“Stunning Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

My husband and I and our two daughters (age 9 & 5) stayed at the Arhontiko on the 27th April, 2013 for 4 nights. We payed for 3 and the 4th was offered. We were met at the airport and quickly arrived at the hotel where we immediately felt at home. Our room was a family room (Grande Suite) which was not only really beautiful, impeccably furnished and clean but also enormous. We arrived in the evening and didn't feel much like moving, so we ate at the hotel and the food was perfect. It all felt a bit dreamy, sitting by a fantastic swimming pool, eating delicious food in a place we had never traveled to before. That feeling lasted the whole time we were there. It is a family run hotel and Sofia, Takis, Vaso and Kostas were always there for us and really delightful to get know. It was impressive watching a family working in harmony and building a great business together. The decor of the hotel is stunning and Sofia's choices in room design makes it a real treat to stay there. The location of the hotel means that you have to travel into Mykonos Town by car. Someone from the hotel happily took us whenever we wanted to head out and despite them being more than happy to come and pick us up, we always took a cab home which cost about 5 euros. Proximity to town is great and the fact that the hotel sits away from town means that there is more space available for them to build a spacious yet intimate establishment. Breakfasts were extraordinarily good and incredibly generous and varied everyday. Every member of staff we met at the hotel were really lovely and eager to talk to us. We were even driven by Takis the the 2nd hotel that we had booked. All in all it was a perfect stay and we would love to return one day in the future.

Room Tip: The Grande Suite was perfect with children. The best family room I have ever stayed in.

Wow what a gem we found when booking our first holiday in Mykonos. As a family run hotel the service we received form being met at the airport to leaving for home was excellent. The rooms are very nicely furnished with clean towels everyday, breakfast served from till 10.30 with a lovely supply of home made cakes, The pool area is excellent even having a hot tub. Although located slightly out of the main town area do not let this put you off as the family do provide a shuttle service to the town, On our first day Spiros took us to the area where you can walk into the main town area. We walked into town on a couple of occasions and it took around 15 minutes. However we did not walk back as did not want to venture up the hills and on the lanes which were dark, a taxi home cost 5 euros. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment in the reception area and once completed will be breathtaking. On site wifi room, childrens play area, simple but very pleasing dining area and outside eating area. Did not want to come home as the family are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, if there is something you need just ask as they are more than happy to oblige. Had I not got other holidays booked for the year I would have been going back. It is now on my return list for next year

We visited in April 2013. The weather wasn't great and we didnt mind spending time in our room as the resort was peaceful and very homely! Sophia and her staff are great! The Resort is not walking distance from the town but the driver took us where we wanted to be. Great resort! Well done Sophia and company!

Stayed in the garden rooms, which had just been refurbished, they are immaculate.
The family are lovely, the breakfasts delicious, with tasty homemade cakes.
Spiros ferried us to and from the airport, and into town at night.
There were complimentary shower gels and shampoo, and even pool towels were provided.
Loved our stay here.

I stayed here last summer with a very large group of friends. All the years I have been going to Mykonos this was the first time I stayed out of town. It was perfect, lovely swimming pool to hang out by while we waited for the rest of the group in the morning before going to the beaches. The owners drove us everywhere and made a real effort with keeping us happy. Breakfasts were delicious with the grandmother making a fresh cake everyday and drinks by the pool before leaving for dinner were fantastic with the picturesque views of the island. I recommend this hotel greatly.

Everything was superb. It is as pleasing on the eye as the photos suggest. The staff are just magnificent, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts are good, choice of meat, cheese, cereals, local pastry (spinach/cheese), plenty of coffee, and juice. The rooms are well appointed, traditional and have a/c, and their own patio area. We went last week in Oct and the weather was superb, to our surprise, mid 20's each day, sometimes windy.
The location is 1 mile from town with a steep hill to negotiate which we did every day, sometimes twice. Interesting too, with the view changing, the winding lanes. If this sounds too arduous, the hotel run a shuttle every night, and taxis are E5 back.
I loved the location for the running. Pick a mountain and run to it, passing geese, lizards, donkeys, cattle (in the road) and the multitude of cats on this island. Cats are everywhere and most are friendly. In the town, they'll gather at your feet for tidbits.
We hired a small car, but there's really no need, the staff collect you at the airport and take you to the town (and the beach if you ask).
I've never wholeheartedly vouched for a hotel like this one. It won't disappoint you! I hope I return one day.

Everything about this beautiful small (30 bedrooms) hotel from the lovely family that own & run it, to the breakfast that I looked forward to every day was an absolute treat. As somebody who has worked in the hotel & travel industry for the past 25 years I can tell you that places like Arhontiko are few & far between.

Only a 15 minute walk from the main town & harbour, this is a place where you can totally relax and forget the stresses and strains of work & life at home. I did and I have rarely been able to do this anywhere else.

There are some great restaurants nearby the pick of which are Oregano ( a 10 minute walk away) & M-Eating located in the back alleys of the beautiful harbour (not easy to find but well worth the effort.

Paradise Beach out of season was just stunning. Very few people, a great beach bar/cafe & weather to die for (25 degrees at the beginning of Nov). Just be careful of the bus times because out of season they are very infrequent.

Finally a word for Spiros - thank you!. This young guy works both behind the bar as well as acting as a chauffeur to the guests by running a shuttle service into town whenever guests wanted to go. He is polite, sociable & a credit to his employers.

If you hadn't guessed already we will be going back to Arhontiko very soon.
