“simply magic...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2010

This was the third time we visited Mykonos and stayed at this hotel!
Everytime I go back to "cavo tagoo" I feel like it is a new experience for me...
The rooms have a simple but elegant decoration exactly what you are looking for in an island, the breakfast buffet is full of very tasty choises, the personell is very kind and helpfull!
The best part of this hotel is the bar - restaurant by the pool, where you can enjoy any time of the day your favorite drink or food, having the most beutiful view to the sea and the boats coming and going, especially during the sunrise...
It is simply magic... breathtaking...

I went to Cavo Tagoo on May 2010 for a week with my boyfriend and I can admit that we spent the most magical moments there.
As Greeks we know very well the island and all that it can offer. The good reputation of the hotel was familiar to us, but it was the first time that we stayed there.
The hotel is located 10 mins walking distance from the centre of Mykonos town and in case you are not in the mood of walking, the hotel's shuttle service offered for free will drive you into town.
Beautiful architecture, my style of minimalistic decoration, luxurious enough and really high aesthetics. What else could we look for? It was difficult to abandon the total white, clean and comfortable room, the outdoor Jacuzzi and the most amazing sunsets in the sea. The room service was really fast and the staff very friendly and tactful and the breakfast buffet luxurious. It even had a kind of pie that my grandmother used to make! I was shocked! Actually all the staff in general was very friendly, always smiley and willing to help.
Another thing graven on my memory is the infinity pool with the aquarium bar - especially during the nighttime- absolutely dream environment...
We also had dinner in the restaurant next to the pool (same dream environment!). Very good food as expected but not as expensive as expected. Good combination, no?
It is by far the best place to stay at in Mykonos and the next time that we are going to visit the island, we will stay for granted there. Why look for somewhere else?!

Stayed in Mykonos for 7 days total. The first 5 we stayed at a smaller less expensive hotel in order to offset the HUGE expense of Cavo Tagoo. (there was some confusion when I checked in because we were a group of 3 staying in the room. I booked the room via there website and it was 310 euros a night, but because there were 3 ppl staying in the room, they charged us 400 euros a night. So, that must mean they charge 90 euros a day for breakfast buffet. I bit pricey if you ask me) We got a room with a pool that sleeps 3. (we had 3 ppl stay in the room so we could split the cost) the room is beautiful but small. (i'm assuming most if not all rooms in Mykonos are small) The patio was beautiful with a view of the sea. The pool area was absolutely stunning. We stayed there for my girlfriends birthday. She loved the hotel and pool so much, she didn't want to leave that night to go out. So, we had dinner at the hotel and hung by the pool all night. The food at the hotel was excellent and i'm a bit of a foodie. The staff was friendly enough. They found out it was my girlfriends bday and they sent a bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine to the room. Other than that, the staff didn't interact much with us. Make sure you utilize the spa! We did. Super nice. Drinks at the pool bar? Try 14-17 euros each!... and that's on the CHEAP END!!! YIKES! But, the pictures alone you will take from the pool area make it worth the purchase of a drink or two. It IS vacation afterall.

We nearly didn't book this hotel due to some of the very unfair comments on here about service and location. I can assure you that unless every single member of staff has changed recently that any criticism of service is completely unfounded.
I have never stayed anywhere with such friendly and attentive service from the second we arrived. We hired a car at the airport (pre booked via internet for 7 days 150 euro's). The hotel is literally 10 mins drive from the airport and as we rolled up to the door two men dressed all in white linen and huge friendly smiles came up to the car, opened our doors and removed our luggage, then parked the car.
Check in was immediate and we were greeted by three more charming happy faces (in fact walking past the reception each time we entered and departed was a pleasure, there was never a time when they were looking down doing things or too busy to smile and ask us how we were etc)
The person who took two hours to check in and wait 40 mins for ice must have been extremely unlucky or perhaps another problem brought on by themselves? We ordered ice twice a day and on one occasion it arrived in the room before we got there!!, it was never more than three or four minutes...even at 4.00am!

We usually vacation on cruises (Seabourn, Regent, SS etc) and can only compare the cleanliness and service with those ultra luxury lines. In many ways I felt that the hotel was run like a cruise ship rather than a hotel. there was constant maintenance like clockwork i.e. every morning at 10.00am a happy face appeared by our private pool and completely cleaned the inside and surrounds of the pool and checked the water quality, the huge fish tank bar was completely stripped down (very unobtrusively) and cleaned which is apparently a weekly occurrence. One day we arrived for breakfast ten minutes before the official closing time and they were replenishing with full trays of items (I have stayed in many 5* plus hotels where the buffet is very depleted half an hour before closing).
We saw one couple arrive nearly an hour after breakfast closed who were very apologetically accommodated and offered freshly cooked omlettes etc. Most hotels wouldn't even offer a coffee so long after service had finished. Incidentally breakfast was served until 11.00am every day.

We stayed in a classic room with pool which are on the lower level and very private with foliage between each pool. The deluxe rooms with pool are on the highest levels of the hotel and offer more expansive views but less privacy... the choice is yours.
I was expecting the pool to be a shallow 'wet your whistle' affair, in fact it was about 12-15 ft x 20-25 ft (I didn't take my tape measure) and 1.6m (5ft) deep. The rooms were cleaned very thoroughly every day no matter how late we left the room and we were never bothered by housekeeping. Every night around 9.00pm fresh towels were delivered with a postcard forecasting the temperature and weather conditions for the next day. The bathrooms all have double marble sink basins and large oval baths with jacuzzi (big enough for 2).

