“December sunshine in a great hotel”

Stayed here for 1 week from 1st-7th December 2012.

Rooms: Allocated a room on the 4th floor - ideal as the hotel has 10 floors and the lifts can be a nightmare at times. The room, as others have said, is fairly basic and could do with some modernisation, particularly the bath as it was in a terrible condition with the enamel all chipped away and scratched. Having said that, the room was very spacious and I was pleased to find that the TV had ITV and BBC which was great. The corridors are also carpeted which minimises the noise.

Food: My favourite thing about the hotel. I am a very fussy eater and I found the quality of the food was excellent and suits all tastes. There was pasta stations with various sauces, meats, fish, paella etc etc. Breakfast was also very good. A special mention to Domingo (one of the waiters in the restaurant) who was as fast as lightning at cleaning the tables. What a lovely, pleasant man who always went out of his way to help everyone. I found it a bit strange that you dont pay for your drinks until the end of your holiday so you are continually running a tab. I would have preferred the option to "pay as you go".

Pool: There are 2 pools, both excellent with plenty of sunloungers. There is also a side gate from the pool which lets you out onto the street (hotel guests only as you need to swipe your card to get in/out). The animation team were always round doing things like aqua aerobics, darts etc and were really pleasant.

This is my 2nd experience of an Iberostar hotel and will definitely return to Iberostar Bouganville as we thoroughly enjoyed it and the hotel is in a great area.

just returned home from this Hotel.we had recently stayed at the Bahia Princess,Sept,which was a different class,this hotel had been recommended ,so we thought we would give it a go,BIG BIG mistake,I could go on for hours ,the faults,the Bouganville has,but I will be as concise as I can.
The first night,I bought a bottle of wine from the Restaurant,15E,I brought the bottle back second night to be confronted by a manager/ waiter,Reinaldo,I particularly took his name,there was myself ,my wife and 2 sons,only I drink red wine,he questioned myself and my wife where we had purchased the wine,we told him ,he said we hadn't and he spent 5 mins at the table ,giving us the third degree ,we produced the receipt,he still disputed this,how rude does it get.
I took my complaint to the main desk and got absolutely nowhere.
I found all this absolutely disgraceful,there were people walking in the reception with opened bottles of wine,we have stayed in many places and asked if we could drink the wine we had bought on the premises in the lounges,and have never had a problem.
Though we were put out by this incident,it would not have put me off the hotel or the rest of the staff,that being so, 95%of the rest of the staff were unfriendly,never spoke upon entering the restaurant,the only one was a lady called Anna,she was very nice,
the hotel is very tired ,cracked floor tiles everywhere,patched up plaster work,ceilings,in general ,dated.
the food was not very exciting, more often than not ,either cold or tepid.
The bathroom door should be removed,cannot move with it on,you cannot sit on WC correctly,the vanity unit sees to that,will not be returning.Not anywhere near the Bahia Princess,where the staff there are a real pleasure,the food is beautiful,we had a walk after a few days to show our sons,and called for a drink,we realised then what a big mistake we had made.you get what you pay for.

Week before Christmas coming back on Christmas day - cheapest holiday ever and thank goodness it was. Surley staff - particuarly on reception and we overheard a few people losing their patience with them. Late cancellation of evening entertainment and same day notification of reduced dining hours by way of a notice in the lift not acceptable - they advertised Christmas Eve as 'Grease the musical' all week then cancelled on the day. Not a massive problem but we would have made other arrangements had we known in advance. No air con in the room - again not a problem as the weather was gorgeous but not too hot in December - imagine what it would be like in the middle of summer.

So - top tips - make sure your room has aircon and ask for a room on a low floor as the lift at mealtimes is a nightmare - you would be better walking (which we did even though we were on 7th floor) and if you want to hire a bike - make sure you have 100 euro deposit in cash (we wanted to do it the day before we left - for 2 hours - but we didn't have enough euros left and they wouldn't take a debit card - and didn't tell us about the deposit until we'd completed all the forms - politely arguing with them got us absolutely nowhere).

Worst communication and customer service that I have ever encountered in a hotel. All that said we had a great time in Tenerife, the perfect sunny week ! And on the plus side, decent food, plenty of choice and nice fresh salads, nice pool area - rear pool is the warmer of the two and a nicely equiped gym.

Arrived back on 28th Dec after the best holiday this year. After reading some previous reviews I was a little concerned about this hotel but once again I think the reviewers stayed somewhere else.The hotel is spotless,the staff could not be more helpful and the food was exceptional. I had a standard side seaview room on the 3rd floor and had no problems with the lifts that other people have stated.You have to realise that the lift covers 14 floors so a wait is sometimes inevitable but you are on holiday so what is the rush?. Overall this is a great hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

Just returned after spending Christmas week at this hotel. you could not fault the food it was excellent, the rooms were tired, end of wardrobe door fell off in my hand, dust behind the T.V., air conditioning not working bed on castors when you moved the bed went over the other side of the room. Entertainment for Christmas was abysmal Christmas Eve 2 entertainers both guitarist
one Elvis impersonater only for the costume you could not tell he was supposed to be Elvis . Christmas Day advertised as the 3 Tenors not true 2 tenors + 1, Boxing Day was even worst advertised as a live band organist and the same guitarist who was on Christmas Eve.

Great Holiday, this was our third time at the Bouganville, and we have already booked for the end of January 2013 for 3 weeks.The main reception rooms are spacious, everywhere clean, the staff friendly and very helpful, they nearly all speak english. everything we had requested when booking was carried out. The dining room is a little noisy at times, but the food is excellent with a great variety. Wish the big pool was heated. yes the lifts can be busy, but we tended to use the stairs to go down, and at busy times just waited for a few minutes for the rush to pass. The bedrooms could be updated, but are all clean and functional. I think a fridge is a must these days.

Came back on 28 dec 2012 & just booked again for next dec for three weeks!! After reading reviews on rooms we were not sure what to expect but they were fine, spacious, very clean with towels and bedding changed whenever you wanted and the maid was in daily. All the staff whoever or wahever their jobs were was very friendly and helpful. There was lots to do round the pool each day if you wanted to join in but no pressure. NO this not a five star hotel but is in a prime position and there is all you could want for an enjoyable holiday and it overlooks the beach. The food was excellent with great menu choices each day, we went half board and dot think we could have eaten at lunch time without putting another stone on each!! ..... This was more than we had hoped for so enjoy your holiday and ignore negative reviews as the rooms are going to be updated this year but even if they aren't just go as the beds were fine. tv and hairdryer worked and youn dont have to take any towels, even for the pool.
