I have just returned (23dec-05) from a seven nights stay at the gran hotel costa adeje and while i agree with some other members coments that it is not quite 5 star but neither is the cost of the stay you are getting a great hotel for less than half the cost of the sea front hotels so if you want to stop there you will pay £1200plus ,i have paid under £500 for the room at the gran and it is only 500m from the sea and i have had a great pool/sea view. The hotel rooms are very large and the staff and food good i stayed on b&b basis which i would recomend.I have stayed in tenerife several times over the last 5 years to name the hotels, med palace, sir anthony and the tenerife princess and i would rate overall the gran hotel the best and the cheapest also the costa adeje area is far better than and much more upmarket than tacky las americas the adeje area has had lots of money spent on it to achieve its upmarket status and you can tell .I will be returning next year ,please note the best rooms are the one's with a pool/sea view and are well worth requesting, there are also suite rooms with sea views which have much larger rooms , large sea facing balcony for about £200 a week more than a standard room which are fantastic . The best deals for this hotel are availble online at beaches and alpharooms.

We stayed here for my birthday, 8 ladies! We got a fabulous deal, and for the money it was superb. The rooms were great, spacious and very clean, the pool area was good, but I would not say it,s for children. Also there was no waiter service around the pool either. The restaurant was like a canteen at breakfast! The poolside bar was dreadful so we ate out the next day. Not as good as the Jardin de Nivaria, but fabulous value for adults.!

Myself & my partner have just returned from this hotel & wanted to post a review for you as we had read some previous ones and were a little concerned about some of the negatives. Well, if you have booked to stay here, then I really dont think you will be disappointed! We loved it here & really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are fantastic, very spacious and clean with everything you need. The hotel lobby is truly impressive as are the staff in reception and elsewhere. The pools are fantastic with three large main ones and one on the roof - the naturist area is NOT around the upstairs pool, its in a seperate area, so dont let this put you off! The atmosphere in the hotel is lovely, its very classy but relaxed. There is a supermarket a few metres away which stocks everything you may need and you do have a mini bar in your room, which is unstocked, so you can fill it up yourself, which is very handy for drinks on your balcony. The last hotel we stayed in was in Las Vegas, and I was worried that this one may be a let down, but it truly wasnt, I would stay there again most definately. I would recommend that you request a high room - the fifth floor is the highest as you have really easy access to the rooftop pool - its very convenient. The location of the hotel is really good too. About a 10 min walk will take you to Del Duque beach, which is gorgeous - the sea & the coves here are great - a lovely place to watch the sunset!
Our only negative was the food. We stayed B/B & despite the breakfast selection being amazing & looking tasty, it really wasnt. Stick to the fruit, breads & salamis etc rather than the fried breakfast, it was tasteless and disappointing. We also ate at the supposedly "a la carte" hotel restaurant - La Laja. My starter was frozen in the middle (fried cheese!) and our chateau briand was served cold due to the poor service of the restaurant staff. They did discount our meal as a result of this, but thats not the point!! Food in general around the resort was disappointing. You have to make reservations if you eat around the Del Duque beach area and despite this, our food was below parr & pricey. We did find a lovely place called Loeur de Filet - an italian restaurant with an extensive menu & the soup is out of this world! We ate there three times in the end. Its on CC Sun Beach - near Yucca Park and is white & red. Service and food is great. You will enjoy it!
Overall, we thought the hotel was one of the best in the area, just dont stay half board, eat out!
We are sure that you will enjoy your stay here - we certainly did!

We have just returned from a week staying at the Costa Adeje Gran - what a beautiful 5* Hotel. However, we have stayed in hotels around the World and this was without a doubt the worst food we have ever had.It was not even up to 3* status, and it really spoilt our stay - we dreaded going to dinner because it was awful. Breakfast was just about acceptable (hence the 'okay but some problems' rating). The Hotel is reasonable value for money, because although it has 5* status, it is nowhere near 5* price - basically you get what you pay for. But if you like good food, you won't get it here.

We deffinitely would not stay there again and would not recommend it.

Its a real shame because the building is beautiful and the rooms are clean, well furnished and spacious.