The main pool area was nothing less than heavenly and we never had any problem getting a sunbed at any time of day. The ones that appear to float on the pool are fantastic and there is an overwhelming air of sophistication. Classy lounge music is delivered by an excellent sound system. Bottles of mineral water are served in champagne buckets which keep it nicely chilled for over an hour.
Drinks are rather pricey at about 28 euros for two drinks (Mykonos is very expensive anyway, most bars in town charge around 16 euros for two drinks) but I think anyone staying here would probably expect to pay a premium price. The Italian barman was very friendly and once you have ordered a few drinks you start getting extra treats like glasses of fresh fruit salad etc.

The spa is also fabulous and despite being very quiet during our stay was well staffed, there is no extra charge to use the beautiful heated indoor hyrdro pool (not thalasso therapy as described) gym and sauna.

Regarding location, the works on the new marina are nearly finished now and there was no detectable noise from the site (it is across the road and about 40ft lower than the hotel anyway). The walk into town is as everyone has remarked, a little scary for a short distance but there really is no need to ever walk in to town! the free shuttle is always on hand outside the door, if it is not there when you go out it will never be more than 5 or 10 mins as the drop off point is only a matter of 2 or 3 mins away. they also dropped us off at the excellent Blue Ginger Thai restaurant on two occasions which would be quite a hike by foot but well worth a visit. They do offer to pick clients up from the drop off point in town if you call, however the taxis in the main square are only 3 euro's so we never used that facility. By the way, the walk in to town (apart from the two bends) is very pleasant and does literally only take ten minutes.

I cant wait to return to the Cavo Tagoo. The prices rise very steeply in season but click some of the links on here when you want to book. I got a very good price (saving 600 euros over the hotel website price) from one of the links that opened here. (I won't mention the company as I suppose these offers vary in different countries / seasons)

Enjoy!!

We read some reviews that talked about all the noise.. and we almost never booked here because of it.. but we are so greatful we did.. we did not hear anything loud here at all!! There is a road that drives by the hotel.. but seriously.. who is to good out there to not listen to cars drive by?! We were greeted by beautiful kind staff.. we were upgrade to the deluxe room with a pool.. there was a name confusion and she told us we were being upgrade to the honeymoon suite.. but there were guests there with the same last name.. but they were super friendly about it.. We were given a welcome glass of champage with strawberries. correction.. it was as full as a wine glass! Their service was insane.. everyone is so nice and go over the top.. They have a free shuttle to and from the main town.. which isnt far.. we read that the roads were to dangerous to walk on. .but we had no problem.. Our room was very clean and beautiful.. we had our own private pool.. their spa looked AMAZING! and their boutique had lots of nice things in it.. Our only regret is that we didnt stay there the whole time!! It is worth the money.. We also read that some of the food was super expensive.. but it was standard European prices.. and we were in town for all our eating anyways. except the breakfast buffet.. which was AMAZING.. great choices.. fresh food.. and a view to die for.. We were also given complimentary champage while we were just lounging by the pool!
If/when we return to Mykonos.. we wouldnt stay anywhere else!!!

We spent 2 weeks at Cavo Tagoo in deluxe room with private pool the last two weeks of May. Staff was wonderful and attentive. free wifi, Huge breakfast (included) large selection for all breakfast foods. Drinks poolside listening to vintage Nina Simone, Dusty Spingfield, Doris Day, Earth Kitt - retro 60's euro lounge. Pool overlooks ocean and sunsets. !0 minute walk to center of town and port.
Safe, safe, Safe! - we almost cancelled after seeing the riots on CNN, That would have been HUGE mistake!! Prices were great given drop in Euro.
We rented Smart car cabrio convertible (hotel has car rental come to you, u meet them in the lobby - that way if something happens, you have hotel to back u up) (50 euros daily for new smart car convertible was best price we got - ask for the car rental guy with the mole on his lip - nice guy best price, the other guy in sun glasses charged us 70 euro for a day rental), drove to various beaches all over island on different days. Best food recommendations: Katerina in center of town - French Greek Cuisine - amazing. Nautilus and Niko's in town also special." The Piano Bar" featuring "Babe" belting it out nightly a must visit. Jody and Niki the owners make excellent mojiotos. Recommend Agio Sostis beach on North end of island (Many locals kept telling up about this place). Spend a beach day there (sand only, no chairs, some nudy, locals, maybe 20 people tops - very private), then eat at "Kiki's" as you climb up to parking from the beach. (restaurant is under tree on cliff overlooking water on your right). Other beaches with chairs that were memorable - Elias, Lia, and Super Paradise.
We went to Delos on a cloudy day. Best to save for a cloudy day - other wise bring hat and sun screen, you will burn. We travel as photo tourist. Mykonos was great opportunity for photos (best shots from Delos ruins). If you are going - enjoy! The island is magical.

We were there as part of an incentive trip and everybody had a great time! Rooms were clean, food was good ( we mostly had the breakfast buffet), service was ok (not great, not terrible).

However I saw other reviews and would agree that if you are paying over $400 per night you may not find you are getting enough. The walk to the village may seem a little scary but it is not more than 10 minutes and the tighther part is only for the first 200 to 300 meters.

We were first in room 120 and it was not very well situated (lots of noise because near restaurant and bar). We got move to room 221 and it was much better, with a spectacular view. (see picture)
