“Lovely hotel, made the most of the privilege upgrade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2011

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times although not for the past 6 years (holidaying in other Canary Islands & mainland Spain). It felt like we had never been away apart from the obvious improvements such as the refurbishment & upgrading of the bars & restaurant areas, however, many of the staff remain the same.
I managed to get a good deal for this hotel through trip advisor, however was worried we would be given a broom cupboard as a result!! Just to make sure this wasn't the case emailed the hotel to request a specific room, which was promptly replied to & also brought our attention to the option of a privilege upgrade. We decided to opt for this & were not disappointed, having a superior room with coffee machine, mini bar fridge & ipod docking station as well as slippers & dressing gowns. What we didn't realise until we arrived was the inclusion of a privilege lounge, bar, & terrace where you were able to help yourself to a range of soft & alcoholic drinks from a bar & fridge that was kept well stocked up & included ice & lemon (a prerequisite for a G&T) - we certainly made good use of this facility & often were the only people there.
Although we had booked half board, it was our intention to eat out, however we always found plenty of choice & a wide variety of food so we ended up eating in the hotel each evening. I really enjoyed the salad selection whilst my other half made for the deserts, especially the ice-cream selection & chocolate fountain!!
It was my birthday during our stay & we had delivered to the room a chilled bottle of Cava & pastries - a really nice touch.
We were very lucky with the weather whilst we were there & had a week of sunshine so spent most of the time lazing round the pool. The water was refreshing (otherwise known as cool!) until you got used to it.... which we did & swam every day.
The only other place we ventured to was Siam Park - which we could see from our 9th floor bedroom. We bought tickets, saving 3E each, from one of the ticket offices & walked there. We had a great day, much better than we anticipated, there were very few queues & we went on everything. We enjoyed it so much, we bought further tickets for half price on leaving the Park & had another day there before our holiday finished.
So all in all, really enjoyed our stay, will definitely will plan to return soon & recommend Siam Park for a great day out.

Room Tip: upgrade to a privilege room

Stayed in this Hotel for one week in May. Room was acceptable and we had a good view of the sea from our balcony. Rooms were clean and beds fairly comfortable.
What I did not like was the fact that they charged €10 per week extra for using the refrigerator which was already in the room. They also charged €15 per week for use of the safe which was also already installed in the room. Beach/Pool Towels were available providing you paid a deposit of €15 for each towel, (I did not object to that).
Dining room was a bit chaotic during peak times. Long queues for tea and coffee machines. NO teapots were available at any time, so you had to get up each time you wanted a cup of tea. They had large jugs filled with hot water, but the contents were never hot enough to make a good cup of tea. Pools were clean and water temperature was reasonable.
Was not keen on Beach as it consisted of black volcanic sand. Sunbeds on beach where available at an extra charge. It is not a private beach and was open to the general public. Animation team were friendly but inexprienced. The 3 lifts were inadequate during peak times. I felt sorry for the guests on the higher floors of this 11 floor building.

Room Tip: Some guests who complained were offerd a suite!

My wife and i stoped in this hotel for a special 25th wedding anniversary treat, on arrival after a long day we were told by a very rude receptionist to sit down and wait to be delt with for checking in never been spoken to any 3 star receptionist before, after getting to our room at the front of the hotel 3rd floor opened the patio doors to see a nice air conditioning plant that ran from early in the morning till 11pm at night just what we didnt want, after asking for a high quite room but you can not have everything, We managed to go down for dinner for four nights the waiters must be on some sort of commision to get you to buy drinks one night we were pested four times to see if we wanted a drink by that time we had had it so eat out the rest of the week, very poor luke warm food on a 2star basis hotel , the rooms some have been redecorated and a few little things done to them,if your lucky or pay the extra money you may get one at the back you will get a good nights sleep at the back the refuse collectors are round every morning at 4.30am shouting and banging about for at least half a hour then theres the people on night shift having a smoke all hours of the night thank god for ear plugs, playa de las americas was a great place spoilt by this hotel the best thing was the cosy cafe and the heads and tails pub both within five minutes walk Great foof at both, its a shame the hotel was like this in our point of view this was a special occasion spoilt by very rude staff and a hotel that didnt live up to its discription by our travel company.

