“Only for OAPs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

Still here but had to write my opinion of this place. Couple in our mid 40s with 3 year old child

Never a 4 star hotel - 3 at best
Totally unsuitable for families with young children - pathetic kids playground, no kids TV channels pre-set on 1980s TV set, very tired mini club hidden away in dark corner (don't want to upset the OAPs do we.)
The most bland all- inclusive food I have ever experienced - I can tell you exactly what's going to be set out for dinner each night, not a spice in sight, no themed nights, no variation, plentiful bland food. It's edible but I'm on holiday and want better!
Entertainment is truly awful. Like being transported back to 1970s bad variety shows - resident pianist/crooner makes you want to jump off the balcony.
Rooms are just like the ones I stayed in when I first went on package holidays in the 1980s - same decor too
Reception staff have very poor grasp of English in my experience - in fact I don't think there are any English staff.
Restaurant insist on men wearing long trousers for dinner - heaven knows why this rule in place in this climate when air conditioning is a joke and resulting dress code is sweaty blokes, meanwhile women can wear what they want! Get real.
In summary this hotel is just very complacent and geared up for its regular OAP clientele - has no interest in trying to keep up with the times and offer something for everyone.

Do not book this hotel if you have children or are not pensionable age - there are lots of better hotels to choose to enjoy this great island. If you are an OAP and like your bland food, 1970s variety acts and general trip down memory lane then this is the place to go.

First let me say the hotel staff was excellent! very friendly and helpful. Our travel agency said this was a four star hotel. Maybe from Lobby level down it is, but the upper levels are pretty sad. We were on the third floor and funny enough had a lovely view of the hotel Thomas Cook said we would be staying in!! there was also a nice view of the sea to one side and the mountains to the other. Room was very dated, furniture was in rough shape and the tub had been painted and was peeling badly with rust and just not pleasant. The public areas were pretty nice, great pool area overlooking the sea. Entertainment sounded pretty good, it was ceratinly loud enough as we heard it from our room loud and clear every night. No seal on the sliding door to balcony and I think the back door to entertainment area was left open so no way to block it, even ear plugs didn't do the trick, but thankfully it didn't go on too late. Food was good and a very wide range of choices. Highly recommend walking down the promenade towards LosAmericas area. Once you get past the aggressive restaraunt 'greeters' there are lovely open areas where you can watch the waves and the surfers. It was a wonderful getaway and we found the sun we had been desperately seeking. Felt more than a little decieved by travel agent, but can't blame the hotel for that.

Room Tip: perhaps your best bet for a good room is a different hotel, or wait until it has been refurbished.

Just returned from a 9 day break, stayed here many times over the years. CONS: yes the rooms do need refub but are clean, room and pool towels get thinner every year. PROS: great position with a garden gate that lets you out at a lower level near the a church were there is a lift to the promenard levels where you can walk both ways along the coast to Los Cristianos or La Caleta (about an hour each way). Two pools with plenty of sun beds, gardens kept immaculate. Prices:Pool Towels pay 5E deposit per towel, change as many times as you like at reception, return when leaving and get your 5E back. Room safe about 2E a day.
All Inclusive costs about 26E a day pp over HB(if prebooked, 30E in resort), Lunch on the Terrace is lovely very good choice and drinks on tap, Bar prices beer 3.2E, short with mixer 5.45E, ice cream, soft drinks, coffee and water all about 2-3E. So if you have a couple of pre dinner drinks and a couple after dinner drinks while watching the entertainment or in the lobby bar thats about 17-22E so you would get lunch, tea coffee icecream water and drinks from 10am to midnight for about 5-6E,so AI worth considering. Sum Up; good position, food good, friendly staff, clean rooms if a bit tired, the public rooms gardens and pools are kept immaculate. Good hotel in a good position for a good price. PS: taxi from airport approx 24E each way

Room Tip: check on the price at Iberostar website, book a flight and get a taxi at the airport, 90mins from la...

We have just returned for a 2 week stay in the Bauganville arriving just after the Easter break,it was busy but there was plenty to do. The location of the hotel is ideal near to the shops ,bars and the promenade which can be accessed by means of the security gate near the Pool Bar,a lift near the church will take you down to the promenade avoiding the steps. Once on the promenade you can walk for miles towards Los christianos in one direction or Costa Adeje in the other .
We stayed on an all inclusive package and found it excellent value for money, the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble for them, there were plenty of sun beds around the pools and the pool area was well supervised and kept clean. The gym area was well equipped and supervised all in all an excellent holiday and looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 8th floor which was quieter, the room was a bit jaded ,they agreed to change it if w...

This was our fifth time at this hotel, and we still enjoyed it.Although our room on third floor really needed a refurbishment as furniture was looking shabby and the bath was stained, yet it was still clean and towels and sheets always changed.Hotel has started its refurbishment on the top floor,so expect some noise or ask for lower floor.Rest of hotel especially gardens and pool areas are kept clean and the staff are always working hard with the upkeep. It's mainly Allinclusive but we were half board and found the price of drinks quite expensive compared to outside, bottle water with evening meal 2 euro 25,and 2 small lagers in plastic cups around pool bar were 6 euros,so needless to say we drank outside at other bars.Really that was our only fault as the meals were still good and the staff are all friendly. The hotel is in good location with views over port colon and las americas, although there is a lot of steps and a hill, theres also a security gate through gardens to the bars, but that stays open until 11pm mind some nights we were lucky and got in near 12pm.A few entertainment bars close by and a lovely friendly bar down the steps called "Old Friends" and Neal the owner is very welcoming. We will certainly return to this hotel.

This is supposed to be 4 star and Iberostar standard- no way - food on buffet was barely warm so I used the microwave to heat up food. Beds were uncomfortable and room furniture needed to go to the rubbish dump. It will be refurbished in the future so I was told - no use to me. Upgraded to full sea view - small balcony on an angle to sea - should have stayed with side sea view and saved money. Sliding doors to balcony kept us awake for 2 nights as the seal was broken - whistled and howled. When I complained they said they would send someone to look at it - they did not and the rep said they are all like that - everyone knows it needs a refurb ( but noone tells you that before booking).Too many touts wanting you to go into bars/shops/sell you sunglasses etc. Lifts slow and impossible at meal times - one malfunctioned and would not stop at our floor. Huge hotel and very full over Easter weekend - avoid in future.

Good things - the staff were superb - the waiters, the maids and a fab animation team of multi lingual, multi talented, energetic youngsters. Great fitness classes - even making your own natural face mask session. Close to promenade for walking by sea, good dark sand beach with calm sea - great for swimming. Great local markets. Superb local buses, once you found a bus map it was easy and cheap.

Room Tip: Wait until it has had a full upgrade.
