Being honest I was both curious and a bit cynical about how a small tea room could be #1 on TA. As an avid TA follower I thought I should check it out!
Firstly this is a small tea room with around 7-8 tables and at certain times you may have to wait a few minutes for a table. The welcome was warm.
There was a simple menu of savoury snacks, sweet treats and hot & cold drinks. The clue to the sweet treats was visible in a chilled display cabinet. We opted for lemon meringue pie with ice cream, plus fruit scone and tea for 2. The lemon meringue pie was amazing - ginger biscuit base, an inch of lemon and what must have been 5 inches of meringue - it was delicious but I should have hidden that opinion better as it encouraged my wife to tuck into it too!
Cups of tea from china cups was very good too. We have another week on the island and will find at least 1 more excuse to go!
