I didn't enjoy my stay at this hotel at all. I phoned the day before we got there to check there were travel cots in two out of our three rooms - they could arrange it but they hadn't got it on the booking. When we arrived I struggled in through the doors with a trolley they had outside with my luggage on. I was trying to control a toddler and the trolley which squeezed through the doors and the bags fell off and my daughter fell over. The receptionist just watched. When we checked in we weren't given any advice on where to find anything, times of meals etc. We went to our room (which was very nice and very spacious) and the travel cot was tiny. My nephew had a put up bed (he's 13 so classed as a child) and had to sleep on the floor it was that uncomfortable. My sister complained twice and was told that those beds aren't meant for children his age and it would be changed. It wasn't.
Anyway, we went to the Sports Bar for dinner which was run by one very busy, but very nice man. The food was awful. The next day we went there for lunch and I asked for a small bowl of soup for my daughter which they wouldn't do. I asked where I could get food for her and was told 'we're a bar, not a restaurant'. Apparently the restaurant do children's food but it wasn't open. I did eventually get the food after another member of staff heard me complaining.
We didn't go to the restaurant at all as it wasn't open at the times my daughter eats (the normal child times like 12noon and 5pm!) but thought it was completely absurd that they only served food in a restaurant which is the same restaurant that the brochure in the room says you can't wear jeans to and asks for consideration using mobile phones. I hadn't taken anything other than jeans as we were planning on walks and visits to places with children and if they don't like mobile phone noise how would they like two children under two?! Bizarre.
We went swimming three times when we were there and the pool does not have a shallow end which was fine but not ideal. It was only on our third visit, after struggling to change the children on stone floor, that the receptionist asked if we wanted to use the family changing room! This was ideal with shower, baby changing etc. but why no-one had offered it before was beyond me!
On the Friday night they had a spa open night and for £5 you got mini treatments, food and drink. I had phoned them before we went for details about the spa and it would have been nice if this had been mentioned. By the time we got there it was fully booked. It was obviously aimed at locals who would return but it was a bit annoying when the spa was fully booked the whole time we were there.
Anyway, I feel like I've done nothing but moan but I wasn't thrilled with the visit. Some individual staff were great. Some were not.
I wouldn't go back and I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
