“Quiet setting, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights at the Carbonaki and found it a lovely little oasis from the heat and the crowds. After a ferry ride to the island that left us frazzled and exhausted (why is queuing nonexistent in Greece?), the taxi that the hotel had arranged for us did not arrive and we had to wait a good 1/2 hr before a free taxi did arrive. He then proceeded to charge us double the rate and refused to take less before giving us our luggage. As we struggled down the stone steps towards the B&B, my daughter's suitcase toppled over sideways and the handle broke off on one side. We eventually managed to drag ourselves into the hotel and were instantly greeted by the most friendly, helpful staff. They pulled out some tools and did their best to fix the suitcase handle, then took us to our beautiful room.

The room was truly an oasis, very clean, good ac system that quickly cooled the room, comfortable beds, big modern bathroom. The room was very quiet and we had great sleeps. There were people next door, but we couldn't hear anything more than the door opening or closing. We were on the main level and we couldn't hear people above us, either. We sat out on the patio by our door, and also at the larger patio by the mini pool, nice and peaceful in the evening.

Breakfast was wonderful, plenty of selection, and we ate outside every morning. All staff were eager to please and quickly attended to our every need, Panos gave us some great restaurant recommendations. the wifi didn't always work, but we took our laptop down to one of the restaurants on the waterfront the advertised free wifi. For the price of a cup of tea, were were able to use the Internet.

The location is great, easy access to all parts of Mykonos by walking a short ways. It was fun to wander in the twisty pathways, you can't get too lost as the town is relatively small. After 3 days of wandering around Mykonos and getting our bearings, we were able to walk with our luggage to catch the ferry (old port), rather than bothering with another taxi. It was also a short walk to either the taxi stand or bus terminal to travel to other parts of the island (the bus takes you to all beaches and is cheap).

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground level, very quiet, any of their rooms would be good.

“A real gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Loved this little hotel! Even though our room took a little to be ready, the staff is really pleasant and make you feel at home. You can walk everywhere, it's in a great location, near all the fuss but still quiet. There's a little pool/tub, not sure, that I didn't really use. The room is really comfortable and modern.
But have breakfast elsewhere. They charge too much and I didn't like the orange juice.

“Wedding Night Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Located just a hop-and-a-skip from the the center of Mykonos town, and the best restaurant around, APPALOOSA, the Carbonaki hotel was the best choice for our wedding.

We were married in November, when almost every hotel in Mykonos (with very few exceptions) had just shut down after the summer season. We had the island to ourselves and were able to accommodate all the guests at that one hotel.

We had first-class service at a very good off-season rate.

We had a great room with a huge balcony and a nice view over the rooftops to the sea.

The hotel is done in a classic quaint Mykonian style. All white and a bit of a maze (complete with secret shortcuts), like the city itself, it might take a while before you can remember how to get to your room.

Most taxis won't drive down the narrow steep road to the hotel (especially during the busy season), so while it's a short easy walk going to the hotel, it's a drag walking uphill to the main road when you're leaving, especially if you have a lot of luggage.

Though centrally located, it is surprisingly quiet at night.

This place is idea for couples.

Room Tip: Get an upper-level room with a view of the sea. You'll have to climb a lot of steps, but it'...

“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Great location however a little walk from where the taxi drops you so be prepared for the fact that the front door of this hotel and many others are not accessible by car. Very clean, comfortable and lovely atmosphere. Good size room with desk, day bed and balcony overlooking the jacuzzi (room 124). If we return to Mykonos we will stay here again. Only challenges we had was the wifi instability (but this seems standard here and you can catch up also in any restaurant as they all have wifi, just ask for their password) and that there wasn't a safe in the room so we had to put items in and out of our safe at reception during our stay.

Really nice staff.
