“Good holiday... hotel ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

If anyone cares to see my other reviews they will see that I am always fair.

Before we left we knew there were rules and regulations at the hotel re electricals, no tea and coffee facilities, and about 100 euros for the fridge and safe. We left home determined to have open minds, even though it took a month to get permission to take a piece of plug in medical equipment, with Thomsons saying there was no electricals ban, and there were tea making facilities,. They rang with profuse apologies and said I was, indeed right, and they were investigating. I knew I was right as friends a few weeks before had left a kettle on show and got a shirty letter of reprimand from The Management.

Although we were the nearest room to next doors aircon machinery we found that ok.

It is a nice looking hotel, but some of the rooms are really down low and the corridors down there are depressing. Other hotels have their rifiles and archery etc outside but this one has them indoors and very low down.. people just either dont know they are there are can't find them. The animation team work their socks off but if people can't find the activities then they just wont be used much.

The bathroom... if you are under 6ft tall or not agile then you will have a problem. There is a glass screen, and to reach the plug hole or taps you either have to reach right round or get in the bath first. My partner did this, turned on the shower and the force of the water hitting his groin knocked him off his feet,. I rushed in but could hardly reach the taps to turn the water off. I was just going to call for help when he said he was ok. I could see blood and was scared stiff. He had a black eye, and a bruise elbow and shoulder... and was shaken up. We immediately demanded a non slip mat. Please ask for one before using the shower. No accident form was offered by either the Rep or the Hotel.

We enjoyed the food. It is very busy and two sittings or an extra restaurant room (if possible) would be a good idea. Be aware that it isn't the place for a romantic holiday dinner.

I do have the odd cigarette but why they put the smoking area in the main bit leading to the pools, where everyone has to walk through, is beyond me. Embarrassing for smokers and not nice for non smokers. It would be nicer for everyone if it was a bit to the side and not the main walkway where there are chairs and settees for people to relax in..

We had a good time but having been to other premium hotels (Riu not Princess)felt that this one wasn't quite the same.

Sounds a terrible thing to say because the hotel has a lot going for it but because of the location of some of the rooms, the bathrooms, rules re electricals, etc we both felt it was a bit "Fur coat... no knickers" which is a shame.

Hotel was good and cannot complain about food which was very good. rooms cleaned every day. had a couple of problems with bathroom in room, which rep sorted out. some rooms could do with a slight make over though. only thing that bugged us was the fact that if we wanted key to fridge (not fridge, only cooler) but had an ice container which we could not use, we had to pay 4 euros a day plus deposit. Also if we wanted to use safe, this was another 4 euros. Had a hired car for 5 days, had to pay 6 euros a day to use their under hotel car park. Also charge for changing towels. Room was in good position, level with reception. Could not fault food as there was something for every taste. Plenty of sunloungers, but of course the usual "towel leaving on loungers" took place every day. there should not be extra charges for these 3 things as they should be included in the price, as it was not a very cheap holiday.

Before we left the UK, I sent the hotel an email explaining we'd really had a very tough year losing my mum to lung cancer and that the trip we'd booked over Xmas was very special (never mind very expensive!!) & please we could have good rooms (we'd read the Tripadvisor reviews about some of the room locations). Upon arrival we checked in, and were taken downstairs (basement) and given rooms overlooking the bins and a car park. It wasn't worth the effort to move 2 days later (we were only there for 1 week) but we will not forget the disappointment of the rooms & I would not consider returning to this hotel, although we would return to Costa Adeje. A shame as the hotel is in a great location and most of the staff work so hard to look after you.....

good and bad points about this hotel. On check-in we were advised that we were on floor 9, a high floor. After getting into the lift, we realised this wasn't the case..(no floor 9). We were in fact a floor below reception on room 0362. Large room BUT, it never had any sun and was freezing. Also it was level with the street so there was no privacy. Changed 4 days later to room 1008. Smaller room but warmer as it had sunshine. I do wonder how older and infirm people manage in the bathrooms due to the door not opening fully and the small space for climbing in and out of the bath. Also there are no bath handles to help you get out of the bath. Huge number of sun-beds and all with umberellas. The whole hotel is immaculate. Food can be a problem as we twice had undercooked fish, and veal was overcooked. I nearly re-soled my shoes with it. Very long queues at evening meal times. Drinks are expensive and if you want a coffee in the bar then I suggest you ask the waiter for a HOT one otherwise it will be luke warm. Not nearly enough lifts. We don't think it should be classed as 4 star. Gentleman on reception was quite rude when I requested a room change. Sauna wasn't switched on.

Ok so I'm one of those who loves reading reviews but never finds the time to write one myself-ever but I felt compelled to write one for this hotel so be warned I might waffle on a little!
We stayed as a family of 4 between 13-20th January good flights times with Thomson and were allocated room 422 which is on the same floor as the pool and a stones throw away from the pool & air hockey tables (which came in useful as we were able to let our 2 young children play on them whilst we finished getting ready). We booked our holiday a year earlier and requested a high(ish) floor but sea views a must. This was granted as the room provided fantastic sea and mountain views and the room height was fine although higher rooms would have had an even better view.
The room itself was of decent size with a sofa bed for the kids but my husband wasn't happy as our bed was 2 singles pushed together but didn't stay together and they were quite uncomfortable. And yes as others have said the tv is well dated and safe and fridge come at a price, the bathroom was a good size but bath tricky to fill as the shower screen does not move!.....BUT
The hotel itself far outweighs the few problems we experienced the staff are so helpful and polite and quickly gave us extra towels once we realised there wasn't enough for 4 of us and the children absolutely loved the place we found it to be very child friendly with shallow pools and little bridges for them to cross and felt very safe with them walking around even with the slippery pool area as this is only a problem for those who think they don't need to bother with non slip footwear as one lady soon found out.
The hotel is very well maintained and kept really clean and the lift to the beach is handy. It's quite a large hotel but we found the dining staff coped very well considering the amount of customers and tables they need to get round, along with refreshing the food areas constantly and you do feel a little like being at a cattle market but once we got our head around it it was fine and we never waited to be seated and always felt we had good choice at each meal even for us all being quite fussy!
The biggest reason for my review is to highly praise and recommend the entertainers Monica, Ivan and Mario. They do a fantastic job and not always an easy one especially trying to get people involved in their events of the day, my husband played water polo and a couple of other games and it was good fun once you got yourself moving and we met some lovely people in the process as did our kids they had fun mixing with other kids and going to the kids club which I never expected they would but they always came back smiling after dressing up as something or painting or making something. The entertainers work really hard and obviously enjoy their job they made us all feel at home, which is why we've just booked another holiday with Thomson to the hotel for new year but we've upgraded to a suite as we found these rooms to be of better quality as the staff kindly let us view one before we returned home. The kids are so excited to be going back again and to be able to be part of kids club and mini disco once again
My husband and I love staying in 5* hotels on our own but we appreciate that our children are quite loud and boisterous so we chose this hotel purely as it was advertised for families. We never expected to enjoy it as much as we did but we made the most of it and used the facilities to our advantage I guess that's why we've decided to return. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with sea views preferably a junior suite
