“Surpisingly good bar food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Hang on, a cheese & onion baguette for £2.95, a ploughmans for £5.25 - surely they can't be good in this day & age can they?

Answer : YES!

We were agreably surprised by both our chosen meals - the ingredients, presentation & quantity were excellent! A good size chunk of cheese, thick slices of ham, along with apple, varied salad and artisan bread provided a memorable ploughmans for my wife, while my baguette shared some of those ingredients, supplemented by a side order of well-cooked chips.

So simple to get right but so many pubs just can't do it - well done to the Bulls Head!!

(btw, friendly service as well, from new publicans, who told us that they took over 8-weeks ago - keep up the good work!)

“Great Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We visited Whitchurch for the weekend and had called in to the Bulls Head for a drink on Saturday night. We found it to be a clean, nicely decorated pub with friendly staff. The landlady mentioned that they were now doing Sunday lunches for £6.95 so we decided that we would return the next day before heading back up north.
We came back the next afternoon and were remembered by the landlady. We ordered our drinks and were asked if we would prefer roast beef or roast turkey, I had turkey, my husband and mum had beef. The food came out promptly and we were very pleased with the variety of veg, my turkey came with the usual trimmings and was delicious. Husband and mum enjoyed their dinner too. We thought the pub was really nice and the staff all attentive and friendly. We would visit again if we're in the area
