“Best Low Cost Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2011

If you are a regular visitor to Jamshedpur and need a budget hotel, then this is the best one to live in . They value regular customers. I have been staying here frequently for last 4 years. Rooms are just great so are the people. Bad part is sometimes room service and the breakfast. I hate the breakfast.

Another issue is the location of the hotel. Too far from tata Steel- Bistupur.

Another best part is the wifi. Speed and availability is just great.

Perspective is everything. My perspective on hotels is western/global. From my perspective this hotel does not yet deserve a 4-star rating on TripAdvisor. Comparing this hotel to others in more remote Indian cities like J'shdpr, perhaps is 4-stars - but I'll be looking to stay at Ginger Hotel during next stay (was sold-out during this trip). Perhaps other reviewers perspective are hotels in more remote India? My Photos attached. Photos on their website represent reality - even if the photo in TripAdvisor does not (the building is packed into a bustling mixed use area. No blue sky surrounding building.)
The GOOD: Really excellent resturant(!) & food (I recmd "Honey/Chilli Chicken" & "Devils Lamb". Avoid Thai Rice). If the hotel were as good as the main resturant this place could be a 4/5-star gem! Attentive staff. Hard/clean floors. Close to Tata Steel & industry (much better than commuting from Kolkata). Decent TV choices (used since WiFi didn't work). AC okay. Decent minibar selection. Building generally clean & at least updated a bit. Lobby & excellent main resturant (called "Gossip") surprisingly contemporary.
The BAD: General wear with many details not maintained. I needed to ask for clean bedding (was used by others & not changed.YUCK!Hair, stains, pillows smelled**). Hotel was not accomodating to our hired driver - 2nd night he had to sleep in car! Limited electrical outlets & towels/cothes, WiFi didn't function. Bad street noise until ~11pm, no fault of hotel. Smallish room. Indian-focused breakfast(sorry, I'm not a fan of curry & strong sauces for breakfast). Clothes hanging was a short enclosed amoire that smelled - hung my clothes from bathroom towel rack.
Summary: Stay here if the Ginger Hotel is booked.
**Note: After bedding changed the bed was okay, but the act of not changing bedding indicates a core problem of management taking short-cuts! Further knit-pick: bed a bit soft/worn/old for me.

I stayed in this hotel twice.

The hotel is about 20 minute away from railway station.

The rooms are about 16' x 15' with nice bed and a attached bathroom (Little small)

The interior of the hotel looks more like a british hotel with low corridor ceiling and lighting.

They have both AC and Non Ac rooms

The hotel is having a restaurant and Bar.

The restauran offers continental/chinese and indian cusines.

The complimentary break fast offered by the hotel was great.

The staff are friendly and warm

Not knowing what to expect, it came as a nice surprise to find after a 4 hour train ride from Kolkata such an oasis in Jamshedpur. Comfortable accommodations, good food and service.

Centrally Situated in Sakchi, Jamshedpur.
One of the finest hotel in Jamshedpur.
Their services Like Cleaning, Dining, Travel Supports were good.
Big Rooms With Big Bathrooms and cooperative staffs. Nice Breakfast & Dinner. Ideal for Business as well as family stay.
I only faced problem in using WI-Fi.

Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. Hotel Ganga Regency
Date: June 09, 2009
Reviewer: A Regular Traveller to this Hotel

This hotel is a good hotel in this area. It's tariff is quiet reasonable and service is very good. It is a bed & breakfast hotel. However, menus in breakfast could have been more.
Rooms are quiet large with interior decoration are quiet pleasant. Manners and behaviours of the hotel stuff is really appreciable.
Food is quiet great specifically the italian dishes. The restaurant of this hotel is quiet famous in this city.
For business as well as pleasure trip in this region this a quiet great hotel at one third of the cost of star hotels with almost same rooms, service and food.

  • Liked — Quietness, Food and manners of the hotel stuff
  • Disliked — Breakfast menu
