We have just returned from 10 days at this lovely hotel - this was our second visit. Quiet and relaxing, lovely views and lush gardens, no loud entertainment just restfull areas inside and out to sit quietly with a drink or read a book. Service is good, breakfast is good and we ate in twice which was also excellent. Set quite high on a hill but not too far to walk to the local beach and some superb restaurants,little shops and coffee bar and there is a shuttle bus twice a day if it is too hot to walk back up the hill. We had a villa which is worth the upgrade as they have a private sun roof with jacuzzi and if on the right hand side of the garden one can sit and look out to the sunset which is amazing. We took a taxi to the next village called Caleta approx 4 euros were I would recommend the Chinese restaurant 88, also the Italian Rosso sul mare and the large fish restaurant the name of which I can not remember, all very good and well priced. Nearer to the hotel is my favourite the El Torito ( bottom of the hill keep going round to the right) which served me the best fillet steak I have had in years, and near the beach the La Torre del Mirador. A relaxing lovely holiday in a relaxing lovely hotel.

We spent a fantastic week at this hotel during October half term. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing, very polite, helpful and always happy. I was particularly impressed with Rita, the gym and aerobics manager, I really enjoyed my daily exercise classes and personal training sessions. We found the food very enjoyable with a great range for vegetarians and meat eaters. We were luckily enough to be upgraded to a suite - sitting in the jacuzzi every evening looking out to sea was most relaxing. We really could not fault our week away despite the worst weather Tenerife had seen for a long time - we are already planning our next visit!!

We have just returned from a week away in this hotel .It really is superb. The location is stunning and the hotel is very beautiful . The food was wonderful, so much choice and of a very high standard. All the staff we met were delightful, they all worked very hard to make our stay very enjoyable. Thank you all so much.

Where to start with Plantacion del Sur? It was our second time there and it was just the most relaxing lovely week, there was no contest on where to go for our honeymoon and we can't wait to go back again.

Maybe its best to start with the hotel itself - it's spacious, extremely clean with every amenity you will need on holiday. Some posters have said the communal areas lack atmosphere - yes the bar and lounges aren't bursting at the seams and blaring music every night but if it's pure peace and relaxation in an airy environment you need then it's a wonderful hotel.

The rooms are great, especially ours! We were kindly upgraded as it was our extra special honeymoon and the villa was fantastic - would recommend it to everyone for pure indulgence and privacy. The gardens are also beautiful and well tended what seemed like almost every day. The pools are pretty cold but in the heat that's lovely. The views are as good as you can get in this area of Tenerife with the sea and sunrise and sunset plus La Gomera island.

Then the food - absolutely delicious breakfast with so much choice and variety each day, you can be as healthy or as greedy as you like! Everything from fruit to cereal to the full cooked breakfast to smoked salmon, hams, cheeses plus omelettes and pancakes made in front of you and delightful cakes and sweet treats.

The location, perched on a hill feels more secluded and quieter than the surrounding resorts, big but still unique unlike some of the chains and self contained unlike the sprawling Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque. Yes, there is a hill to navigate down to the beach but it's not far at all and worth the trip as the beach is clean and lively but not overwhelming and the sea really refreshing to swim in. Plus you will need the walk after all the food - although there is a shuttle if needed. The spa is great, not cheap but great quality (Mary was brilliant) and worth a visit for a special treat as its calming and the spa pools as well are very relaxing.

Finally the staff and service, just to reiterate many of the other comments here. Both are first class - everyone genuinely smiles so much, is incredibly helpful and very accommodating from the moment you check in (sparkling wine and wonderful treats in the room) to the staff at breakfast (always there but not intrusive), in the spa and around the pool. One guy, who's name I can't remember even dropped us at a restaurant when we couldn't make up our minds where to go one evening - that kind of attention is really refreshing and memorable. We enjoyed lovely sunset drinks a few times in the pool bar as well but one evening thought we might wander over to the Bahia del Duque, the staff there were much less friendly / more snooty and we were just so pleased to be in La Plantaccion. Can't recommend it enough.
