“Summer at last...in November!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

First on record that this hotel ticks all the boxes - bubbly/canapes on arrival, upgraded room - plenty of room and immaculately clean - and kept so. Welcome wine in sitting room - splendid little garden with sunbeds and table/chairs - very relaxing with morning paper.
2 pools at great temperature - no dithering! A lady lifeguard to keep an eye on you!

After our summer in the UK it was heaven to have 6 days sun out of the 7 - 73/75F -no burning or sore bits.

The breakfast restaurant had all the things you like to have but rarely do at home - excellent.

The poolsiide restaurant and snack bar were good with very pleasant staff - as indeed were they all at this hotel.
Faint praise I'm afraid for the Kupola a la carte - very nouveau - apart from the waitress Merlla
who gave us very pleasant service in the breakfast restaurant every day as well. Merila is our Hotel Employee choice for our 2012 holidays.

We shall return.

Room Tip: It's a Four and a half not a 4.

This was our second holiday in the Jardines and just like last year, we have spent a very nice holiday. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and facing the ocean so that we went to bed and woke up each morning to the soft sound of rolling waves...a very nice feeling.
The hotel building in itself is not very appealing (false "Art Déco" style) but it has a lovely garden and the lobby area is cosy.
Although we have two children aged 6 and 8, we do not like the ambience of big family hotels and have chosen Jardines de Nivaria instead of Rocca. This means some drawbacks for children (inflatable toys are not permitted in the swimming pool and they have to watch their manners more) but otherwise they enjoy a real VIP treatment by the staff so they are happy anyway.
The food in the main restaurant is of good quality (one should remember that this is an island and nearly everything must be imported from the mainland) and there is much variety so as to satisfy the tastes of guests of different nationalities... Our choice went most often to the "plancha", where fresh fish is cooked right in front of you whereas our children loved the pasta corner. I agree that the mixed salads and some desserts need improvement. However, these are details compared to the rest which is very tasty (fresh juices, fresh fruits and vegetables, Canarian and Spanish cuisine etc.)
The most important for us in this hotel is its staff with a real human touch. Even though they are not trainees of hotel management schools and might sometimes lack professional behavior, they make it up with genuine smile and hospitality. The staff here seem to like their guests and I agree with other reviewers that there is more exchange (verbal or just in terms of smiles and nods) between the guests and the staff in Jardines than in other luxury hotels.
All in all, we are happy with our choice and will probably come back in a year or two.

This was our second visit to this hotel and it was interesting to see several guests at the hotel who were also there during our stay last year. I am always a little nervous about going back to a hotel as it can disappoint and not live up to the previous visit - certainly not the case here. The hotel is beautiful and the staff very attentive. we had asked for rooms in a specific location and this request was responded to before the trip and met in full when we arrived. I really like the little details, e.g. a welcome drink on arrival to relax and take in the surroundings. Since last year all the sun beds had been replaced with up-market wicker ones which were super comfortable. The weather was not great for us for some of the days (something to do with hurricane Sandy I think?) and the hotel reacted very well by opening the restaurant inside as the pool bar was closed due to the rain. I spent time in the gym which is well equipped and only one or two people in there most days. I thoroughly recommend the beauty salon, I had an Argan oil massage which was wonderful and a very good price (on offer). The food in the pool bar in the evenings was excellent and we ate there several times - recommend the monkfish. Drinks are well priced in the bar - no more than in UK and the Tiffany bar is so beautiful. We like the garden rooms and feel it is worth paying the extra for them. People is our party had a special occasion to celebrate whilst we were away and the hotel presented them with a complimentary bottle of Cava and a fruit and chocolate sculpture - a very nice touch. The pool towel service provides a sun bed cover (towel) and another towel for each person and these can be changed as often as needed - it means you have no need to take a towel at all. The warm pool is fantastic for relaxing in and the cold one is a great cool-down when you get too hot. The room cleaning service was outstanding - even on the days when we were in the room more due to the weather the cleaner still managed to get in when we were out and have it all cleaned ready for our return. The products in the bathroom are of a very high quality and again that means it is something else you do not need to pack. I have already recommended this hotel to various friends and colleagues - something I do not generally do but I really struggle to see how anyone could not be impressed by the service, hospitality and surroundings. We will be back again of that I am certain. Thank you.

Room Tip: We like the garden rooms and do feel that it is worth paying the extra

We arrived early evening to friendly reception staff to be told had a room upgrade to a suite. This room looked as it had been recently refurbished and had a lovely view out to sea. On the first evening ate by the pool and was surprised how good and reasonable price it was as we had a bottle and Half of wine between two.The staff are all friendly wether at the Bar, Pool, Reception or Restaurants giving you good service but not overbearing. . Breakfast had a wide choice and good quality and if you wanted eggs they prepared them fresh rather than leaving to stand. The position is great as you can stroll the promenade left for hustle and bustle right for quiet

The last thing Ill say is that it is loang time that i have been abroad and stayed at a hotel with such high standards that lives up to its five star rating and I have never seen so many happy staff. LONG MAY THIS CONTINUE
The pool had no want of sunbeds, even though the hotel was booked out there were plenty available, though because we had huge terrace with sea view ,most days we chose to stay there with wee bottle of cava....after our long walk!! Also great location for beach...we dont do sand ....will be back .

