“appartments were clean but dated and noisey!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2009

My partner and i have just got back from a weeks stay, if you are thinking of going to lanzerote keep a check on the pound against the euro. It was a pound for a euro at the start of jan which made everything very expensive!
The entrance to the apartments is through a passage that is very shabby and grotty which is not what you want to see upon your arrival. The rooms were basic, clean and a little dated but are ok if you just want a cheap sunny getaway.
The one problem that was so annoying was the fact that the appartments did not have any sort of sound proofing, the first night we heard a fight going on in the next appartment, the second we were kept up for what felt like an age by someone snoring, you could hear every footstep in the corridors, every cupboard door bang, voices, toilet flushing etc and the odd headbord banging away.... ideal for youngsters. If you want to get some early nights then you will struggle as i was difficult before 2 am.

Well nice clean and tidy apartments, nice little touches like a small bottle of washing up liquid and a bottle of mineral water waiting as we arrived. They are not 5 star if you can suffer the odd chipped tile they are ideal. We have stayed in better apartments but not better for value. Overall great value for money and clean and tidy.

Just returned from a fortnights holiday in Old Town Puerto Del Carmen.
Apartments were basic but very clean. Found the receptionists to be pleasant and was a bit worried after reading some of the previous reviews but our experience was fantastic!
The pool area was great except actual swimming pool was very cold!
Please dont make the same mistake as us and miss finding the Purple Turtle until your last few days. When you come out of reception past the supermarket go up the hill not down to find The Purple Turtle. The family and staff were so lovely and the food was superb.
There are a lot of Irish bars in this area but generally found them to be abit more expensive. Nice Restaurants in the harbour and nice atomsphere.
In general a very good holiday, will be returning beginning of next year and heading straight to the Purple Turtle.

La Florida apts Porta Del Carmen Lanzerote.
Just returned from these lovely apartments, sept 2008, very clean, great helpful staff, not a lot to do for young children, but the kids were having a good time in the kids pool. I would go again in the future. The apts are up hill and can be difficult if you are not able bodied, though taxis are cheap to get to the beach. If you do visit these apats, try the Purple Turtle next door, the food is fab. I am 55, and could reccomend these apts to all.

One an excursion one day in Lanzarote we were told that the original name of Puerton del Carmen before they changed it to what it is now was translated into "scabby old lady." By day, this is certainly not true in respects to La Florida Appartments. By day, they are beautiful. the beds were comfy, the pool was brilliant, music was good, everything was GREAT!!!! However, by night "scabby old lady" suddenly appeared. The noise was ridiculous, i CERTAINLY wouldnt reccomend it for children as some noises were...well lets just say of adult nature. oh, and don't get up during the night as cockroaches freely roam (roach killer provided under the sink). I'd say that La Florida Appartments is much more suited for teenagers and young couples. Don't worry if you can't speak spanish as the receptionists, cleaners and bar staff all speak fantastic english (as does most of lanzarote :D )
My reccomendations:
Well worth a stay, it was a decent hotelthing.
DONT get up at night (unluess you like roaches)
DO go on an excursion with lastminute travel. And if you go on the short south tour and get a guide called Nick, tell him he's got a great review online coz he was AWESOME!
Do bring earplugs, to get a good night sleep :D
Hope this helps, enjoy your stay coz we did :D

A very pleasant stay here. I feel some people who have written reviews on La Florida before feel that for their £25 a night they should get the standards of a ***** hotel, which clearly you do not!

The entrance is shared with a supermarket (HiperDino- good for most stuff), and an Irish Bar. If reception is closed when you arrive the guy outside the Irish Bar will probably give you directions to the side entrance and nightwatchman's appartment (no doubt in the hope you will patronise his bar), but if for any reason he does not, directions are posted on the reception door - and its not difficult (in some ways its better as you dont need to carry your case up lf you use the side entrance).

The room was functional, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom is provided with a minimal supply of toilet roll - we had to buy some as reception was shut when it was urgently needed! The only real criticism about the room was you had to pay for the key for the safe and also the TV remote control. I would say if your room number starts with a 1 you may suffer from street noise. Try and get a room number starting with a 2 or a 3. On your last day, check out is midday.

The pool is pleasant, and clean. You are not allowed to reserve sunbeds, although some did - I dont know why as there were always plenty spare.

I was a bit concerned to see Club 18-30 use the hotel. They were no trouble though - the groups of lads staying were generally charming and made no noise at all. The same could not be said of some of the other guests - specifically a group of Irish OAPs who made a lot of noise shreiking in the early hours on several occasions - not really the hotel's fault though!

Previous reviewers on here have criticised the reception staff - I dont know why - I spoke to 3 different people in reception, an English woman, a Spanish man and a Spanish woman. All were helpful, polite, cheerful and spoke English. Someone else has complained about the cats - Feral cats are an issue across the whole island and not something the hotel can do much about - the cats wont bother you though.

If you need transfers, I found [--] to be very quick and efficient, and cheap!

being of the older group when we realised it was 18-30 we were very pleasantly supprised as to the quality of the apparments considering how little we paid. staff were very helpfull and the appartments very well equiped the pool area was always clean and tidy the on site pool bar was good value and tasty money exchange was good.there was also plenty of space to park a hire car from at the front of the apartments go down the hill to autoriesen for the best deals.
plenty of resturants to visit in the local area the harbour has some very tasty resturants also best indian resturant just up the hill towards the new shopping centre
good value for clothes shopping there as well
would definatly go back to the florida appartments again especially through 18-30 also the holiday rep was the most attentive rep weve ever had a credit to 18-30.
