4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Just back from a week at the blue sea los fiscos hotel... we paid £600 for a week ALL INC and i have to say over all me and my partner are happy... ok so the food could of been a little more varied but if you want 5Star pay for it!! Room was a fair size and tidy and clean! staff were very polite and entertainment was a good laugh, Charlie who was in charge of day/night entertainment was never shy in coming over to us for a chat and a laugh!! All round bubbly girl even wen weather was not so good she lifted spirits!! so if your after a relaxed hotel but not snobby then go here :} will def be going back!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms over pool were nice

We were only after a cheap and cheerful holiday and that's what we got. We would go back and recommend these apartments. The apartments are basic and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed AI the drinks were a little water down. The food was basic but eatable. A short walk to the small town although uphill on the way back. There are quite a few steps through out the the apartment area. The pool was clean but cold. All ways plenty of sunbeds. If you walk down the hill a little way there is a pub called the purple turtle well worth a visit English owned and very friendly with cheap drinks and food.

Blue Sea H, Manager at Blue Sea Hotel Los Fiscos, responded to this review, March 12, 2013
Much-esteemed clients,

Thanks for writing a review about us through this means, and we would like to clarify some aspects.

In the first place, I am able to state that all apartments have been cleaned as per the schedule established, and bed sheets have been properly changed. Secondly, and regarding the menu, there is a fourteen-day menu, aiming precisely at the variety and choice. And finally, with reference to the safe, a deposit of €10 is to be given when hiring it, but it is refunded on departure, and the week is €20; so the safe does not cost €50, it depends on the renting time.

Again many thanks for devoting part of your time to writing about this hotel of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote.

Kindest regards,

Lola Bueno,
Manager

Quite bizarrely, we picked Lanzarote cos we had been told it wasn't hilly. OMG. You defo need to be fit to walk from Puerto Del Carmen back up the hill (nicknamed by the locals as 'Cardiac' Hill) to Los Fiscos!! Costs from 3 to 4 euros in a taxi and you can get a bus to the top of the hill and then a short walk to the hotel. But that's our mistake, not enough research!!! The hotel staff are amazing. Friendly and helpful receptionists booked us in. First impression of the hotel was lovely. Clean looking from the outside and the same once inside the foyer. The hotel is made up of separate buildings so you may have to leave the reception building and walk to another with your cases and that could mean going up and down a number of external staircases with your luggage. Was no prob for us. First reaction when saw the room - dismal. Went to friends room to consult. Theirs slightly worse than ours. BUT if you look past the decor they ARE clean and there's (more or less) everything there that one needs. So we decided to stay without any fuss. The bathroom was clean (not our perfect, but clean). The shower was powerful (a big plus). (Beds/towels changed every other day). So down for dinner. We paid for half board for the first time and will NEVER go self catering again. There was something for everyone (in our opinion) all self service. There was always a soup on offer. There were a number of hot dishes: a meat dish (predominantly pork or turkey), a fish dish (large chunks of fish in a Mediterranean sauce, a rice dish, a pasta dish, meatballs, vegetables, pizza, and various sauces to suit the meal. There were varieties of potatoes on offer: always chips and various other from plain mash or Duchesse, to gratins or fried/roasted 'scallops'. A huge choice of salads, cold meats, cheeses, including pickles, olives etc. Probably much more, far too numerous to recall here. There was a choice of white wine, red wine or sangria (and there may have been beer too??). The sangria was delicious. There were soft drinks to choose, and water. Desserts were always on offer and plenty to choose but very simple ones. A tarte, jelly, cake, creme caramel (delicious) or blancmange of sorts, sometimes rice pudding and always ice cream, vanilla, strawberry or chocolate. A good choice of bread. Only problem was by the end of the fortnight the choices became 'sameish', but plenty of food hot or cold. The dining room staff were wonderful. Happy, friendly and removed used dishes quickly and discreetly. An ambient room with presentable table linen and plenty of quality paper napkins. The beds were firm but comfortable. If you go out of season, you will need to request further blankets. They supply one each. We were there for the first two weeks in February and although we didn't need them, nearly everyone else did!! There was entertainment in the bar most evenings or an area below reception with comfortable seating and a pool table, a small library, a computer and various other 'games'. Or, of course you could choose to walk dinner off and go down into Puerto Carmen for the evening, which I'm sure will be buzzing with life during the season. Lots of the shops were open for browsing in the evening (again remembering we were out of season). The sunshine was warm most days (we had three cold days). It is ALWAYS windy. When the sun shines, that warm breeze is wonderful, but on the colder days and evenings you definitely need warm clothing at this time of year. Most of the time the temperatures were in the early twenties and sometimes the sun was so hot you could easily have forgotten it was only February. Breakfast was wonderful at Los Fiscos. Your favourite cereal may not be there but there is a choice of four or five. Everything else conceivably imaginable. Puerto Carmen is absolutely beautiful. Just sitting chilling with a glass of something or coffee and cake and looking out at the big breakers rolling in to the rocks/beach is idyllic. Plenty going on and a very pretty extremely long promenade. You could easily lose a day just browsing/chilling. And there were plenty of souls braving the waves too. Altogether wonderful place. An absolute must is a trip to Timanfaya. We hired a car for four days so didn't do the coach trip (expensive if you are a family). 9 euros each for adults when we arrived and you are taken round the site by bus. Unforgettable experience. DO IT. Another absolute must if you have a car (but sssshhhhh, don't tell everyone, let's keep it just for us) is Le Golfo and Le Santa on the other side of the island. It was a warm blustery day. The sight was breathtaking. HUGE turquoise waves lashing in. Nothing except you and nature (and an odd cafe with comfy sofas overlooking the view). Perfect. The Sunday market at Teguise (inland) is phenomenal with plenty of cafes offering mid morning snacks (some with brandy!). The atmosphere there is wonderful in the sunshine (not so wonderful on colder Sundays!!) A car is certainly a good way to see all the island has to offer and there are some wonderful days out with exquisite views on offer and remarkable places of interest. There are a variety of beaches, from the almost black sand to the white sands and of course the rocks. I should say quite categorically there is sure to be something here for everyone. Sun, sea sand, walking, sightseeing, water sports galore and an atmosphere of happiness exuding from the islanders themselves. There are also various boat trips. The one we chose was Fuerterventura and then by bus to Rosario, half way down the coast. Disappointing place. Perhaps we should have stayed in Carralejo for the day. SO. To summarise. Lanzarote, a unique experience. Puerto Del Carmen, for us, perfect. Los Fiscos, low end budget hotel with a big personality, offering everything you NEED, except a kettle - you can hire one!!!!!! Have always thought I'd never go back to the same place twice. That notion may just have changed. Don't expect five-star - you won't get it here. We got the three-star we paid for with bonuses. Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoy your holiday. We did.

