“Quiet & Relaxing but a shortage of sun loungers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We stayed Half Board at the Guacimeta Apartments. The apartment (number 40) had everything we needed for our stay and was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the whole of our stay. The breakfast consisted of bread, cold meats, cheese, tomatoes and hard boiled eggs along with yoghurt, dried fruit, cereal, fresh fruit and donuts. You could order fried eggs, sausage, bacon and toast from the kitchen if wanted. You could also pay extra for a 'full English'. There was a choice of 4 starters and 4 mains followed by a dessert for the evening meal. All the food was cooked fresh when ordered. The Saturday BBQ was delicious with ribs, chicken, pork, steak and Spanish chorizo. The Canarian potatoes were very tasty, as were the Canarian sauces which were provided at every evening meal with warm bread. I was a little disappointed that there was not more local dishes on the menu, as it was lasagne, burgers, chips etc a lot of the time. I know a lot of English tourists would like this, but we prefer to be a bit daring and try the local cuisine!
The pool area was being cleaned daily and we never saw any ants or cockroaches around anywhere. We felt that there were not enough sun loungers for the amount of guests, and it wasn't even high season. As we were going to breakfast around 8.30 a lot of people already had their towels on the loungers, but then didn't actually turn up to sit on them until late in the afternoon, sometimes even after a day trip out of resort.
On the day we left we had a late checkout which we were not charged extra for, which was helpful.
The fact that there is no air conditioning may prove to be uncomfortable during high season. As it was breezy overnight we just left the window open to get the air flowing.
The surrounding area was very quiet with very little nightlife and the bar on resort closed at 11pm.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor have nicer private balconies.

We have just returned from a week in the sun at Apartamentos Guacimeta. The apartment was facing the pool with a sea view. The apartment was small but nice and clean and well equipped. The pool was small but well looked after and the water was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful but not over stated, remaining in the background unless approached. The location was perfect for us, a short walk to the shops, bars and restaurants. Overall I think this complex was very good value and perfect for a quiet week in the sunshine.

Room Tip: Not worth paying for wifi as most of the bars and restaurants have it for free. Only 20 mins from ai...

Just returned couple days ago. I think in all the reviews it's been said well enough. It's nice, quiet place, well equipped for self catering. Shame there's no air conditioning, that would make it even better. We had room in upper floor and we could see a tiny bit of strip of sea which was nice. Staff was very friendly (except the always grumpy looking lady at the reception- who was still very helpful if you needed to ask something). I think the cleaning was done on every other day and not everyday, but I think most of people could live with that. The hotel restaurant was exceptionally good! We have tried few restaurants in the shopping centre (the best one was called Timbaya or something similar in the shopping centre).

Only downfall with those rooms- downstairs rooms can't be locked from inside. Upstairs rooms can be locked from inside, however the balcony door is not childproof so you must watch your toddler 24/7 so they don't climb the chairs on the balcony.

Just returned after 2 weeks. Loved the resort for its location and relaxed atmosphere. Room was clean and well equipped and the cleaning staff were excellent. Bbq on saturdays were amazing.......as much as you can eat and more if you wanted it. All staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend this small resort if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday. The main centre is only about a 5 minute walk where there are lots of restaurants and entertainment.

We have just arrived back after a week here, after reading some people's reviews before we went we didn't really know what to expect however on arrival we were very pleasantly surprised. It was 8pm before we checked in which was straight forward, we had room 30 which was on the ground floor, we had requested a top floor but to be honest didnt really bother us the main thing was it was clean and very well equipped. We were self catering the apartment had every utensil needed.
The pool was very quiet had plenty of sun loungers so no need to reserve, I will say the pool was very cold it wasn't heated so getting in for a swim takes time ! We did eat a few times at the pool bar, it was always very nice and plentiful, breakfast was nice and only 4 euro, you can get cheaper in matagorda however the service at the pool bar was always better. We did also have lunch there one day a club sandwich is enough for two people !
I would recommend everyone to the BBQ on a Saturday night it's all you can eat and believe me it really is and the foods is absolute beautiful it was the best meal we had all week and only 10.50 euro. The apartments are very nicely located, approx 5 minute walk from shops, bars and restaurants. There is a lot of Irish bars about we took a liking to the late late bar which had live music every night before a karaoke all staff were very nice.
It's a ideal location for families and couples looking for a nice relaxing hassle free holiday.

Room Tip: Odd numbers are top floor, even numbers ground floor

This was our 3rd visit in as many years and it is still a lovely place, the staff are always so friendly although we only ever had breakfast at the complex the food has only been very nice. The area is very quite and relaxing, the pool has been redone and the pool area is a great place to relax and catch the sun during the day.The rooms are always nice and tidy with kettle toaster and coffee machine and a 2 ring cooker but there are so many places to choose from for fantastic food. We will be returning next year.

Room Tip: Try for a upstairs room