We arrived early in day to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The staff at reception were very welcolming, the immediate impression of the hotel is that it is sparkling clean and opulant .We checked in before one to find we had been upgraded to junior suite....the suite was decorated with rose petals and other nice touches. I love orchids and the hotel had them throughout but more importantly in the room..really gorge. The hotel is Poirot like, touches of art deco, with a modern twist. On the first night we had complimentary cava and canapes sent to the room...smoked salmon and caviar(not sure if caviar as never tasted before ..looked like it )all yum!! The staff are all outstandingly efficient and genuinely dedicated to good service..all had really happy faces. The bar at nice was relaxing ..no noisiness and great cocktails. Breakfast was brilliant no want of fare including cava if you are up to it at that time of day which we were'nt...we like to walk and walk...plenty of walking around ...to right of hotel ...quietness..to left , the frenzy of las Americas...We ate in the Cupola restaurant one of the nights as a treat to ourselves for the anniversary...the food was spectacular the service was top notch, we sat in the courtyard and it was warm even though it was november,we loved the lobster and chocolate dessert in particular.
Tom our waiter....he was more than that...had expertise in local wines and a great help in choosing courses,he excelled himself with his understated but excellent service.

The pool had no want of sunbeds, even though the hotel was booked out there were plenty available, though because we had huge terrace with sea view ,most days we chose to stay there with wee bottle of cava....after our long walk!! Also great location for beach...we dont do sand ....will be back .

I find having travelled to most parts of the world that the defining factor of whether a hotel is great or not is the attitude and service delivered by the staff. Hotels of this price and category are all invariably of a good physical standard - rooms are expected to be clean, services all present and correct. And so it is with the Jardines de Nivaria - a restful, calm jewel in Costa Adeje, close to the beach, shops and restaurants, with great facilities on site - a beautiful salt water pool, lovely pool side restaurant and superb breakfast buffet. There are in fact several restaurants within the complex, all serving decent food. As a rule, I don't eat at hotel restaurants, instead preferring the variety of local eateries, but having had a light lunch by the pool and breakfast three times, I can safely say that I would not be shortchanged if I decided to be lazy and stay on site.

The rooms are spacious, very clean, with a lovely bathroom and a superb terrace. We paid for a double sea view room (in the Taganana block) and whilst the view wasn't quite with the full view of the sea, it was still very pleasant and with had the benefit of a large private terrace with two great sun loungers. All services in the room were of decent quality - the beds are superbly comfortable and I discovered on the second night that there are softer pillows in one of the cupboards - a nice touch if you find the normal pillows too firm.

Housekeeping was exceptional - absolutely lovely staff, catering to all needs with efficiency and a smile, and the evening turn-down service was quite welcome.

And so it is that I talk about the staff, and this is where this hotel excels. Without exception the staff here are superb. From Javier the bellhop, to Hannah the marketing manager and Carlos and his team at reception, each and every person we spoke to were professional, warm, caring and showed that true hospitality very much exists in Tenerife. Whether it be directions, restaurant reservations, silly requests about room service etc, they handled everything with aplomb. With checkout being at 12pm and our flight not till the evening we asked if a late checkout would be possible. Although staying in our original rooms was not possible due to a following booking, Carlos at reception quickly organised a second fully equipped courtesy room for us to stay in until departure time. Never in my travels have I experienced this.

Superb. Really really superb.

ps... at the time of our stay (middle November) the majority of the guests at the hotel were 30+ years old and we really appreciated the lack of children running around and screaming!

Room Tip: The Taganana block is lovely with good views of the pool and sea beyond. We were on the fourth floo...

What you expect from your hotel varies. We booked this hotel from friends recommendation and although we had requested a room with a good view and paid extra for that we were disappointed and asked for a change in day 2. Room 2 had a better view of the garden but had a noise problem from a pump motor. Day 3 and room 3 was a further paid upgrade to a junior suite with sea view. The room was excellent and suite guests get the extras of free morning paper and served breakfast in the Cupula restaurant outdoor in the morning sun. Evening meals were mostly taken at the poolside restaurant - recommend the tapas, say up to 5 dishes for two people. Best wine is from the Alparino grape.
All staff were excellent and even during the discussions for room changes.
The hotel is situated on the border between the edge of Los Americas and Playa del Duque. When you exit the hotel to the seaside do not under any circumstances turn left! That way madness lies - defined as too much flesh that would be better covered, smelly loos, people eating calories at all times of the day and Macdonalds. Turn right to a meandering flowering pathway that follows the shore with nice beach and pleasant cafes.
All in all we enjoyed our week and would go back but to a similar room.

Room Tip: Guajara block on second or third floors.
