“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Got back from this hotel on the 16th October, fantastic hotel, brilliant location, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was good and a good variety. The rooms were very spacious, our overlooked the sea, just need some air con, but managed with the ceiling fan although could do with speeding up a little.Would definately go back there and would recommend it.

Just come back from a lovely holiday at the Santa Maria the weather was fantastic the Santa Maria was spotless clean and lovely friendly staff. The only draw back would be they need air con. Had trouble sleeping at night there was a cealing fan that gave slight relief. Most people who I spoke to were sleeping on the balcony. Never had any problems getting a sunbed during the day. All in all would recommend the Santa Maria just need to sort out some air con

(Or maybe not if you like relaxing by the (tiny) pool). If you book this hotel, my advice would be to pack your trainers. My husband & I booked this as a cheap get away to have some relaxation away from work. Whilst we achieved this & enjoyed our time there, we found the hunt for a free sun bed as an unwanted daily challenge.

On our first day, my husband & I arrived at the pool at 9.30am only to find no free sun beds. On our 2nd day, we played the game like everyone else & "reserved" our subeds at 8.15am. However when we came down at 9.00am, we found our towels had been removed by the cleaners & our beds "reserved" by another party (who turned up at 10.30am only to then leave after 30 mins & not return until after 1.00pm). We retrieved our towels & found the last two free beds. By our third day, we'd sussed it...you join the queue at 8.15am at the entrance to the pool, run like billio to your chosen sun bed at 8.30am once permitted by the cleaners & stay there (or if you leave the pool area, make sure you're back by 10.00am). One lady removed another couple's towels on the "manager's say so" as they'd not arrived by 10.30am, only to have the surrounding couples point them out. Fair play we thought...

I'm ashamed to say that us Brits have overtaken our European counterparts in the towel reservation championships. Due to the limited space around the pool, there would be no issue if people only used the beds when they were in the area & using the pool/sunbathing.

Overall, a pretty average 3* hotel/apartments: clean, close to the beach (4€ to hire a sun lounger as at Sept 2012), many bars/restaurants within the vicinity etc. just shame about the small pool & sun bed issue. There is also noise from nearby bars where acts sang until late evening. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment on the 4th floor so we're unable to comment on the hotel food.

The resort: most of the bars along the front serve 1€ beer but it tasted rather watered down. Food in the local restaurants was very average, with the same choice being served in most restaurants which meant very limited choice. OK if your not a foodie. Enjoyable overall, with a trip to Siam Park/Loro Parque being a must. Well worth the money & brilliant fun.

We rented a wonderful apartment,In the Santa Maria hotel. we had a great view of the sea which was promised and we were well entertained from the people around the pool and all from the lovely sunny Balcony, If it gets to hot you can let down the yawning which is gift when the sun gets too hot. The apartment has one bedroom which is very aerie with a patio door, lots of space to walk around plenty of space for your clothes, and plenty of spear bed sheets and towels, a safe & what every woman loves a long mirror in the bed room. The dining room was a good size with table and chairs if you want to dine in, there was plenty of pots and pans and delph and nice big mugs for your cup of tea,(not the little cups you get from when you rent out other apartments)The cooker is digital which was wonderful & big oven. A lovely sofa which you can watch the flat screen TV from. The bathroom had a walk in shower, and there was a washing machine with iron and ironing board, hairdryer, Shops are a stone stroll away. Beach down the road, Taxi rank just outside the hotel, Restaurants of every kind, everything you could want for a happy week in Tenerife.

Room Tip: Higher floors have great sea views.

What a gem of a place. Spent 11 nights and returned early hours this morn.
Hotel is in a prime location, central to beaches and plentiful of bars and restaurants, local beers 1 euro!. Santa Maria is clean and friendly. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, self catering. The facilities were just fine and roomy. Large balcony overlooking the pool, which is clean, plenty of beds, however, you do have to put your towels out early! Room cleaned frequently with new towels and linen, couldn't fault the place, carn't wait to go back. Only negative: no air con, it's been soooo hot and air con would have been most welcome, that folks was the only gripe. Adeje is wonderful, hot and sooo cheap, we ate in some fantastic places. Lots to do, go see the dolphins/whales, Siam Park is brilliant. Go on your jollies and have a fab time. Oooooo loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: 6 floors. Ask for a ground floor pool view.

I booked this studio via a private owner and will paste the link below. What a lovely lady who was diligent in her communication at all times. They offered a "meet and greet" which is a lovely touch as this lady keeps the keys and left her number so I had contact should I need anything!

we had a super holiday, great amenities at the complex, and the location cannot be beaten. there really is something for everyone here whatever age group you are! The prices in Tenerife are good and the weather faultless which is why we came!!

would definitely recommend this apartment with its lovely owner and unless you want a 5* luxury holiday there really is everything you need here! I do believe this owner is on "owners Direct" also but their site is below for you.

Ok, let me start by saying that the hotel itself is very clean with polite and friendly staff. Its everything that you would expect from a three start hotel probably built in the 70s. The location is excellent too.

However, the rooms are like furnaces and are in desperate need of air con during the summer months. Our room was on the lower first floor and had a balcony directly above the chinese restaurant in front of the hotel. Like a previous reviewer, our door also had a sign saying to keep it closed.

One particularly hot night i awoke for the fifth time at about 5.45 so i went from the bedroom to the lunge, opened the patio door, went out for some air and then came back in a lay on the sofa dozing in the cool breeze. Within minutes there was someone in the room, i sensed soemone near me, i awoke to see a man going back out from the room on to the balcony. I shouted and ran to the balcony to see him climbing down into the chinese restaurant where his accomplice was waiting. Too late !! my wallet, cash, cards, mobile and iPod were all taken from the coffee table in the lounge in literally seconds!!!.. Now bear in mind that this now 6AM, im up, all the lights are on and its almost daylight outside.

I obviously cant blame the hotel about this in any way and to be fair they were really helpful, called the police who came promptly and were sympathetic. I can suggest that the five rooms above the chinese of which mine was one, 1001 to 1005 are in need of security gates on the outside of the patio doors and also that seeing as the hotel has recently installed cctv just to cover these rooms that there has obviously been a problem here for some time. cctv is only good if its working..

I have read on here and on other sites about robberies at this hotel however i didnt think it would happen to me, but it did. Obviously i wouldnt stay here again but my advice to anyone else would be insist on a high floor room and then you can enjoy the hotel and its facilities as its is quite nice there.

This sort of crime is not just limited to the Santa Maria, its currently rife in Tenerife as my many visits to the police station proved. Always brits there waiting to report similar crimes.

Also, this hotel isnt that cheap, i paid just under £900 for a two bed apartment without air con for two weeks with tv that you had to pay to watch. I have had much better value in the past for less money, but i suppose you just have to shop around.

So, in this case, if you are going to the Santa Maria, just be very alert !!

Room Tip: never stay in 1001 - 1005, these should be locked up and not used for paying customers
