I had picked Madalena hotel after a detailed search on travel catalogues and the web, including TripAdvisor as a source of information. I booked a single room (apparently the only one in the hotel) through Italy's leading tour operator, mid June 2005.
Upon my arrival, I was appalled at the state of the room: reeeeally tiny, extremely dirty, with an horrible bathroom. The only cupboard and the bathroom door were broken, the only chair filthy, nothing to hang a jacket or a towel on, the blankets stinking.
I complained, to no avail. The owner refused even to have a look at the room, maybe too many stairs to climb and bother? My only chance not to spend an awful week in Mykonos was to complain directly to the tour operator, and (inspected the room) obtained another room, at a different hotel.
Finally, breakfast is basic, and the pool useless.
Only pluses, the location and the spectacular views on the port and bay.

tradional mykonian. but not only the building.
the hospitality, the location, the owners, the staff.
i was very pleased that my kids were there last August
we staied at the other hotel of the same company just becouse it was August and everything was full so we had to split.
when i visited the kids and show their room i was very much surprised becouse the hotel is just 2 stars.(i know many3 or 4 stars hotels would be very jealous of madalena)
the owner mrs Madalena a very good woman that cares for her quests, took me to their room.it was simple but so clean and everything in order.
the view from their balcony was unic, they had a verada just above the port overlooked everything. the room was exactly as my travel agent told me that it would be, a/c, tv,phone, music, bath ,fridge and verada.
the pool is a bit small but deep and remind me ours at home.
the kids are about to qraduate college this year and looking forward to get back at madalena's again
Mrs madalena thank you for looking after them

Stayed at this hotel for only one night in August of 2004. The pictures on the website made it look a lot better than it was.

The room was ok, nice and airy when all of the doors and windows were open, but not what I was expecting.

The beds were a little narrow and not very comfortable. Reminded me of the beds I used to have in my dorm in college. It was nice to have a kitchen with a hotplate and pots, but the kitchen area was not in great shape. The pots and pans had seen many a better day and many of them needed to be washed before first use.

The location is good, about a 5 to 10 minute walk into town and the price was ok, 100 Euros. If you look at the website you'll see that the pool is a focal point of the site. You couldn't have paid me to get in that pool. The water was green and I can only guess what amazing things it would have done to a human.

Mykonos is an expensive island, but I think the price of this room should have been something around 75 Euros for what I got. You get what you pay for, I didn't feel like paying the 250 Euro price for many of the more expensive hotels on the island, but I really don't feel that I got what I was expecting.

I have stayed at this hotel at least 25 times and have seen many improvements. The location is excellent, a 10 minute walk from town, the sunsets are incredible from the various terraces and balconies. The owners Nicholas and Magdalena Kabouraglow go way out of their way to accommodate each guest. The rooms are basic and small but with views that come along with them, it never mattered to me. The property is on a steep cliff overlooking the ferry terminal and has recently carved a swimming pool into the rocks it is built on. There is breakfast served daily, english speaking receptionists, and a full bar. I have made many lasting friendships there and highly reccommend it. The location is excellent, not too far from town, but far enough for a quiet early evening when you need it. Go stay there.
