13 of us stayed here in August last year for 2 weeks. 8 adults between 37-50 and 5 teenagers between 12- 15. It is a very basic hotel but clean. I agree that the hotel is tired and could do with a refurb but having said that, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, having read some of the reviews. We paid less than £500 each for 2 weeks in the sun so quite a good deal really. There was karaoke once a week but not much else so we went out at night. Maid service was daily. Daniel the entertainer that everyone talks about is a little bit moody to be honest, you need to catch him on a good day! He organised some entertainment but I wouldn't go as far as saying he "works tirelessly". We ate out every night and only had one bad meal which was at a place called La Terraza. Do not go there. The manager seems charming as they all do,and even promises that if you don't enjoy the food, then you don't pay. He promises you "large portions" too. We went in and the food was cold, child size portions and frankly, quite disgusting. When we told him we wasn't happy, he shrugged his shoulders and went and sat on the step outside! very rude man. However, for the other 12 nights we were there we went to the following restaurants: Roma - Good , American Indian - Good, big portions, Don Rafael- Great Mexican food , Lani's bar - Very Good, pick your own steaks etc, but the best one was in the old town called La Cascada Puerto- fantastic and great value for money!! As far as bars go, there was one we wouldn't recommend called Redz. This isn't because it's a Liverpool bar and I am a United fan, it's because they got us in, we ordered drinks, and they tried to pass off a makeshift cocktail by making the ingredients up because they didn't want to admit that they didn't have what we had asked for. When we left, they were quite abusive to us! If you want to go to Playa Blanca, you need the 61 bus outside the shopping centre. Don't go to the stop passed the roundabout as this is not the correct one (as we found out to our cost 1 hour later), If you want to go to Costa Teguise, then it's the number 3 bus, at the stop passed the roundabout. Puerto Calero is nice too, you can get a taxi or water taxi from the old town for 6 euros.Good bars are Linekers for sport and cocktails, Bluebells is a great bar and very friendly Scottish owner. O'Briens Irish bar were also very welcoming and the owners John and Elaine were lovely. The Bus Stop (facing the main shopping centre) is a bar that sells English beers ie Speckled Hen and Strongbow at quite low prices, and has a really relaxed atmosphere but beware of the toilets! Use the shopping centre ones or McDonalds. Tito's is a late karaoke bar, open til 4 or 5 am. It serves a purpose but was not our first choice. Cardiac Hill was not as bad as people make out, and I'm no athlete ! Overall a good holiday location, one I would go back to if I was on a budget
Choose a first floor room to avoid problems with ants. The ones facing the first pool on the right...
