First stay at La Niña Tenerife and overall very pleased. We booked flights with Easyjet from Bristol which were excellent times and cost £600 for 2 adults & 2 children.
Hotel La Niña booked through Travel Republic via Internet on an A.I basis and we paid £440 for 2 adults & 2 children aged 7 & 3 based on 5 nights. Bargain!! :)
Transfers from airport: we got a taxi at the airport which took 20mins at most and cost 25euros.
1st impressions of La Niña: reception/lobby-very nice, marble flooring-very grand.
Rooms: we were allocated a room overlooking the pool area with large balcony which seemed fine but on inspection we were shocked to find the balcony door was completley cracked and being held together with cellotape! As we have two young children we found this unacceptable for safety reasons. My husband complained to hotel reception/manager who advised the glass company hadn't come out to fix the problem as expected-personally i feel this room should have been out of bounds until the glass was fixed. On a positive note the manager was accepting of our concerns and moved us to a second room within an hour.
2nd room- (414) Sea view. Spacious room containing a very large bed, 2 single beds & a sofa.
Separate bathroom with shower, jacuzzi bath & his/her sinks. Separate wc off bathroom.
Good size balcony with table & 2 chairs & small clothes line.
Plasma t.v-charged 10 euro on arrival for remote control but this was refundable.
Safety deposit box cost 28 euro but you receive 10 euro back as your deposit.
Pool towels are charged at 10 euro per day which is refundable but if you wanted to change the towel it was 1 euro per change which is non refundable.
Part of the reason why i chose the La Niña hotel was because it stated it had a heated pool and due to us travelling in Febuary I thought this would be a safety net to insure the children could swim regardless of the weather so we were very disappointed to find out that the heated pool is located within the spa area which children are permitted access too.
Outdoor pools: 1 small children's pool-which was very cold but the children did still have a splash about in regardless.
2 large outdoor pools which were like ice therefore were completley empty.
Breakfast: excellent breakfast selection including- made to order omelettes, boiled eggs, fried eggs, streaky bacon, sausage, hash browns, beans, tomato, bread/toast.
Pancakes-various syrups, yogurts, selection of fresh & canned fruits, cold meats & croissants.
Self service juice machine-apple,pineapple, tropical, orange etc. coffee machine. There are also Nescafé sachets so if you don't like the coffee machine coffee you can make up your own Nescafé coffee.
Lunch-even though we were A.I we didn't sample the lunch menu as we ventured out every day so therefore missed lunch.
Evening meal: very good selection with most evenings being themed, ie Mexican, American etc..self service food buffet but drinks are served to your table.
An idea of what we were offered:
Cold meats, salads etc
Selection of sauces/ gravy
All in all we managed to find something every night and we have 2 fussy eaters aged 7 & 3.
Snack/pool bar: self service buffet consisting of hot dogs, burgers, salad, fruit. Nestlé ice cream tubs- strawberry or chocolate. Plastic plates, cutlery & cups.
Evening entertainment: 2 shows every evening 9pm & 10pm included parrot show, eagle show, magic show, quiz & karaoke.
Children's disco 6.30pm every evening -face painting & dancing to party songs.
Outside the hotel: 2 Chinese restaurants & a steak house directly opposite, a mini supermarket on corner of street (very reasonable prices) the usual shops selling beach towels, magnets, bucket & spades etc.. Excursion shops.
Nearest beach less than a 5minute walk away (not sure if is a man made beach, think it probably is) crystal clear water-you can clearly see the fish, fantastic!
At the airport we were given flyers for the Acquapark/jungle park-make sure you take these if you are intending on venturing out to the watermarks etc..they saved us quite a bit of money :)
Aqualand Costa Adeje- fantastic waterpark with lots for the whole family regardless of age.
Due to the time of year we visited we basically felt as though we had the whole park to ourselves, didn't queue for any slides as there were probably less than 100 people in the park, fab! Negative-pools were freezing! Brrr! ;)
Sun beds have to be paid for as soon as you sit down.
Aqualand has a dolphinarium-we paid an extra 2.50 euro pp to go inside this but it was a waste of money to be honest.
The dolphin show starts at 3.30pm daily - this is fantastic! No extra charge to see the show.
TIP: if you have children that can swim get to the show early and sit a couple of rows up (row 3-4) not in the front and sit over to the right hand side-the children get picked out to swim with the dolphins during the show! My daughter got picked out and this made her holiday :)
You can return to aqualand for an offer price of 8 euro pp, the return tickets have to purchased on the same day and must be used within 10 days. We took them up on this offer and returned to the park 2 days later as our children loved it!
Food quite pricey as you'd expect in these type of parks - 2 kids hot dog meals, pizza & drinks for 4 on average 30 euros.
We cought the free courtesy bus to & from aqualand, bus stops outside the Bahia princess hotel which is a 5min walk from La NIna,as you leave hotel you turn left and keep walking.
Jungle Park Southern Tenerife Sur- A very nice park with beautiful colours, flowers and most of all stunning animals!
We stayed at the park for 3-4 hours and this was ample.
When we first entered park we watched a bird of prey show-amazing but quite scary as these huge birds fly so close t you, one actually hit my husband in the face with his wing! Lol!
Parrot show later on in the day, again an integrative show-nearly everyone in audience gets to feed the birds from their hands.
Park advertises a bobsleigh but this has to be paid for as an extra-we paid 4 euro pp for a turn.
Lots of amazing animals to admire-monkeys, baboons, cheaters, lions, penguins, crocodiles, hippos etc...
Food quite pricey- we had a pizza and a large drink averaged 20 euros.
Again free courtesy bus can be caught from outside the Bahia princess hotel to and from the park. The return bus doesn't leave the park until 4pm at the earliest, because of this we got a taxi back which cos about 8-10 euros.
We would most defiantly return to Costa Adeje for a winter break again and I'd have no problem staying in the La Niña in the future if the price was right, we realy enjoyed our stay here. Thank you.
