“Relaxing Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

My wife, myself and two young kids spent 3 weeks in these apts in june/july 2013 and we were delighted we chose these. We have stayed in 2 other apts in Matagorda and these were the best. Staff were very friendly and so helpful. 24 hr reception was only a phonecall away. Last 2 places we stayed reception was open a few hours in the morning and evening which is useless if you need any help. Staff here were able to hire a car and organise any day trip at a cheaper price. Computer in reception to online check in for flights 1 Euro for 20 mins and 1 euro to print each boarding card. Asked for a wake up call at 4am and taxi to collect us at 5.15am for our flight which they were only too happy to do. The Cleaning girl who was very friendly came in 4 or 5 times a week, beds changed and fresh towels every few days. Very close to shops and the beach which is ideal with young kids. Maintenance were efficient when the fridge broke a new one arrived within an hour. Sunbeds always available never had to place towels out. Did not eat in restaurant as the centre was nearer to us. Over all we will be returning as we really enjoyed our holiday

Spent two weeks in these bungalows from 6.6.13 to 20.6.13, my husband, myself, my daughter and 4 year old granddaughter. Paid for 2 superior bungalows, but God knows what they were. I can only describe them as less than basic. Have been to Lanzarote many times, going twice a year and stayed in basic accommodation, but this was always clean with beds changes regularly, towels supplied regularly and apartments cleaned every day. Bungalows Las Gaviotas was the dirtiest place we ever stayed. Paint was flaking off the walls in every room, the floors were very dirty and the sofa that we were supposed to sit on was filthy, smelling of other peoples odours and very badly stained. The front and back doors looked as if they had been chewed by some animal with enormous teeth! There were gaps in the front door which was very ill fitting and during the night when the wind got up, rattled and banged as did the bedroom window. This made the night time feel very eerie. The cleaner seemed very reluctant to do any work at all, telling us that she was too busy to change our beds, therefore, in the fortnight we were there, our beds were only changed once. We were also asked on another occasion if she could leave the cleaning and come back the next day. I don!t know if management were aware of this work schedule she had as they never seemed to bother to come round the bungalows or site to check on anything, neither were they very pleasant as we never saw them smile once. We ended up buying our own toilet roll as well as we were only given one toilet roll now and again. The dust under the bed was unbelievable - no mattress protectors or protectors on the pillows. We weren't impressed with the pool either as this was rather dirty as well, hardly cleaned. We had often passed these bungalows and thought that we would like to stay there and so decided to treat ourselves to an ugrade this year, but what a waste of money! We will definitely not stay here again and would discourage anyone from booking a holiday at this resort. We will continue to holiday in Lanzarote and stay in Matagorda, but will definitely not book another holiday at LAS GAVIOTAS. Beware and stay here at your peril.

Room Tip: I don't know what tip to give travellers about choosing a good room as we certainly didn't s...

My Dad & I have just returned from 2 weeks holiday & would definately recomment these bungalows as was very spacious, clean. We did not use the restaurant, bar so can't comment. They are close to the beach, shops, bars, & the service was very good.

Las gaviotas was a lovely place to stay. We were greeted nicely, and all staff were very helpful. My boyfriend and I went on the 25th of June & it was so quiet and peaceful. We almost always got a swimming pool to ourselves and always got a sun bed. There are seven pools in total and you can use all of them. They were all in good condition and kept clean and tidy. We were footsteps away from the beach which was really nice when we wanted to go for a walk. Lanzarote itself was very clean and pretty. We also went to Timanfaya National Park and Aquapark which the reception organised for us without any difficulties. A coach collected us, took us to our excursion and brought us back. Also, we did not have to pay the full price of the excursion at the reception; just a small deposit & pay the rest when you get on the coach. I'm 17 and my boyfriend is 18 and we were probably the youngest couple there so it's a lovely place to go to if you want to get away and have a peaceful holiday. Everyone was really friendly and i would recommend it to anyone

My wife and I have just returned from a week here,we went self catering as that is the type of holiday we prefer. There is enough equipment in the apartments to do this.I cannot comment on the restaurant or bar as we never used them. The apartments are spacious and clean and a good base to explore the surrounding area.We have often walked passed these apartments whilst staying nearby and thought we would try them this year and we were not disappointed,it is a sprawling complex and we stayed in block four, just a few seconds from reception,we were lucky to have a pool and Seaview,I particularly like the fact you have your own sun loungers right outside your door,no getting up early and reserving your space.Would definitely stay here again. It was quite quiet but I think it's just the current trend, this is not just regarding Las gaviotas but other apartments we have stayed in round abouts,a lot of these apartments are now privately owned and you only see people on the weekend and this seems to take some of the atmosphere away from the place. But Las gaviotas will see me again and hopefully soon.Lots of bars and restaurants near by,and a nice walk along the seafront.
