“Seriously, don't go to this shambles.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2010

On arrival first appearances the accommodation appeared to be adequate for what we had paid. We were expecting it to be basic. We were greeted at reception and given our room keys, and it was explained to us that unfortunately as it was only May so the pool was closed for refurbishment for the whole of our stay, which was a bit of a disappointment, (the pool bar was also closed).
Upon arrival at our room we noticed an overwhelming smell of the open foul drain just outside our terrace, which my pregnant wife found particularly displeasing. We also immediately noticed that the bin had not been emptied in our apartment, which struck me as very unusual.
The more we stayed at the apartments, the more issues we had with the place. After complaining twice about the towels (we hadn’t had them changed after being there for 4 days) they got changed, but were thread bear. Also the bedding was not changed in the whole of our stay.
The shower cubicle was structurally held up with a piece of wire, and the shower base was going rusty. The toilet was badly stained as were the walls.
There were obviously no luxuries like air condition or windows we could keep open at night, so the room became very stuffy and damp, considering there was also no fan extraction from the bathroom. The wall at the side of the bed had mould growing on it due to the damp. Obviously no television either.
There was an insect problem, with various insects, some ants, and some others (not certain what they were) patrolling the walls and floor, which left us with several bite marks.
You couldn’t really sit on the sofa, due to the covering on it being rather sticky and grimey to the touch. (The cover was a bed sheet). It appears this may have never been washed.
As the pool was closed the water was being pumped out into a drain. My wife and myself were going to eat for our evening meal, and the manager suggested that we should walk through the water which was spilling out of the damaged pipe, as it was only a couple of inches deep. Did he really think that we wanted to get our feet wet when going out for a meal. After a briefer discussion he agreed to open the gate to let us out another way.
But when you do try to complain there never seems to be anyone working to speak to. Unfortunately the reception is closed on Sunday, and the main part of most of the rest of the time it appears.
Generally this is of an extremely low standard and should be avoided at all costs. Unfortunately due to the volcanic ash cloud, our return plane was cancelled so we got an opportunity to stay at another hotel for a night. This was also relatively inexpensive (35 euros per night), but was about 1000% better.

The apartments we had were both clean if basic, but it is an ideal base to explore this beautiful and unique island. The nearby bars are what you'd expect from a holiday resort but the nearby 'La Chalana' restaurant is exceptional serving a range of local dishes the owner is a local fisherman, the service is first class all in all well worth a visit. Avoid El Burro if you can the service is poor though the food is ok it's not a patch on La Chalana. Also the local Spar supermarket is pricey but convenient if you've got time go to the Hiper Dino on the main road into town. Also shop around for Car Hire and trips there are bargains to be had.

Feel lucky to arrive when the reception was open, what would we have done on a late flight and arrived at 02:30hrs?? Room was basic for self catering, very small bathroom with a shower to be negotiated on the way to the loo, and a cupboard to open to put the bathroom light on ?? Fridge was RANK! Think it had not been used for months and kept SHUT. So every time it was opened it STANK!! It was 'off season' so poolside bar was closed and main bar not that appealing. The town area and 'Newtown' were the place to be. The 'Bus Stop and 'Louise' were very friendly even though it was pouring down with rain. Food, €2 San Maguel beer and Sky TV were found to be V good at 'Jinty Mcginty's' and Suzie at 'Last Minute Travel' (on the same road as Jinty's) very helpfull :0) It rained a lot, so we read a couple of books and caught the sun when we could, is it a tan we have or rust? We found it to be a friendly, pleasent place and enjoyed our week's getaway, pity about the weather but soon after it stopped raining it was dry, when it started again we just popped into another bar, easy! Would return to the area but not the apartments, One Key award we booked 3 star :0(

Well..... Decided to head on a late autumn break, weather was brilliant, accommodation was poor.

Beds changed.... never in one week, towels twice. Staff were friendly but the place was stinking. Our room smelt like my grandads old caravan, stinking and i've come home with soooooo many bites everywhere. No air con, was bearable but the old fusty smell will forever live on!

Location - on outskirts of the old town, probably closer walk to Porto Coler rather than the main strip.

Never again for Las Terrazas!!!
