We spent 11 nights here between 4 and 15 March. Arrived in a torrential downpour, and had to run up the (exposed) steps into the hotel, so not a brilliant start - but the weather was fantastic for the rest of our stay.
Oh dear, how do I start?? Firstly - the reception area. Not over-friendly staff, but efficient enough. Room 639 was pleasant to the eye, but the sliding doors to the wardrobe fell off their runners as we opened them. (Maintenance fixed quite quickly.) Two nights later the clothes rail in the wardrobe collapsed, leaving all our clothes on the floor in a heap. Again fixed by maintenance. On two occasions our room was not cleaned by 5 pm - and on two other occasions there were no towels in the room. Sometimes our drinking glasses were left unchanged from one day to the next. We ended up washing them ourselves after every use. The telephone didn't work, but we only discovered this about 3 days before the end. Oh - and there are only 3 drawers, which meant that my husband lived out of his suitcase. On the positive side, the beds were very comfortable, and the shower pressure was fantastic.
Never saw a sunbed without towels on it from first thing in the morning - no problem for us, as we had no intention of lazing around the rather shadeless sterile area. A walk to Caleta or in the other direction of Los Christianos was much more rewarding.
Lobby/reception/entertainment area. One look on day 1 was enough to disenchant. There is just no quiet area for a drink and chat, and certainly insufficient seating. We watched the flamenco show, which was quite good, and caught the end of the 3 Tenors - which sounded quite good, but at the time we had other distractions at the reception desk. Most of the time we walked across the road to the neighbouring hotel, which had rather good entertainment on offer, or a bit further for a nightcap/coffee.
Food/buffet. We thought the food was excellent, both at breakfast and the evening meal. There should be enough appeal for most tastes. I had the fish almost every night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The problem is the dining service. Waiters seem to clear everything away, irrespective of what is on the table. We had drinks cleared away whilst still half full, and came back to the table once to find other people sitting there. We tried everything, leaving serviettes on the chairs, personal items on view, etc. Nothing worked. Eventually we just made sure one of us was always at the table, hanging on to it for dear life!
Lastly, there was one serious issue. Half way during our holiday my prescription spectacles were cleared away from the table by the waiter (and witnessed by another guest). As soon as I realised they were missing I went to the restaurant, only to be told that they had no keys to open up (it had just closed). The reception staff said that they would have been handed in. For two days I enquired repeatedly at the restaurant and the reception area, to no avail. I spent over two hours at the police station reporting the incident, and couldn't read a thing for the next 5 days. Despite the fact that the guest who had witnessed the waiter removing the spectacles told the hotel PRO, the management refused to believe that they were in any way responsible. The sub-director (who we waited to see for over an hour) was almost rude. There was no apology for the inconvenience and upset caused, and certainly not any offers of compensation in any way.
Would I recommend this? - Only if you can stand loud noise, hectic dining service, and a 2 star experience. Unfortunately the food and the location of the hotel, both positives, are far outweighed by the negative.

First of all we are very sorry that our hotel was not able to meet your standards and was therefore not up to your expectations. We appreciate your comments because they helps us to improve day by day; all of your remarks will be taken very seriously.

During the renovation in 2011 we made the hotel wheelchair accessible. When our guests arrive in our hotel they can enter in three different ways; the stairs/the steep ramp or the disabled ramp which goes up very slowly.
Regarding your room which was not cleaned by 5 pm; you left a ´Please do not disturb´ sign, so we were not able to clean your room.- Without the sign, your room would certainly have been cleaned. We furthermore took notice of your comments relating your disappointments on our staff. I will certainly pass your comments on to the housekeeping manager and restaurant manager, in order to revise and if possible to improve. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that our main goal is to offer the guests top quality accommodation and ethic services, which are prime of importance. Our staff is also highly professional and very hard working. Just like you said the ´maintenance fixed quite quickly´. We have to admit that we had some problems with wardrobe doors, but all of them were replaced last week. We are very sorry about this inconvenience.
Thank you for letting us know that you liked our food in the restaurant and that it could satisfy you. The gastronomy is an important facet of our company and we do our utmost to please all palates. It is enjoyable to read that we could conquest yours.
We feel very sorry that you lost your prescription spectacles. A pair of glasses was actually taken from a table the same night that yours disappeared and immediately brought to reception (which is the normal procedure), but unfortunately they do not correspond to the spectacles you have lost (these are black, with some glittering stones). We remember that we gave you a feedback about this and that we helped you by calling the police. You also wanted to speak to the sub-director, at that moment of time she was in a meeting, but did came down after 10 to 15 minutes to speak to you about the lost of your glasses. The staff is always willing to help our guests and they try to do their best in every situation.
Feedback like yours is very important to us, so we know what we can improve to reach an even higher and more exclusive service for our guests. We will certainly take your comments into consideration and we will do our utmost to improve the points you mentioned.
