“Have to wonder what some people want for the price....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

1st time in Lanzarote/PDC/Los Hibiscos and 1st time on Tripmoaners, as my husband affectionately refers to it. A while back we were unsure as some people had written quite negative reviews of this hotel but me, my husband and two teenaged stepsons really enjoyed our stay there. Apartments were large, comfortable and kept clean and have pretty much all you need, we had nice views. We took the all inclusive and whilst the food won't have Gordon Ramsay quaking in his boots, we thought it was pretty decent, we certainly found plenty to eat each meal. All inclusive anywhere can get a bit samey but the hotel is in a great location with lots of nice places to eat just down the road so you can change it up without breaking the bank. The drinks were decent too, nice sangria and they do a lovely non alcoholic cocktail for the kids. There isn't much in the way of entertainment but great mix of really eclectic music. The pool is small, a bit chilly but clean (some people commented it wasn't< I can only assume it is because there's a few twigs in there but it is a very breezy place, we saw the guy cleaning the pool out every morning). With regard to the staff, the clear up rate in the bar and dining room is efficient, there are one or two miseries among the staff but the vast majority were very friendly and helpful - there is a little cleaning lady who sings all the time, I wanted to take her home:) Windy place and the corridor windows do rattle a bit at night. We would all go back for def.

Just arrived home after spending a week at Los Hibiscos.
We went with an open mind not expecting 5 star especially at the price we payed for our holiday.
No need for transfers just jump in a taxi from airport around €13 to the hotel door!
Check in no problems and purchased wifi for the week that is €20 for a week or €5 for just a day. well worth it wifi very good all round pool and bar area and could get a good signal from balcony of hotel room.
Rooms are clean with small kitchen and flat screen tv that is €5 deposit for remote.
We could alway get hot water anytime of day with bathroom having a bath with shower that was quite powerful and cannot complain about the bathroom.
Unusual two single beds in bedroom so after abit of moving about they where together a little unusual not having a double but couldn't complain.
Only thing i found unusual and annoying is there is a window in bedroom that opens straight into the hallway that made hearing people coming and going a little louder.
All in the room didn't disappoint with cleaners coming most days which was good and kept clean.
The food as you often find with all inclusive is a little repetitive but we have found this to be the same at the majority of all inclusive, beer and wine along with soft drinks on tap for self service along with a salad bar, and you normal chips, pasta, meat, vegetables and a desert of mainly fruit and jelly along with selections of cakes and ice cream. Lunch and dinner are the same so can become very repetitive we where never up in time for breakfast so cant comment on that.
Pool had plenty of space and with plenty of beds and the bar severed all day with hot drinks and both alcoholic and soft drinks.
Entertainment was poor and the only let down cannot really comment on it because it was non existent and the dance show rather cheesy and generally poor and would rather it didn't put it on and you could at least talk to each other.
Basically we where pleasantly surprised with our stay and would recommend los hibiscos to anyone and we found our holiday to be great value for money.

Just returned from 1 week here....glad it wasn't 2!...although very clean and reception staff very freindly and cleaners very efficient...the bar staff could have a bit more of an effort seeing as there is NO entertainment at this hotel and the bar closes prompt at 11pm!...when you pay all inclusive prices i expect to be able to have alcohol beyond 11pm on my holiday! instead of having to go out to the bars and get ripped of....10 euros 50 cents for a malibu & coke and vodka & coke seems rather steep on top of having paid for drinks already!
FOOD.....oh dear, how i looked forward to breakfast every morning (so long as the garlic mushrooms weren't about to spoil it) but as for the rest of day FORGET IT.....some people were praising the food, i can only assume they live of tesco Value crap back at home cos it was no more than this, is what i can imagine.
Ikm not dissing the place in slightesst, im merely making my personal opinion of which we are all entitled, but out of the group of a dozen a so of us who made drinking buddies until 11pm then i think you will find NONE of us would return here, despite its nice location, if you walk on the other side of the road to the stinking wheelie bins.
Now last but not least, the bites, yes the bites i have come home with and had to have treated....on our last but one night we ame home from eating out and noticed HUNDREDS of the tiniest ants i have ever seen crawling all over the work top and our belongings of which i binned certain stuff....it made my skin crawl and no i didnt go to reception as it was late and i dint want too amke a fuss....i dealt with it myself with hot water (there is kettle in room)...howvere i had wondered why i kept getting bitten and saw no midges anywhere, I have got 2 nasty bites and numerous smaller ones....from where im not sure but after seeing this army of ants i think i now know....big bite from something so small!
Last little note, it was nice to see the owner (?) of the hotel chatting to a group of lads when they were goign out saying he respected thery wanted a good time but could they respect other custoemrs on there return..that was good too se and fair play to the lads for being quiet too.....nice group of holiday makers whilst we were there and mad our own entertainment...like the wedding ceremony!...haha...even the miserable bar woamn asked us if it was real, but she did promptly remove our bottle of bubbly we had been and bought...well you would have thought she may have joined in the fun....but no, she spoilt that bar!
Don't be put off by this review....try it for yourself...this site isn't a bible, its a guide....ENJOY!

We stayed here November 2012. Despite unusually poor weather we had a great. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Apartments are clean, spacious and well equiped with all you need for a self catering holiday. The beds are also comfortable. There is a small hill to get to the hotel but looked like one of the smaller hills near this location. Right next to 2 Spar supermarkets, a few min walk to the beach and some great bars and restaurants. Recommend Africa bar, Route 66 bar and the Sunset Bar. Ate at the marina one day. If you love fish we definately recommend. Didnt eat at the hotel or drink there so cant review those. All in all a great home for a week and very cheap enjoyable holiday.

On my last evening at this resort and all I can say us what a lovely place. We are all inclusive and the service is fantastic, lovely staff, immaculate apartments, breakfast and lunch is good and always something for even a fussy eater, cannot comment on dinner in evening as we always go into town in the evening for dinner, some gorgeous restaurants close by, the golden chopstick right beside on the right is fantastic and also the Chinese at the bottom of the very small hill on the right oriental world and also loads of other lovely places like American/Indian, loads of great bars also and something to suit all ages with some great rock music, also the island bar in old town is a must for a great evening entertainment with Rory, if you stay here have a fantastic holiday. :o)

Just got back today after a weeks stay at the Los Hibiscos, firstly the location is excellent with the strip being just down the road along with a fantastic beach. The hotel is great in most aspects but is let down by the simplest of things,
The good points
the rooms are large and spacious and very clean, ours was cleaned 5 days out of the 7 we were there.
The staff are very friendly, worked very hard and seemed very welcoming, the waiting staff and barmen were extremely friendly.
The beer and spirits were decent enough so no complaints there.
Now the not so good points
The quality of the food was really pretty good it was just a shame that it was always barely warm even if you were the first people in the dining room when it opened, we thought this would improve but it just didnt, if anything it got worse which was really disappointing and it wasnt long before we started dining out. The food issue would be such a simple thing to fix just by turning up the heating elements in the serving areas so we were quite shocked that nothing was done after several complaints and felt that this was the hotels biggest let down especially considering we were all inclusive and we were having to buy food elsewhere.
Its a shame that there isnt any entertainment at the hotel in the the evening as the bar could be so much better but we think that may change in the near future as the new owners seem to be making improvements to the bar area and it looked as if they might be planning on putting a stage area in for entertainment.
To sum up
On the whole this hotel has a lot going for it, its clean, in a fantastic location and good value for money. If they sort out the food & entertainment issues this hotel could be absolutely fantastic. Would we go again " absolutely " Would we recommend the Los Hibiscos " definately "