Room Tip: Apparently the room above reception is noisy (we heard). Check how many staircases you have to go u...

This is my second time in this hotel. It's really good value considering what you pay. Yes you get plastic glasses but that's because the bar is beside the pool. I found the staff friendly and helpful and Charlie tries to get everyone joining in the games during the day and in the evening. We had a really good room again overlooking the pool, and beyond to the sea.

Room Tip: rooms 247,248 & 249 have good views over the pool but you will get noise from the bar.

Just came back after 2 weeks all inclusive, really dreading it before we went after reading some of the reviews, but pleasantly surprised. Our room was great, very big overlooking the pool, sea and mountains it was clean and towels changed every 2 days which is fine. Food was edible and even nice most of the time, but not always very warm. The hotel is not really suitable for young children or elderly people with walking difficulties as there are many steps which cannot be avoided even to get from the bar/pool area to dining room or reception. We had a really good time, if you get a decent room, and a good crowd of people staying at the time you are there, then there is probably very little to complain about, it's what you make it, we just laughed off the things that weren't quite right, (like cold baked beans) that way you enjoy your holiday more, some people like to moan about anything just for the sake of it, if they did less moaning they may even enjoy themselves, for the person that wrote about having.no air con in the room, and then saying it was freezing at night and there wasn't enough blankets, then went on to say he left his window open all night and got a drunk person peering in, just contradicts him or herself ifmyournon the ground flor you just don't leave windows open, no matter where you are !

Room Tip: We got room 250 - really good room large overlooking pool, sea and mountains at end of block top flo...

Stayed in Blue Sea Los Fiscos from 17th to 24th Jan this year (2013). Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in - stayed in Lanzarote twice before and accommodation always of a high standard until this time. Dingy apartment at front of hotel just over reception, and asked for sea view. The sea view was between 2 blocks of apts across the road and could see a strip of sea. When I asked to be moved, I was told that I would have to pay Euro 20 for the change, plus 10 euro per night, totalling 80 in all. I did not think it was worth this, as the other apts may have been just as dingy. Crooked toilet seat, no kettle, no microwave, dirty balcony with stains, only 2 or 3 channels in english on TV, incl skye and CNN. Also, about 15 mins walk from puerto del carmen and had to climb 2 hills each time we walked back to the apartment. Never again will I stay in such shabby accommodation. Bernie, Mayo.

Room Tip: Pool view would be better than sea view - as at least the pool view apts can get a better view of th...
