Mugdock is reasonably local for me and we often go there for a walk with the dog.
There is a variety of walks - ash paths and moorland walks round the loch and up to the castle.
Highland cows can be seen grazing in the fields just a few hundred yards from the Visitor Centre.
The Visitor Centre has a courtyard with 2 coffee shops a gift shop and a gallery.
50 yds away from the Visitor Centre is a garden centre with a very good selection of plants for sale and a popular restaurant, serving meals and/or coffee and cakes/scones.
Beside the garden centre is a walled garden with a bandstand which hosts "musical afternoons" from time to time. Last time we went a brass band was playing a selection of popular tunes and people sitting in the walled garden seemed to enjoy the entertainment
