Myconian K Hotel

Dec 22, 2007

I know this hotel and have stayed a few times; yes it is out of the town, but to me that is more a blessing than a disadvantage, as you are not so bothered by the motor bikes and cars going 24 x 7.

The walk to town can be a challenge, and remember its easy down the hill but walking back up could be hard for some. Taxis are easily available, and relatively inexpensive.

Mykonos is expensive, with a beer costing around 8Euro in town. Try the K Hotel bar and restaurant, its quick, easy and of a good quality.

Most of the rooms were refurbished this year with new beds and furnishings. The bathrooms are small but functional, and nearly all rooms have balconies with water views. I can’t think of anything better than enjoying the sunset from K Hotels with a cold drink after a relaxing day…

Mario’s the General Manager is normally very available for what seems like 24 hours a day, and is very visible to all guests. Nicoletta the heart of K Hotels looks after all bookings and is one of the best to handle any customer complaints or problems or to give you the inside knowledge on beaches, restaurants etc..

K Hotels has a large number of return customers each year, and I believe that says a lot about the hotel.

K Hotels, may not be for everybody, but for Mykonos, its clean safe and excellent value!

I was in Germany at the time when my then boyfriend and I booked a trip to Mykonos to get away from Germany... We got a fabulous deal from Opodo. After taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel (it only cost a few euros) we checked in and was given our room. The bathroom was super small (as with most European hotels) and we later found dead bugs all in our room.

By just laying on the bed, it would collapse. In the middle of the night, we would have to get up and fix the support boards underneath the very stiff mattress.

The windows/shutters in the hotel do not have screens. I was disappointed that our "sea view" was blocked because we could not open our shutters completely because somebody installed a light post which obstructed the shutter from opening. The front desk would not switch our rooms even after several attempts.

At least the place does have air conditioning. HOWEVER, at check-in they only give you one key. In order for the air conditioning and other electrical applicances to run, your room key must be inserted into a slot and REMAIN THERE. When you leave you're room, say "bye bye" to the air conditioner and expect a hot and muggy room to come back to.

We figured we would "outsmart" the system by requesting another key at the front desk to keep inserted into the slot to keep the a/c running while we were out. Whenever the maid serviced the room, he or she would remove the key anyway and put it on the desk, shutting off the power. Good job.

The TV in the room is about nine inches wide.

The pool is another thing. I jumped right on it and couldn't figure out what was "different" about it. After my eyes and skin started burning, I realized that it was a salt water pool.

I think I remember the hotel featuring a free breakfast. Skip it, it's not worth getting up early to get a slice of salty ham and a piece of toast.

Rent a ATV / 4 Wheeler to cruise along the island. It is definitely worth it. I think it was about 15 Euros a day or so... We were able to fit on one, however I really don't recommend it for two men. Everytime there would be a steep hill (ie driving to Paradise beach and many others) one of us would have to hop off and walk since the ATV didnt have enough "power" to get us both up the hill together.

The ATV is the best way to get from the hotel to the downtown area (and the beaches) safely and quickly. Trust me, walking late at night is not fun and you do run the risk of getting squished. That's the primary reason we got the ATV in the first place.

To go to the beaches you can either take a taxi (too expensive), take the bus (cheaper but takes a while), or the atv (quick, and costs less than two bus rides a day)

REMEMBER WHERE THE GAS STATION IS!!!

There is a free shuttle from the hotel back to the airport. When my boyfriend and I tried to bored, the driver said he only had me on the list. Not that it mattered anyway since the shuttle was EMPTY he made a big deal out of it and went and talked to the front desk. After that it was ok.

The airport is a joke. You dont have to get there too early. Remember to hit up the duty free after you land and before you leave for cheap bottles of liquor.

Overall, Mykonos itself is a GREAT party place for same sex couples and offers breath taking scenery, beaches, and nightlife. Just choose a better hotel.

“Great place for the money”

Myconian K Hotel

Sep 14, 2007

This is an amazing hotel, pool and place to stay in Mykynos. It's not right in the center of town (and it's a bit of a dangerous walk - but so is walking anywhere in Mykynos) but other than that it is perfect for those looking to chill out, party their butts off in down town, or just hang out by the pool. The facilities are very, very nice and excellent for the price point that they charge. I'm sure there are much nicer hotels in Mykynos, but this is probably the best for what they charge per night.

I highly recommend this place.

“You could like it”

Myconian K Hotel

If you like Mykonos, you could like the Myconian K Complex, it's well located just outside of the town, (Anyway you should but if you don't rent a car or a scooter you'll have to walk ±10 minutes) It's really nice and clean, the pool is great, the views on the town, the see and the sunset are awesome. The breakfast is not really various but anyway if you like Mykonos, you'll not be awake for the breakfast ;-).... Don't forget to ask for a double bed.... it's seems to be rare.

Bring your own clock cause when we asked for 2 wake-up call, they forgot or they called at the wrong room, I'm lucky I did not close the curtain so the sun woke-up us and we did not miss our boat....

And if your looking for a nice and calm island to be with your lover.... Mykonos is not the good one, it's only a place for partying and every time you put a foot somewhere, you have to get out your money of your pocket..

“Great Time at the K-Hotel”

There were 5 of us traveling to Greece to celebrate a 50th Birthday. We wanted to be near Mykonos Town or (Chora) as it is known and the K-Hotel was recommended. It is just outside the town with a wonderful view of the city. We rented scooters to get around the island and that was the best thing to do. We did not have to wait for the busses to take us to the beaches. The front desk staff called the Scooter Company for us and we were picked up and taken to get our scooters. Our Rooms were clean and comfortable with a little patio complete with teak chairs. We would sit there during the day and watch the ships come into port. The Only down side we could find was the bathroom only had a shower with a curtain that did not go all the way to the floor. While taking a shower water would leak off of the curtain and onto the floor of the bathroom. The Bathroom floor had a drain as well as the shower which is typical for Greece. Breakfast is of the continental variety which was nice considering an average Greek has Coffee, Dry Bread, News paper and a Cigarette for Breakfast. The Pool area was beautiful with thatch unbrellas and beverage service. Most of the clientelle we ran into were tourists from Austrailia and Asia and were always ready to exchange travel stories. When I return to Mykonos I would most definitely stay here. I would not recommend this property for the elderly or families with real young children as the town is a little walk down a main street with no sidewalks. The Staff of this Hotel was extremely helpful and it was nice to meet the General Manager who was always around checking things. We used the Thallasotherapy Spa which was a wonderful treat after a day of walking around town. Maria, who is one of the Spa Attendants was wonderful to speak with and very knowledgeable about the various techniques available.
