“Winter Week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Our winter week was booked through Jet2 Holidays and included flights, transfers and accommodation at a very reasonable price. Outbound and return flights were on time and very comfortable. The transfers were very good and very efficient. The accommodation consisted of a Lounge with kitchen area, one bedroom, and a bathroom with shower. The apartment was very clean with decor much better than some I have stayed in, and the kitchen was basic however quite well kitted out with utensils etc. The bathroom was clean however a bit worn. I should point out that the towels were of better quality than we have experienced in more expensive accommodation. The hot water was in constant supply. The bedroom was adequate although the bed was quite hard. All lights worked well and we also had a small porch area to sit out on as we were in a downstairs apartment. The gardens and pool were well looked after and kept clean. The sunbeds have seen much better days and I was surprised to find that a cushion for the beds was chargeable at 1 Euro per bed per day. I have never been charged in a hotel for a sunbed! Other charges were a room safe, and the remote control for a rather old TV. The only English channel I found was Sky News, so a waste of money there. The staff were mostly very friendly. Reception was closed on our arrival and did not open till five PM. There is a pool bar/restaurant, and they have a basic reasonably priced menu including breakfast. Drinks were a bit more expensive than on the main seafront bars although it is a 10/20 min walk to shops and restaurants. The complex is situated close to the airport, and aircraft noise may be a problem for some people although there are no night flights and the first out was a propeller plane at about 7:30 AM. The noise did not disturb us however it may some. Noise takes me to soundproofing.... Spanish accommodation is not renowned for good soundproofing, and these apartments must be among the worst. Footsteps above, chairs dragged, and water/ toilet flushing are very clear. Thank goodness no honeymooners were above or next door..! It seems many of the apartments are privately owned and this seems to create a sense of aloofness in some of those owners. I have stayed in many such places and generally holiday people will say good morning / nice day etc. The Pocillios Apartments have mare than teir fare share of people with a weird attitude of superiority. Quite off-putting I think. The location as stated is close to the airport and on the very edge of Porto del Carmen. A bus into town is again a 15 min walk away. The service is very good, and the drivers are very friendly, some with a better command of English than residents of the UK. We ate out mostly, and food is very reasonable in all types of restaurants, with wine at a good quality and also reasonably prices. We were in Majorca earlier and a meal out was not far from twice the price of Lanzarote. Our meals in Majorca were in the region of 45-60 Euro whereas similar menu in Lanzarote was 30-40 Euro. Excursions to Playa Blanca and an all day South Island trip were very good value and very interesting. well worth taking. Verdict, a reasonable priced break with a good company to a nice resort although a remote location for accommodation.

Room Tip: If available get an upstairs room that way you make the noise.

After reading all the reviews we were a bit sceptical about going, but need not have been. Rooms were cleaned 5 days a week, living area was all clean and tidy and a bottle of water awaited us in our arrivel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the main receiptionist. Definitely go back again and would highly recommend to other

Just come back from these apartments. First week, perfect, second week horrendous. A party of 4 X 20 year old couples from Ireland turned up, seamed like 40 of them. Swearing, shouting, arguing, during the day and when they came back at night aprox 04.00/05.00a.m. I am saying this because the apartments are being sold off one by one and there was no input, help from the management/ owners. More bothered about selling the the apartments. We kept out of the way as much as possible. The complex is slowly dying which is a shame because it really is nice. Still Pocillos is nice with plenty to do. First time I have written a negative review but it had to be said.

Just returned from two weeks at these apartments. Have stayed here before but a few years ago. Our apartment was clean and spacious, had a huge balcony. The apartment was cleaned 5 times a week and our towels were changed regularly (even the day before we left). The noise from the airport did seem much louder this time and also the road noise but as our apartment was at the very end of the complex, we put it down to that. If people want five star accommodation, then pay for it. We certainly thought we got value for money. The reception staff were always helpful. We didn't use the pool or the bar so cannot comment on them but there were always enough people around the pool. Eating out was good, take a walk along the prom towards Playa de las Pocillos and go to Picasso's run by a Scottish couple Dave and Joyce, its only a small cafe bar but the food was second to none - try Joyce's home made steak pie or their Sunday roast beef - heavenly. La Brisa in the Centre is also very good and good value for money. All in all we had a lovely break with smashing weather. Our 5th trip to Lanzarote and Matagorda but I don't think it will be our last.

Room Tip: Apartment 39 had a huge balcony

We stayed here from may 5th to may 12th . When we arrived we had a lovely receptionist who , throughout the week there was a different receptionist , think she was German , she has to be the rudest woman I have ever met . Everything was a problem for her . She clearly doesn't like her Job. We needed to get our boarding passes printed on the last day which they offer to print for free . I had to log on to their extremely slow broadband It's more like dial up and sen the files to the receptionist , she made such a song and dance , she printed off the sme one twice and then said she would have to charge us for printing and I said fine , she made such a hullabaloo about it , it ended up combing to 1.50 what was the big deal like . She upset my sister and my mum . We were speaking other people stainv there who ha the e problem with her . She need s to remember that it's us that pays her wages . The bar staff could not have been nicer , absolute gems compared to the receptionist . Other than her the apartments are cheap , clean , spacious , great value . Would stay there again once she had left !!!

just spent a week at the pocillos apts 15-22 sept and had a very enjoyable stay-there is quite a lot of aircraft noise as it is very close to the airport but you get used to it after a day or so......we had apartment no 10 which we tried to change to an upstairs one but there was none available so had to stay put, apts very spacious look like have had new kitchen fairly recently new sofa & chair, beds quite hard but after a drink or 3 not so bad lol. could also do with air conditioning as very warm at night, they do fans but was none left, because the complex is small everyone is quite friendly, plenty sun beds to be had, bar that does food......look out for daily special's that have a drink thrown in, you can even have cider :-) mostly friendly bar staff you can have a laugh with them, pool quite cold could do with heating slightly, but saying that these minor things did not spoil our holiday we had a great time, apparently they are having the hottest september on record..... was very hot at least 37, you can also rent cushions for the sun beds at 1eu a day, well worth it as plastic sun beds, all in all a cheap pleasant place to stay would deff reccomend....... happy holliday's !!!!

Room Tip: ask for upstairs room they get more sun
