“great value in a modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

Had a one night stay in the Java. Its very near to Palma airport (5 mins and 3 euros on bus. Bus stops outside Java) . Perfectly placed for the early flight take offs at the end of the holiday.
It has been refurbished recently and the bedrooms are spotlessly clean, quite simply but well furnished. Someone has put some thought into the room design as it has everything needed for a 2 person stay and very functional. The A/C is not as efficient as you would think, but adequate, Rooms are quiet and private enough.
The pool is big and deep enough at the deep end for swimming and diving. Plenty of beds and shades around the pool and a super upstairs terrace for sunbathing. Loads of seating options ,inside and out for just sitting around. Bar and food prices reasonable though not as cheap as the promenade eateries just round the corner (never are , are they?)
The communal areas are spacious, A/C and well furnished.
Food (went H/B) is fine, usual buffet stuff at dinner and breakfast, a good selection for everyone's taste but not Cordon Bleu. Everything spotless and efficient.
The staff are fantastic, arranged the early check in we asked for and were courteous and efficient..
Complaints? Very few. The WIFI is 5 euros a day and if you are British there are no UK channels on the flat screen TV. Everything else was remarkably good.
All in all a great hotel at a reasonable price for a short stay.

Room Tip: a sea view room gets the sun almost all day.

I stayed with my family in this hotel during August 2013. The staff is very helpful and organised. There was a different event in the hotel every night where you could enjoy the coctails from the bar as well. The Wi-Fi which had a great signal and you can have internet on the beach as well (if your device can fetch it) costs 20€/week. The gym which as small but sufficient was for free and the spa area as well. You can get a great massage in hotel in the outside pool area, which was very relaxing. The AC was very good and it's very easy to use. The food in the hotel was excellent and they were making fresh fish or meat for dinner and eggs, omlettes and pancakes for breakfast every day.

If I would go to Mallorca again, I would definitelly go to the same hotel, it's worth the money.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3th floor or up on the side that is facing the ocean so you can enjoy the view of...

Rooms dirty with hair and dust everywhere, they make you rent for a fee beach towels, as well as inside room safety box. Internet payable and very costy. They make you pay for it and its not working. Pretending to be a 4star hotel but in my view its not even a 3star hotel. Staff are very rude, not smiling and not helpful at all. I think that its a very commercial hotel, don't even think about staying in. You will regret it for sure.

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your review and for sharing your point of view about the services and facilities of Hotel Java.

We would like to inform you that we do have been taking action with some weak points you informed us in your review. Therefore we thank you as we are seeing improvement in all of them.

About the wifi, we do know that many clients expect nowadays to have it for free and included in the price. Untill now, we consider that many clients do not need or use it, and there is no reason to increase the price of the room with this amenity. It is possible we are wrong, if this is the case, I am sure you will understand our point of view.

Yours sincerely,

We stayed at this hotel during July 2013. The location was good, it was about 10 minutes from the airport and a 3 minute walk to the beach. We had half board, breakfast and dinner was decent but not amazing, although there was something for everyone. Our room was clean and modern, with a lovely sea and pool view. The majority of the staff were fairly pleasant, (although it is clear that hospitality is not an art form like it is in other countries!). No need to get up early and reserve sunbeds, there were always plenty and the pool was never too busy. On the strip near the beach, the bars and restaurants are not spectacular but there are bus stops right outside so you can easily get a bus into town etc. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Java.

The criteria for my rating is value for money according to my own standards (so if e.g. the weather is bad it has no influence). What is not mentioned met my expectations, but nothing extra. About amenities and location I have of course an idea of what is awaiting.

Booking:
- hotels.com
- 7 nights
- Standard room (208)
- 2 adults
- Price including half board: €125/night

Pros:
- Renovated and modern
- Refrigerator room
- Powerful air condition
- Good capacity in restaurant for breakfast and dinner
- Late check-out possible

Cons:
- €20/week for unstable WiFi
- No top restaurants in the area

Other:
- Ask for room on left wing (when getting out of the elevator) to get sun on the balcony in the afternoon
- 80 % of the guests are German!
- Easy transport to Palma City by bus (€1,50)

If you are searching for a place far from the big crowd, Java is the best place to be!
Java is a family hotel and during our stay we could see families with small kids and seniors.

Location:
Java is in a quiet area located at Ballermann 14 and 8min by bus from the Airport (costs €2,50 and stops right in front of the hotel) and 10min from Palma (also by bus). It's 20min walking from Ballermann 5, where you'll find Bierstrasse and MegaArena.
Java is 2min from the beach and has an exclusive path for the guess to the beach, which has a great piece of sand in that area and small shops/markts all around.
Friendly staff speaking good English.

Hotel:
We read on Tripadvisor that the hotel has just been renewed before summer period and we could see that. The official pictures are exactly what you'll find there. It has big outdoor swimming pool (with beds and sofas), wellness, indoor swimming pool, bar, restaurant and rooms.
They have an entertainment program with local attractions at the Bar in the evenings.

Rooms:
We noticed that all rooms has a balcony and see/swimming pool view.
Luckily we got the room on the first floor that had a balcony and a private area with 2 sunbeds and access to the swimming pool. Next time at Java, we would like the same room (sun until 7pm). The room has airco, minibar and flat TV with many channels in German and only 1 in English.
Bathroom is really good, daily cleaned with a great shower and space enough.

Food:
We chose the halfboard package once the difference from BB wasn't that much.
Breakfast has a big variety of food - specially british breakfast. You can also get fresh fried eggs, omelets, pankaces and toasties. Unfortunately there aren't many options of fruit and any fresh juice.

At dinner they do have a big buffet for all tastes. Food is average and they must find a way to keep the food warm. Although we were 5 nights at the hotel, we only ate twice and both times dinner was cold.

WiFi:
Wifi is paid - which is a pity for such a structured hotel. There are 2 computers at the lobby where you can acess.

Staff:
Staff from the hotel is really friendly and helpful. We could get some great tips with them.

We were at Java in the beginning of July and highly recommend.
