“old but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2009

the hotel is located in a very nice street in the centre of mykonos (unfortunately kind of loud at night). my friend and i have been welcomed by the very nice owner. the room where we slept was rather small and very old fashioned. it definitely needs some upgrade! the bathroom was very little too. nonetheless both of them were very clean and made our stay comfortable. at the end of june i spent 75 euros/day. maybe for mykonos that was a deal, but i am not able to say!

We have just returned from spending 2 nights at the Phillipi Hotel. We had a one night stay either side of our week in Naxos.

The Phillipi Hotel do not do airport pick up. We arrived at the hotel having been dropped off at the port (no cars in the backstreets) – the hotel is relatively easy to find although with a heavy case and busy streets it was good to get to the hotel.

We were impressed with our room on the first night (Room 1) it had a small private terrace with chairs, table and umbrella overlooking the beautiful garden. The only downside was that it had an interconnecting door to the next room (the 2 rooms are I would imagine are designed for families) and although the door was locked we could hear the guy next door moving round, talking on his phone etc.

On our return to Mykonos we had Room 12, which was to the rear of the property overlooking the terrace, gardens and town of Mykonos, although we had asked for a private balcony, the only balcony we had was a couple of plastic chairs and small table set up on the walkway to our hotel. This walkway was shared with the room next door, so we had people passing by to get to and from their room. I appreciate we were only there for one night, but had specified that we wanted a private balcony and were promised one.

There is a great terrace at the hotel, but it is open to all residents so depending on who is staying depends on how quiet the terrace is.

Both rooms were furnished fairly spartanly with dark wood wardrobe, table and fridge. The air con was probably the best we have encountered in Greece, although annoyingly the electrics only worked when you were in the room (due to having to insert a key card into the slot on the wall), therefore every time you left the room the fridge went off!

Room No 1 had a great sized bathroom and good shower, the room itself was small but adequate for one night.

Room No 12 seemed a bit smaller – with hardly any room for our case at all and with a much smaller bathroom – just as well we were only staying for one night.

The location of the hotel is good. We could hear music up to at least 3 am from nearby clubs and bars, although it did not keep us awake.

Nothing is far away and it is really lovely to walk around the old backstreets.

We paid 75 euros a night to stay here and I appreciate that hotels in Mykonos are more expensive than most islands. However, although one of the cheaper hotels in Mykonos it is enough to pay for the accommodation offered. All in all I think the setting for the Phillipi is better than the rooms. The garden is fantastic and the setting convenient. However the rooms are fairly dark and sparten and although the beds are comfortable I would probably not like to stay in the rooms for longer than one or two nights.

There is no sea view from the hotel; however, it is located at the center of the town...easy to visit the beach, Little Venice and windmills (if you don't get lost in the maze :) With this cleanliness and good condition, the price is quite reasonable. We will come back again!

What a great hotel. Perfectly situated in Hora and ideal for anything you'll need to do while you're in Mykonos. It's a little tricky to find at first. We came in at 6 in the morning, So it was still dark, which didn't help. You'll see signs for it and when you do, just follow them. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They let us check in early too which was nice. The hotel is very pleasant and clean, with a beautiful garden (see my pictures.) Rooms are spacious, clean and have all the amenities you'll need for your stay. Views from the balcony are great. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this place.

The hotel was great overall -- wonderful location, it fit our budget, the room was clean, and the exterior of the hotel was simply adorable. The hotel has a great garden and the rooms have patios with chairs so it's a great place to relax and have a glass of wine, eat breakfast, etc. The room we stayed in was a bit outdated and the shower was not the greatest but these were minor things and did not negatively affect our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the woman at the front desk was really cheerful and friendly. I would stay here again -- can't beat the combination of value, charm, and location!

Great Hotel, clean room, shower leaves something to be desired for, the shower curtain didn't close all the way and the shower head was in a awkward location. But the view of the garden was very peaceful. I would recommend taking a taxi from the New Port (if you come in on a ferry, you probably won't know which one is which, the New port looks desolate, but the old port is bustling with activity and you can easily walk to the hotel). We took a taxi from the New port for only 7Euros, he took us to the Taxi sq and then told us how to get to the hotel, cars can't drive down the "streets" thru Mykonos town, they will not fit. If you can't find what you are looking for ask, the people all over Greece were very helpful and friendly. Our ferry didn't leave ontill 3pm, and checkout was at noon, the owners didn't mind us leaving our luggage in the office, they were very friendly.

  • Liked — Location, right in the middle of town
  • Disliked — the shower
