 3 ofr 4 that remained were all fish restaurants. We also were a bit shocked at how run down parts of Corfu Town were, but I suppose this is due to the recession that Greece is in. As in all parts of Greece the people are very friendly, but I wish that they would leave you to look at their menus, without trying to persuade you to eat there!

we had a 4 day break here and had the SERENITY SUITE . top floor on the corner overlooking the bay . fantastic spec room , really could have 4 staying in here too . with a ps3 , 2 flatscreens , plus a tv in bathroom , a steam & shower pod , double balcony , double aircon units , 2 full seperate bathrooms etc . digital door entry and nice digi room servicing screen . expensive fixtures and fittings and an amazing sink i want for home ;-)
comp wine in room and **really nice food** in the hotel , very high quality better than most of the restaurants ill be honest ! bit slow on occassion on the drinks at mealtimes could do with an extra member of staff for peak hour if a few eat at same time . it takes 10 mins walk all downhill to the centre if you take the short back street rather than port route , then get a taxi home ! the residential neghbourhood did have some really annoying dogs that tend to bark from sunrise onwards which was slight niggle , howling non stop each day. also show premiership football in bar , even the ppv matches theyll buy if you want to drink at the bar !! the beds/pillows are very comfy and clean and new with particularly nice modern matresses / bedding . id really recommend this joint for a quality stay , food , room standards etc . the service , especially from the front desk , is top marks 10/10 . worht considering the extra for the suites as spec was so good if you can get a decent rate . majority of clients where brits .

Room Tip: condsider the suites for a little extra you get a lot of toys ;-)
