“Great week! We didn't want to leave!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

Me and five of my friends have just returned from a week at Palma Bay resort and we would return in a flash! We had a great week in a lovely hotel! We were expecting the worst after reading all the other reviews but we were really pleasantly surprised. We had two rooms in a Habana building on opposite sides of the corridor, both very spacious with three single beds, plenty of wardrobe space, balconies overlooking the pools, large bathrooms and very very clean! The maids cleaned and made the beds everyday and provided fresh towels. There was a disco every night in our building which although a bit dead was fab for us to have some drinks and a dance without having to venture too far! You really cannot complain about the food, you could tell it was good quality and lots of variety, fruits, salads, breads, pasta, meat, fish, veg, sauces etc etc each meal time as well as bay snacks which provided chips, SQUID RINGS, salad, bread and other bits and bobs all day, and a BBQ and pizza area over lunch time if you didn't fancy sitting down. There is no way you could go hungry, me and my friends all have different likes and dislikes and we were generally happy with the food - could have done with a bit more chicken though!! The drinks were as to be expected but the measure of spirit in each was very generous and they certainly did the job! There were rarely long ques, only on an evening but even then nothing outrageous! We managed to get seats at the entertainment every night with no trouble and also had the same sun bed spot all week without even having to get up too early!! The shops, bars, restaurants and clubs surrounding the hotel and on the beach front were nothing but lovely, obviously there are, as with any tourist resort, a lot of people talking to you trying to get you in their shops and bars but this was not a problem - just be polite, they are only doing their jobs!! There were alot of young Germans in the hotel and in the surrounding resort but really if you think foreign people are a problem then don't travel to foreign countries - we were there for a girlie holiday and were happy with each others company so it didn't really matter (apart from the weird men who seem to think it acceptable to constantly stare!)
Overall we were really happy with everything, we only paid about £250 for one week all exclusive and were expecting much much worse! I think it does depend on who you are and who you are with, we are all 21 and easy going but if you were older or with young children or expecting 5* then maybe not for you, but I can't really see how anyone could not enjoy themselves here :)

My boyfriend and i, both 34 yrs arrived back from this hotel on Sat 11th June. Whe we arrived two other English couples in front of us checking in were told they had to move to another hotel for the night called Lunar Park. We luckly stayed in the hotel but it was far from pleasant. We were given a room out of thecomplex in the Nubia block it was underground, no windows, no balcony and you couldnt swing a cat in it. It was pitch black all the time as there was no daylight coming in! I told the reception i couldnt stay there and they said they would find us another room but only the next morning so we had to vacate the room by 11am and wait around until 2pm for the new room. This was then in the Sahara block, also off the site and a very run down dump of a street full of dodgy people wandering around. Do not walk around there on your own, it doesnt appear safe and there were reports of muggings. The block was full of Germans, young drunken Germans, noisey and abusive and constantly singing shouting and fighting. There were 2 fights we saw one on the beach in broad daylight and one at night on the sea front. It was horrible, like a German version of Magaluf! Which i guess is fine if you are on an 18 to 30 holiday. The 3 pools were so jam packed people were like sardines laid around it. the 4th pool was supposed to be an adult only pool which was quieter until people brought there kids around it and then it turned in to a childs play area, and the staff never told them to leave. Dont get me wrong, i love kids and kids will play....but for the elderly there, they wanted some peace and quiet and thats what the pool was there for. The food was ok i guess. There were a bbq and pizza up at the adult pool and a snack bar open more or less all day so you wouldnt go hungry. The night time entertainment was not good at all. There were not enough tables and chairs provided and if you didnt have dinner at 7pm and come out to get a table quick then you would be left standing all night. We dont eat until 830-9pm and everytime we came out of the restaurant, it was full....mainly of German teens hundreds of them. The ques to the bar were for miles and when you got there all you could have were two small plastic glasses. The lager was san miguel. The spirits obviously all local. The cocktails were disgusting and came out of a ready mixed juice machine that they press the button and it come s out warm. On the thursday before we were due to leave, a guy came around from public relations to tell everyone they were opening a chinese restaurant which we booked on for, you could choose the time 730 or 830, which was good, the food was quite nice the best meal of the week. However, the same guy was there and he introduced himself again and said to us....when you get home, if you write a good report about your holiday on trip advisor i will enter you into a draw for a free holiday to come back here.....so folks, dosent that tell you everything you need to know???!!!! Be very careful. When i read the reports on here prior to booking i just thought oh these people are just being grumpy it cant be that bad. but it was!!!!