This was a lovely hotel within good location. Rooms were very clean and modern and the food was what you would expect. We had paid extra for a sea view room and on arrival we didnt get this. We had to wait 24hours to change rooms and didnt get offered any compensation for inconvience except a small refund for the one night we didnt get the sea view. However, apart from that the hotel was clean and friendly. It was in good location to walk to either the more lively nighlife or walk the opposite way and your in a nice little harbour.

Very relaxing pool areas, beach was ok but not up to much. evening entertainment left much to be desired but if your anything like us we tend to be happy with our own company in the evenings.

Room Tip: rooms with sea views offer a more relaxed feel

This was our second time at this hotel. They have made many improvements and most of the rooms have been upgraded. We stayed in one of the pool bungalows which have a great location at the pool side but they have not been upgraded and are grubby especially in the bathroom, taps/shower not clean. My advice would be to move if you are allocated one of them until they have managed to upgrade. The bar overlooking the sea was also closed, so there was nowhere to have snacks! We were not advised that this work was being carried out and I would advise people to check if there was any ongoing work being carried out before they book! We are thinking of going to Tenerife for Christmas/New Year and if we decide to go back to H10 will check before we go to ask if all rooms have been upgraded and if the pool area is open. The Thomson Rep advised that the pool area and the bungalows were to be upgraded soon and I would not like to go if ongoing work was taking place.

The improvements of the Restaurant El Mirador have been already finished since last week.
As the weather was not very good we took this opportunity to improve the facilities of the Restaurant El Mirador. At present, everything has finished and now that the weather is beautiful, warm and sunny, all guests can have lunch à la carte or just a snack enjoying the great views over the beach.
We work very closely with Thomson so we will be sure they will inform you but please if you need any information do not hesitate to contact us directly, we are always very pleased to help you. Kind regards.

Fast check in freindly staff,Rooms not a bad size we were on 3rd floor overlooking pool/seawiew we were really happy with our room, safe hire is 15euro you get 10 back on checkout.

There are toiltries and a hairdyer in the bathroom.
Aircon is controlled in the room which we like.

Reception very nice to seat or have a drink, one thing we didnt like was when we came in late one evening there was a cat sitting on the sofa also it was walking around reception the following morning.
All staff are really nice they all work hard.
We found the restaurant was very well run and the managers were all hand's on,you had to wait to be seated, the first few day's we were there the restaurant was very busy.
there were some children at the hotel not to many and they were all well behaved.

To be honest we weren't that fussed on most of the food it was alway's luke warm we spoke to a lot of people and they all said the same, and no(we are not fussy people)we travel 4 times a year so we are use to different types of food.We felt that the food let the hotel down.
Plenty of area's to sit around the hotel + sunbed's, ideal location when we were there we had quite a lot of wind but there was'nt anywhere in the grounds to shelter while chilling.

Drinks were expensive at the hotel but most hotel's are,We never watched the entertainment so cannot comment plenty of place's around the area to go all with things going on. Hotel does have a Privlage room which you can upgrade if you wish but let's face it who want's to be stuck in a hotel when they are on holiday you do get drinks etc but i surpose it's up to the individual.

We went to watch Sound's of Musical's we booked with Torviscos Travel, Bus, food, all inclusive drinks, show, we paid 40euro pp you have to shop around all so ask what's included the holiday rep's charge more you can get a taxi there for about 7euro but nothing eles the show not far from Tenerife Pearl,i would reccommend booking transport rather than a taxi.

Room Tip: You can sign up to CLUB H10 for benifit's.

We have just returned from yet another stay at the Gran Tinerfe and again thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been going to the hotel for many years, as a child with my family and now with my husband. It has never let us down and we are looking forward to our return visit in July. The staff go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy your stay so if you have a problem please go and talk to them about it and they will do their utmost to help.
The hotel is in an excellent location right on the seafront and I can recommend a sea view room.We now like a suite on the top floor which gives the extra space and sitting area.It also has a lovely wide sunterrace with sunbeds and an umbrella.
The hotel has undergone a huge refurbishment a year ago and the rooms have been updated as has the restaurant and lobby. This is a lovely place to sit at any time of the day. There is a bar here which serves the chill out terrace as well. This is a new area they created overlooking the sea which has daybeds and seating. It is very popular especially during the evening.
Many people come back here, like ourselves, time and time again often for longer than 2 weeks. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and I cannot speak highly enough of the place and from May it is an adults only hotel.

Room Tip: Book a seaview room