At under £300 each for a 5 day fully inclusive holiday our expectations weren't high, we just wanted a break with some sun for a few days without it costing a fortune. We stopped in Sahara which is off the main site, it was basic, it was small, but it was also clean. Very thin walls and at times noisy guests but not too bad. Not a great view or location but comfortable beds and as we were not planning to spend much time in the room or hotel it wasn't a problem.

Four nice swimming pools so plenty of choice. We always managed to get sun beds and a place in the sun.

Entertainment and night life not great but we were 3 friends happy with our own company and chatting, drinking and playing cards.

Food was fantastic, cannot believe that anyone could complain about it. Lots of choice for each meal, e.g. breakfast - toast, cereals, fruit, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, yoghurt, plus lots more. Plenty of reasonable wine at lunch and dinner, always lots of salads, chips, great fish, vegetables, meat etc. Wished I could have bottled the fresh tomato sauce to bring home it was wonderful. I need a gluten free diet which can be a pain but this was no problem, Antonio always made sure suitable food was available even if that meant making something especially for me. Staff worked hard, were very helpful and polite. We figured we had got our money’s worth in food alone. We all had tighter waist bands on the flight home and diets resumed immediately!

There is no doubt that this is a German resort, no English bars and few English people but all in all we had a great holiday and we thought it was good value for money. Good but busy beach, easy & cheap to get a bus into Palma which was certainly worth a visit.

All in all a good holiday at a great price.

Me and my husband went here for belated honeymoon 1st - 8th june and it was the worst hoiday i have ever had in my life. IF YOUR NOT GERMAN DONT GO!!! The hotel and actual place only caters for greman people, they have no time for us english. I booked a double room and was given a room with 2 single beds pushed together, my husband asked ir we could be moved to room with a proper bed but was told they do not have double beds only singles. They did then move us rooms as we then complained about the noise for the young germans who every night were comin back to complex singing, shouting and fighting at the top of their voices all night, they were even knockin doors and runnin at 4 am. The reception moved us to another room which they stated had double bed and was quieter ha ha ha IT WAS SAME BLOCK LOWER FLOOR WITH SAME BEDS. EVENTUALLY WE WERE MOVED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES SAME PROBLEMS WITH NOISE BUT HOWEVER ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY HAD DOUBLE BEDS SAY NO MORE. I have never known a hotel like this there was only 1 person on reception anywhere near sort of helpful. NO SLEEP FOR WEEK. SO IF U WANT A HOLIDAY WHERE U DONT WANT SLEEP THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU OTHERWISE DONT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Room Tip: Make sure you get into hawaii or accapulco ONLY

This complex is solely for 18 to 30 year old students. No sleep at night time as they are running around the corridors drunk, screaming, shouting, at 4am. Monday night the 3nd and 3rd floor og Copacabana was flooded, we were fortunate enough not to be affected by the water but was totally affected by the noise as everyone was leaving the 2nd floor past our room. The complex its self was fairly clean, although on a number of occasions we did see ants running around the table cloth in the dining room. I lived on Salad as the meat in the all inclusive was pretty awful. My children found it difficult to use the pool as it was always full of teenagers getting a bit too rowdy! DO NOT leave your sunbed unattended for a second.... it will be gone!!! The rooms were very basic but comfy the staff were lovely and helpful. The complex is in Arenal not Playa de Palma, I will never return to Arenal or this complex

Just returned from a week in nightmare accomodation in nightmare resort - S'Arenal!!! Our room was in Nubia Bay hotel - a satellite hotel which was part of the Palma Bay Club Hotel complex. Arriving late evening we were given a badly photocopied map and told that our room was closeby and on the 5th floor. We were told that there was a lift but not that it stopped at the 4th floor! The room was tiny and my friend and I are big girls!! Approx 8ft 6ins sq - not much room to manoeuvre. 2 very narrow single beds pushed together - too cosy because we both like our own space! The room was on the rooftop of the Nubia hotel and felt like an afterthought! It was clean but that's all you could say in its defence. The only other plus was that we were so far from the main hotel that the noise was much less. The food was forgettable swinging between bland and tasteless to oversalted and inedible and often cold. Breakfast was ok if you like eggs n bread.

Club Palma Bay catered for young people and families but there was NOTHING for my friend and I - not a bit of quiet entertainment, quiz, music . The evenings were long. Equally the resort failed to cater for anyone over the age of about 30!

The resort was the rear end of the planet!! Full of big groups of loud mainly German men young and old who had only one aim and that was to get as drunk as humanly possible, to vomit, pee in public then start all over again. Their drinking started mid morning and went on all day till the bars closed. Not a great advert for the rest of Majorca which is stunning.

Will definitely visit Majorca again but would never set foot in S'Arenal and would advise giving Club Palma Bay a wide berth!
